I have had all 4 of my kids see Dr. Severson for 10+ years. Takes the time needed with each patient. Understands family dynamics. Is overly cautious, which I wholeheartedly appreciate. When making an appointment, it is the staff's job to inquire about what the appt. may be about. They then decide how much time to be alloted for the appt. If they are unsure, they are supposed to put you on hold to ask him how much time he wants. So in response to a previous comment on this website, he was trying to ensure he had enough time for you and all of his other patients that day.

This is probably the worst pediatrician I have come in contact with socially. I have no doubt he is intelligent and knows his stuff but his interaction is horrible. He put down his receptionist staff and said, "they don't know anything medically" because they didn't allot enough time for him to do an accurate assessment. My previous clinic had sent him a ton of documentation on my child four weeks prior and he did not look at any of it ahead of time and blamed everyone else but himself for not looking at his appointment ahead of time. He did nothing but said I would need to rebook and he wouldn't charge me for this visit. So I wasted 2 hours of my day and took time away from work. If he would have looked at his appointments ahead of time he could have notified his reception staff of the error in time allotment and they could have called and rescheduled. This was completely a lack of accountability on his part and not being proactive with his appointments for the day.
