He is a brilliant Doctor and an expert in his field. He doesn't just shove a bunch of pills at you
This appointment was the worst appointment I ever had. He was cold, very insulting, and wrong on many counts, I too, was told I was a diabetic and for 19 years (news to me) and would be on insulin in 3 months (never happened). We went with the obese thing too. I was in total shock at his behavior. I complained to the office and was told and I wasn't the first to complain and wouldn't be the last. I even thought of going to a lawyer - that's how bad he was. WHY they keep this man in their practice is a mystery - they KNOW what he is and what he is doing and saying. Shame on this particular medical office for allowing this "animal" to verbally and mentally abuse patients....can I give him a minus 10 stars???????
Wow! I have never read so many consistent bad reviews -how in the world can he continue to practice what I read here will keep everyone away including me--I will look elsewhere I had to rate this guy with a once otherwise the review would not post
I had the worst experience of my life! I left the office in tears! This doctor has NO bedside manners. I went in for concerns of a thyroid issue and I was told my problem was that I was obese excessively obese and he said it with such contempt and disapproval, I just excused myself and walked out. I do not recommend this doctor at all! Even if he were the last Endocrinologists on earth I would not see him!
Now I can understand why I was able to get an appointment to see him so quickly. Every endocrinologist in the area far and wide had a two month or more wait time to get an appointment. This guy is a phony. A disgrace to the medical profession.
No words to describe this curt, uncaring individual and am very disappointed in the IMA practice in allowing anyone like Bohm to represent them for one minute. Run from this man as he is an evil person. Claims he will not use lab numbers to treat hypothyroidism, recommends wrong doses and offers no communication during visit which would help you understand more about what he hopes to do for you in order to feel better. He even told me to quit all medication for 4 weeks and see how I feel and he did not need any further labs even though my T3 is high! Not sure he has a license to practice!
I had been warned of this doctor's bedside manner by both professionals and patients alike, but I still remained optimistic that he would treat me with respect and help me with my medical problem. When I got there, I wasn't allowed to speak, and only answer direct questions that he asked. He also told me that I was only half-listening to what he had to say, and made me feel that I shouldn't address all of the questions I had planned to ask him. He showed a lot of apathy, and was diagnosing future conditions when they were not a current issue.
I thought I was the exception, but after reading these reviews, I realize that Dr. Bohm's attitude, and unprofessionalism is his mantra. Not only has his attitude created more harm than good, he has created a dis-service to the other Doctors at IMA and alienated patients who pay for his services along with their insurance company. My experience with him was to say the least, painfully embarrassing. Rude does not describe his attitude, but then he attacked my level of education, and ability to follow what he was saying. I am not sure the Dr. thinks that his behavior is objectionable, because it seems to come naturally to him. I do hope that at some point the negative comments will be taken seriously by those in authority, and address this situation.
My sweet 69 year old mother had a horrible experience with Dr. Bohm! He came through the door flush faced yelling at her. After several minutes of his mean unkind conversation with him she got up and left! He did not show her any compassion when she tried to explain to him her situation, he talked over her and was very loud and angry toward her! She will not return and we are contacting the medical board as well! Actually he's a no star
This Doctor is an dangerous! He is the most unprofessional medical professional I have ever come in contact with. At this point I don't blame him, he is a sick person who needs to be in deep therapy for his personality issues. He also does not know what he is talking about from a medical stand point. His dietary suggestion for a diabetic is to eat 55% carbs. This is moronic, unless your family owns the insulin manufacturer! The real people to blame are the administrators at IMA in FT. Myers & Cape Coral. If they care at all about there clients health, they would not let him near one patient. They have received a hundred complaints yet still do nothing. This is like knowing you have a sex offender working as a teacher in a grade school yet, you do nothing. Yes this sounds harsh, but we are dealing with something very sacred here, peoples HEALTH, their bodies, their organs their mind. This man, is a very dangerous person. To have someone, maybe not as aware as me enter into there most sacred world with absolutely know regard or care. IMA, fire this man before someone sues the pants off you for malpractice, and it would be a well deserved lawsuit. Shame on you , IMA Shame on you!!!!!!
What a mean and nasty person. I'm switching endocrinologists today. I wish I had read these reviews before choosing this doctor. I'm still reeling from what happened this afternoon. Let me start off with my visit last week-- when Dr. Bohm gave me the news that I have Type II Diabetes. Dr. Bohm did not explain to me anything about the disease or how he came up with the diagnosis, just handed me a blood glucose monitor, then sent me home with three pages of blood test results which I had to analyze and decipher myself by looking everything up on the internet later. Bottom line, the test results say I'm "pre-diabetic", not diabetic, and this was reflective of an A1C of 5.9. No other glucose testing was done except for the A1C. The remainder of the tests were hormone-related and thyroid related and all was normal. Naturally, this made me question the discrepancy in his diagnosis, so I called his office, and finally after three days, his nurse was calling me back. As I was on the phone with her, the doctor interrupted, then snatched the phone away from her and started scolding me for taking up 15 minutes of her time, at which point I told him he was wrong, that my phone said it had been less than 7 minutes. Before his phone grab, I had been trying to get a confirmation of what my diagnosis really was. I was explaining that my daily blood glucose readings were testing completely normal and NOT JIVING with the diabetes diagnosis. I read that A1C readings can be falsely high due to anemia, and not diabetes, and wanted confirmation what other tests the doctor had besides the A1C of 5.9 to base his "diabetes" diagnosis on, as the symptoms I am having more closely match a vitamin B-12 deficiency. As he chewed me out, I tried explaining that all I wanted was clarification -- what my diagnosis really is, pre-diabetes or diabetes? He flatly told me there's no such thing as pre-diabetes, ONLY DIABETES and accused me of being in denial. I tried explaining that I was fully accepting of a type II diabetes diagnosis IF my daily glucose readings also reflected such, but he kept interrupting and wouldn't let me talk. I butted right back in where he was forced to hear my tale of the Ben & Jerry's full pint of ice cream I had consumed all in one sitting and the readings of only 112 and 100 one and 2 hours later, then I asked "does this sound like a diabetic"? Then he fell silent but non-apologetic for his bad behavior. He told me to come in on Thursday and to bring my lab test results with me, which made me question why he didn't save a copy... That was a BIG MISTAKE--he chewed me out again, saying he can't remember every patient's test results since he didn't have my file in front of him--that he will see me briefly without on appointment on Thursday, that's the reason he wants me to bring my results, so he doesn't have to go to the trouble of pulling out my file! Bottom line, how was this my fault that he was speaking to me in such a manner, and without my file because he grabbed the phone away from his nurse in a fit of anger? Now I'm realizing he didn't even know with what patient he was speaking! I got off the phone in tears, wondering what it is that I could have done to provoke such anger in this man. So now I'm reading his reviews and feel quite relieved in knowing that I did nothing out of the ordinary, and that it is not me--it's him. And some of these reviews now explain the strange WINK he gave me when the receptionist had her head down the other day. I found that strangely unprofessional. I once had a really mean boss who used to flirt with the women in the office like that, then go ballistic on us the next minute. I pity the people who work for this doctor. I feel their pain! I just want to get to the bottom of what is really wrong with me. What I'm reading on the internet is that a falsely elevated A1C result can happen if the patient is anemic, and he didn't rule that out before he diagnosed me as a full-blown type II diabetic-- one with only a 5.9 A1C reading and no other glucose tests to back it up??? I'm cutting my losses at this time because I will never allow this man to verbally abuse me ever again. I actually think he enjoys treating people badly. I'm going to see a primary care doctor to test for B12 deficiency. Dr. Bohm has placed a diabetes diagnosis on my record which may not be true at all. Hopefully, my rates won't be raised since the new Healthcare Law kicked in.
I read the reviews before going to see him, but since I could get an appointment quickly with him and had to wait weeks for any other doctor, I thought I would give him a try (this should have been another clue not to go to him!) He was very rude, didn't ask any questions of me other than the initial "What do you want?", interrupted me frequently when I was trying to talk to him..... when I told him about the treatment plan that my previous dr. had me on,(one that was very successful), he stated bluntly "I don't do that" I asked him to refill a prescription for a previous treatment to get me by until I could find a doctor who would take the time to stay current on treatment options. He grunted, wrote me a script, and walked out. He did something wrong with the prescription, so my pharmacy sent it back to him with a request to fix it. They did this 4 times over the next 2 weeks and got no response. I left him 2 messages, and got no response. It was like dealing with a rude spoiled child. He is not only an unpleasant person, he is a lazy, unknowledgable doctor who has no business being in the position he is in. I paid him $50 to be treated badly and to be forced to suffer for additional weeks.
im sorry but for the few people that had him on a good day good for you. i went to him twice and canceled a third appointment, the first time there after waiting for 30 minutes to learn about what i have (prolactonoma) the first thing he says after a hi (that really sounded like he wanted to be there) was you have a tumor on your gland, i kinda freaked not knowing about it and instead of making me feel better he made me feel much worse had me literally crying as he watched me not saying much to make me feel better he asks if im depressed because im crying who the heck does he think he is im sorry but i will not go back to him.
Dr Bohm has to be the most horrible doctor I have ever been to. Unprofessional, rude and lacks empathy for the patient. He proceeded on my first appointment to tell me I was thick in hip area and would've thought by my outfit I was fat. It made me feel terrible. He was very out of line on many things he said. I tried to share with him my symptoms ,thoughts, frustrations and brought in some paperwork and he proceeded to talk over me, ask me crazy questions none related to why I was there. It was a waste of my time, money and hope that he would help me. I highly suggest not going to Dr Bohm. 0 out 5 stars!!!
excellent care, blunt and to the point, I lost 40 lbs and do not take any medication for my diabetes, thank goodness
This "Doctor" is a horrible man. He insulted me. I have goiter. He pulled on my neck and said" this is FAT not your thyroid". He was wrong . I am not over weight by any means, and upon a second opinion with a real Doctor I was tested, diagnosed and found out that I HAVE THYROID CANCER. Beside his almighty rudeness he was very "involved" with his female staff right in front of me. They were too involved with themselves to bother with me. I cannot believe I actually paid this jack*ss a co-payment. NEVER GO TO HIM.
I must first start this message by informing everyone I have worked in the O.R. for 22 years and my husband is a physician. Dr. Baum entered the room and asked what are you here for and I said I am hypothyroid, he interrupted and very rudely told me to shut up and listen to him. He proceeded to give me this long narrative about what I needed, interrupted at one point by what grade level did you attend and did I understand him but I was already done with this so called physician. By the way the dose he did recommend for me was so high (thank goodness I had the sense not to listen to him) it would of caused me some serious medical issues , I will spare you the details. All patients deserve compassionate care with a physician who is willing to listen to your questions and help better your health , if not keep looking. I would never recommend this so called Dr. to anyone.
In one office visit I was insulted 3 times by this Dr. He said that I was obese, a diabetic and an alcoholic. I started arguing with him that Iam not a diabetic, I do not drink any alcohol and I didn't think 150 lb is obese. He said I didn't know what I was talking about. He asked me where I was from and I told him (like that was relevant) he said never he heard of Brooklyn, NY and proceed to tell me His nationality. This visit was a complete waste of my time and I still didn't get the help I needed. Will never go back there.
Just appallingly bad. He was incredibly rude, to both me and my wife, and misdiagnosed me, leaving me with an undiagnosed serious illness. He also prescribed me the wrong medicince, and I would have been seriously harmed had the pharmacist not caught the mistake. Really should not be in practice.
This was the worst Dr appointment ever! He was very rude, mean and unprofessional! He is a disgrace to the medicql community and should not practice. After my visit, went to my car and cried. Thought doctors we supposed to help people not talk down to them!!!! Going to medical board!
This Dr was demeaning and did not listen to my concerns. He was so rude I cryed when I left. I cannot believe anyone of his profession could speak to someone like that. I would not recommend this Dr to anyone.
Dr. Bohm lacks professionalism and I have spoken to many other patients of his and he has even misdiagnosed a few. In one office visit he smelled of alcohol, why are we letting a provider drink at work? I have had multiple interactions with this doctor and unless you are a super model and beautiful he treats you horribly and talks down to you he is very disrepectful and I am surprised to see that he is even still practicing as I am no longer a patient of this provider.
Oh I got a appt. right away, that should have been the first red flag. At my appointment I was told I was a diabetic, as I read this doctor has told others that were not. I find him Very Rude and not professioal at all. Please stay away from this office, I am going to report him to the medical board.
This doctor is extremely inappropriate as well as rude and unprofessional. He ended the session by asking me if I thought he was good looking. This man is dangerous and should be seeking professional help.
The appointment began with Dr. Bohm putting his hand in my boyfriends face and told him to shut his mouth, when he was trying to help me answer the doctors questions. Because I was there for bloodwork regarding my hormones, the doctor felt it was appropriate to ask me, How often do you foreplay in bed? When and how do your orgasm?. I felt completely humiliated and embarrassed and did not feel comfortable answering those types of questions regarding my personal sex life with my partner. I explained to the doctor that I had a dramatic weightloss and my hormones couldve been affected after the process. His question following my explanation was Please lift up your shirt so that I can see what you look like now? Did you have your breasts done, and I would like to know exactly what you had done to them? They look great now! I felt that these questions had absolutely nothing to do with the problems I came in to my appointment to seek answers to, and not only was it total disrespect, but it left me mortified and in utter disbelief that it is ok for a physician to speak to his patients in this manner. He then proceeded to belittle my boyfriend by saying that he knows absolutely nothing as to whats going on with me, and he needs to shut up and remain quiet. He then asked me where I worked, what my position was at my job, which staff members he knows at my workplace, as if he is going to come to my job and visit me directly. He then began to ask me questions about my ethnicity, and where he was from stating he was from Argentina, he wanted to know where my parents originated from, their job occupations, and their whereabouts as well (such as where they live and what they do on their spare time). Because of his inappropriate questions, my bloodwork order was not complete, none of my questions were answered, and I left his office feeling more confused and disrespected than I ever have in my entire life.
I love this Dr and he most likely saved my life with an early find of thyroid cancer. Sent me to a great surgeon and I am now receiving excellent follow up care. Thank you Dr Bohm !:)
he asks if you have any questions, then when you have one, he says: "I ALREADY ANSWERED IT"...He interrupts you when you speak, he makes you feel that you are challenging him personally every time you (DARE) to disagree or ask a question. RUDE, RUDE, RUDE...will NEVER go back to this doctor, and WILL NOT recommend him.
excellent experience, been seeing dr. for over 5 years, would highly recommend him.
Very intuitive in diagnosing. Thinks outside the box. Able to diagnose obscure, relentless, debilitating illness. But won't hold back in letting you know, so look out! He'll come at you when you least expect it!! Thx.
I had struggled with a serious illness for over an year that really altered my life. I had been to over 7 different doctors with no answer. I had spent a fortune trying to get the right answer. Dr. Bohm saved my life & really listed to my needs! I would recommmend him to amyone! If you are looking for answers & a solution, he is for you!
I have had three appointments with Dr. Bohm and he has changed my life! I had previously seen an extremely renowned endocrinologist in Boston who was condescending and dismissive. At my first encounter with Dr. Bohm, I was afraid I was in for more of the same but upon realizing that it was merely his very dry sense of humor, I put those fears aside and am grateful that I did. This man has changed my life. He bases his treatment on how one is feeling, not what one's lab test show, to the exclusion of all else. I had been told I was "normal" despite feeling anything but. Dr. Bohm listened and treated me accordingly. The care I have received from him and his staff been excellent! I highly recommend him.
Dr. Bohm did not listen to what my problem was. He just wrote me a script and told me to come back in two months. I needed seriour help. He is the worst dr. I've ever seen.
I went with my husband to his appointment, as requested by this doctor. I'm a psychotherapist (which he didn't know) and I can tell you that he is a very troubled man. He has inadequacy issues and as a result presents as very abusive and arrogant. He appears to be a misogynist. In all my years of life, I must say, I have not encountered a physician as pathetically incompetent as a healer as this man. His wife, if there is one, deserves a merit badge. His patients should question their masochistic tendencies.
I went in to get tested for hormone imbalances and he told me that my illness would cause me to lose my job, my boyfriend will dump me, and I'll watch life pass me by as my friends live theirs. I'm not even exaggerating one bit. He gave me a box of tissues before he even knew what was wrong with me, like he was going to make me cry. He is horrific!!! DO NOT GO SEE HIM!! He should not be allowed to practice medicine as he is not a healing person.
I have seen Dr. Bohm for the past year and finally had it with his inappropriate comments and him thinking he was God. I was still not feeling up to par after a year under his care so I decided to just make the drive to Naples. Totally worth the short drive!! I realized that I was MISdiagnosed and was diagnosed correctly by my new Endocrinoligist who happens to be very friendly and listens to my concerns. Dr. Bohm is not a good doctor. . . thats an understatement!
is not words to describe how mean and unrespectful person he is.I do not how still practicing medicine. He does not know what he is talking about,he think he is Good, please Good forgive him.
Within 10 minutes of my first visit to Dr. Bohm he gave me a prescription. I was having varied symptoms over the last few years which were occasionall ...
HORRIBLE is what I have to say! I've seen him two times too many! I only went back the second time to get test results which I was told were fine. Good thing I asked for a copy because he was WRONG. He prescribed me diabetic medications for weight loss and I dont have diabetes. I saw him for extreme fatigue which turns out I have a virus that was causing it. He told me everything was fine that I was just depressed and I should see a psychiatrist. Horrible bedside manner too. Each time I was there he'd walk in and say what's up like we're old friends. Didn't want to listen to me, kept hushing me or telling me it didn't matter. Please see someone else. I have never written a bad review on anyone so please take that into consideration when reading this. We don't need doctors like this practicing with our lives.
If you want a condescending, egotistical, rude, and demeaning doctor, then Dr. Bohm is the doctor for you. I saw him once and will never see him agai ...
Excellent very professional. He truly cares for his patients. My son and I have gone to him for 15 years.
If you are looking for warm fuzzies this is not the doctor for you. He is very compassionate though, but most importantly he is very knowledgeable. I have been very happy working with him over the past two years.
VERY RUDE. SPOKE TO US IN FRONT OF A FULL WAITING ROOM. SPOKE ABOUT OUR PRIVATE MEDICAL CONCERNS. TOLD MY FATHER HE WOULD NOT SEE HIM. MY FATHER SAID HE "WAS SO SICK HE FELT LIKE HE WAS DYING" SO DR BOHM SAID WELL THEN YOU PROBABLY ARE!!!! OMG WHO TALKS LIKE THAT TO A PATIENT? NO COMPASSION. CRUEL AND DOES NOT KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING.
We do not go to see a doctor to make a new friend. We go for medical treatment. Do a little research to find out as much as you can for yourself and about yourself before going. Then maybe you will not be as offended when he is trying to EDUCATE you by correcting you using PROPER TERMANOLOGY. Why should he belittle his knowledge and use "baby-talk" with you to expain your issues.HE IS AN ENDOCRINOLIGIST. He is not there to hold your hand and wipe your nose for you, or feel sorry for you. We are not in "kindygarten" anymore. I do not know what kind of doctors you people are accustomed to getting your so-called treatments from but, as for myself ...I thought he was wonderfully professional.Straight foward and to the point. If you are expecting to just sit to socialize talking about the weather and such, then I will agree you HAVE gone to the wrong place. If you are there for an expert that is EXACTLY what you have. It is time to get over yourselves people...you went there for a reason...remember? If you are unwilling to accept the fact that all that matters are the facts. And the fact that I see is he DOES use medical termanology and FACTS which is nothing less than what we SHOULD expect from an EXPERT. He is VERY direct and knows what he is doing. If you do not want to listen to and learn about what is wrong with you, then WHY are you there?!? You really should not even bother wasting HIS time.(or MINE and the others that do care about ourselves and are waiting to see him for treatment -not cuddles .)
Manner of Dr. "House" without the diagnostic smarts. Very superior manner. Misdiagnosed.
As previous comments have been made about this "doctor" FIND ANOTHER!!!!! He is rude, demeaning, arrogant, and insulting. Had my husband not been there to witness Dr. Bohm's behavior, no one would believe how incredibly horrible this office visit was. I was hushed, quizzed about things as if I were a medical student, and brought to tears, to which Dr. Bohm turned to my husband and asked, "Is she always like this?" This appointment was for a consult for hyperparathyroidism, so I guess he can afford to be insulting since I wouldn't be an ongoing patient. The appointment lasted a grueling 40 minutes with his nurse/assistant barracading the door. He made me repeat each thing he said to me as if I were an idiot and then wanted to know if I knew what kind of a doctor he was and what an endocrinologist did! He implied that only he knew what was best. If I had followed his advice, I would have still been waiting for my surgery by a general surgeon. Instead, I am now 12 days post-op, cured via MIRP outpatient surgery by a specialist in Tampa, with a tiny scar and NO COMPLICATIONS (which Dr. Bohm told me if I would have developed any, no local doctor would touch me)
I went to see Dr. Bohm because I was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. I had not been feeling well and he told me that I would continue to feel this way my whole life because he thought I had chronic fatigue. After seeing a differnt doctor I found out I was sick with fevers from a sinus infection. I feel much better now. Also my sister has a thyroid problem and went to see Dr.Bohm. Dr. Bohm was rude and suggested my sister has a psychological problem not a thyroid problem. Maybe Dr. Bohm thinks he is funny but insulting people with serious medical problems are more offensive than comical.
My brother and I have both seen Dr. Bohm has this doctor has a chip on his shoulder and thinks he knows everything. (this is what we both concluded) I would try to tell him what my symtoms were and he would hold up his hand to tell me to be quiet. My brother was told to lose weight and Dr. Bohm told him use and shot named Byetta. He looked it up on the Byetta website and it is not recommended for people who don't have type 2 diabetes and should not be the only diabetic medicine taken alone. My brother doesn't even have diabetes! Never again!
I was referred to this doctor by my family practioner for thyroid testing. Right off the bat he asked why I was there and did not have my test results from the previous doctor. He continuly corrected by terminology and interrupted me. He was very rude and I almost left. I eventually burst into tears and he left the room to get tissues mumbling that he didn't need to put up with this. He spoke to me like I was an idiot and kept saying "keep up with me". He ordered some blood work and had me come back. When I came back he informed me it was not my thyroid and diagnosed me with chronic fatiuge syndrome. He also said there was nothing I could do about it and that it's not treatable. I have since learned that there is a lot of supportative care, etc and options that I have. He did not mention a single one of these. He may know his stuff, but has no idea how to interact with people.
Went to this doctor and after saying hello asked me "What do you want?" I didn't uderstand what he meant and said "Excuse me?" and again he said "What do you want?". By this time I was emotionally upset that a doctor would speak to me this way so I said to him "Why are you speaking to my this way". Thats when he said "Do you want me to tell you what your test results say or do you want me to tell you what is happening and what is wrong with you.By this time I was really upset and told him so and that he lacked bedside manners. I also told him that if he had checked the medical forms I had just filled out he would have seen that I suffer from mental illness and he should have spoken to me differently to not get me upset. He told me he was not hear to hold my hand or baby me but to provide me with the best medical care. Exchanges of words went back and forth then he ignored me and started to explain to my husband what was going on and what he was prescribing for me.Towards the end of the conversation he asked me if I wanted to loose weight, I'm approximately 50lbs overweight, so I said yes and he prescribed Byetta, which I found out from another doctor in his office that he should not have given me because Byetta, which can cause weight loss, is for diabetics which I am not. This doctor seems to be well informed in his specialty of Endocrinology but lacks tact and bedside manners.Hope this helps someone avoid having an unpleasant exprerience.
