Dr. Jay Scott Roden, MD

Back in 2017 Dr. Roden did a medical procedure ( The Kasia) on my 3 yr old son at children's medical city. He did amazing job on him. I will love for Dr. Roden to see my son soon. Thank you Dr. Roden

Doctor never introduced himself never even acknowledged or greeted me or my child, just went straight to procedure. Did not get consent for surgery I had to tell them to obtain it, then they checked off explained risks and complication check box of which they never did. He did not properly infiltrate enough anesthetic and my son felt most of procedure never did he stop to put more. You leave there with out written instructions of anything. This is the worst experience I had with a doctors office and the surgeon himself . Completely rude and ignoring the parent. I happen to be a physician and know how things are supposed to be this practice is a disgrace.

Dr. Roden was supposed to perform an operation on our daughter after she was born, for a condition that ended up being misdiagnosed (I don't fault him for misdiagnosis necessarily, since he's not a perinatologist, but it does make you wonder why he didn't question or review things in more detail and maybe could have caught it prenatally). When she was born and they realized the condition was more severe, they needed to transfer her to Children's. Dr. Roden didn't have time to 'stop by' and tell us what was going on with our daughter on an undescribably scary day. He called my husband, and in a few words made it seem as though her condition was so dire that we shouldn't proceed with any surgeries at all and maybe just let nature take it's course. Now I don't fault the man for that, given the rarity of the condition, I'm assuming he just wasn't familiar enough to really say - but why not just say that, that you don't know enough? Can you imagine receiving news like that on the day your… child is born? Shocking. Here's my real beef with them now - they are trying to appeal charges with my insurance today, over 1 year later, when they actually already got overpaid b/c they were able to bill under the code for what they would have done had her condition been what they expected, and he'd followed her the whole 2 months she was in the NICU. Instead, he did one quick thing to get her ready enough to be transferred to Children's, and then didn't stop by my room where I was recovering to update me until the next evening. I will say their billing dept did admit this error and wrote off the remaining $5k balance they were trying to say I owed (after having to get in contact with Dr. R to get the scoop on the situation, per her words). However, they have rec'd $12k from our insurance to date, and are still sending in appeals, so we have to get letters from our insurance constantly reminding us of a very bad and scary time in our lives. Not fun. $12k isn't enough, really? That's more than some of the surgeons that were in her 9 HOUR long procedure billed, and he was with her for under 15 minutes. Funny thing is, a mom of a child with the condition they thought my daughter had, had warned us against Dr. Roden. Oh, if only we had of listened. Please, don't waste your time with these docs and just go straight to Children's, where they truly can handle anything, if you've got any type of serious or rare condition.

Brought my daughter into the Medical City ER for a possible appendicitis. Dr. Roden was the doctor on call, he quickly assessed the situation once all test results were back and immediately took her into surgery, stating "this is what he would do if it were his child." He followed up in the hospital for our release and was very personable and friendly. Completely felt comfortable with the situation and that we had placed our daughter in good hands. Have plans for him to assess our other daughter for a possible hernia. Our son has been a patient of one of his partners in the past and was not as impressed with the partner.

Dr. Roden is an excellent doctor . He not only listened to me talk about my child's problem he listen to my child as well, and was very professional, while talking to my child but spoke with him in a manner he'd understand . When we left the office my child was very satisfied with what Dr. Roden had told him .
