Dr Bernard is the most knowledgeable physician and compassionate. The staff is also helpful and kind. So happy to find a doctor that could help me manage my pain issues!
Before hiring this doctor please research his legal history. He has two dismissed malpractice lawsuits but that doesn't mean they weren't settled out of court. Further, the documents for both cases were destroyed. He also has a case filing for forcible entry in 1997. A doctor within Mr. Bernard's practice said I needed pain management. His words to me were, "we have a pain management doctor but feel free to research him or make a different choice." I felt this was odd for a doctor to say but now understand the undeying meaning. Never will I chose a doctor without checking their history!
He speaks with thick French accent. He is rude, verbally abusive, laughs at my pain, denying what the MRI and XRAY show. Substandard care, bordering on malpractice. Stopped mess COLD. NO weaning. A MONSTER!
Abysmally rude doctor who appears inept. Did not review medical record at all, wanted to commence EMG on wrong arm, rude and generally awful. Avoid him if you can.
He is a very good doctor, he listens to u. And he does a very good job. He has a great staff.
I refused the shots because I have been through them and they did not work. That is why my last option was surgery. Which has left me worse . becausebecause I have had my spine fused I guess I shouldn't be in pain. But I am. I was referee to him and when I said no to the shots he got into my face an said no shots no pain medicine. Needless to say I walked put without pain medicine. What is sad is as I was sitting in his office waiting to be called in I heard a couple speaking about how much pain meds they get and how much they sell their pain meds for. I wouldn't take mybdogs to this ignorant a@@
I had been his PA patience for nearly a year. Xrays and MRIs were taken revieled painful spinal stenosis and bursitis. After nearly a year of treatment I was switched Bernard. He walked in, opened his mouth and derrided me for taking pain killers HIS PA prescribed! He laughed at me and said my fybromyalgia, bursitis, stenosis were not something he would treat. He talked OVER me. Said "this last time you take these menications." He is a mad man! Not civilized, rude. He ENJOYS demeaning patients. If you have REAL pain see ANYONE but this terrible excuse for a doctor.
Dr. is very proficient and caring. He used a lot of extra effort to make sure I was comfortable during the spinal injection. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone.
I can't believe this "man" is still practicing at TOC. The absolute worst "doctor" I've ever been to in 40 years. Rude, arrogant, zero compassion. Lost my insurance, had to self pay, he lowered meds I'd been on for many years and I eventually ended up in a psychiatric facility with depression and severe withdrawal. As he left the examining room, after a one-minute consult, he made snide remarks. To Hillcrest/UPC: Shame on you. To any patient who is considering seeing him: Run, if you can, go anywhere but there. And remember it's not your fault, it's him!
The doctor is rude, and doesnt listen to his patients at all.
Was professional enough to tell me he didn't know me therefor he didn't trust me. Then ordered a MRI after I told him I had a joint replaced (ie. metal). Next gave me a shot of "pain medicine" (toradol) after I told him I had asthma, high blood pressure, arthritis, & lupus!!!!!! Lastly waited 9 days to tell me that my apt. was cancelled for the tenth day.
Dr Bernard has a degree in physical medicine. He is NOT a pain specialist. He has no comprehension of medications nor their effect on people. He told me to stop taking a medication another Dr had been giving me for 5 yrs. he confused it with a different medication. Had I not asked my other dr about this I would have had a violent reaction to suddenly stopping something he knew nothing about. He has no business passing out pain pills anymore than I do. My heart rate of 40 sent me to the ER for taking what he was giving me. If you value your life, stay away.
dr bernard walked in the door /made fun of me -mocked me walked out /horrible experience/ being goint to the orthopedic center for over three years/everyone i have dealt with very professional and courteous// this docter was horrible
Dr. Bernard has zero bed side manner will not listen at all very bad at giving any injections and he refused to sedate me while doing four injections does not come close to giving medicine for pain he will just let a person suffer all that matters to him is doing any kind of injections the things that he will make the most money doing He hurt me so very bad I was screaming and crying he told me he would NOT hit a nerve on the 4th injection he hit a nerve I told him he hit a nerve and he said Yes I know I did would not take my dog to this doctor I would not even give him one star but to submit this review I had to
By all means, if you are referred here, don't go. Dr. Bernard lives up to the stereotype that French people are rude and ugly. My wife was referred here back in 2007-2008 for pain management by one doctor who was let go. Then, another doctor took her over and he left. Then, she got Bernard who was supposed to monitor her chart but had her PAs give her prescriptions. They put her on some heavy stuff that really affected her health. Then, when they discovered the mistake, they took her off and she had withdrawal symptoms. The staff look like convicts with visible tattoos up and down their arms, not professional, and there were times when I think Bernard was telling her to go somewhere else. This man doesn't belong in a hospital. He should go back to France and they should cancel his visa and never let him return. He's not saving lives. Thankfully, my wife is no longer seeing him nor going to the medical office. If someone tells you to go to the Tulsa Orthopedic Center, by all means, get a second or third or fourth opinion.
I am very pleased with Dr. Bernard. He is very kind and concerned with the pain. On the other hand, Ms. Townsend, his newest RN has zero rating in bedside manner and very unprofessional in presentation in dress. You will feel guilty for even coming in. Once, you get to Dr. Bernard to speak to him, you will be treated very well. Some ideas to get you started:-Write about overall experiences-Write about what you like or dislike about your physician-Write about whether you would recommend-Write as if you are talking to a peer who is asking your opinion
Rudest man I ever met! Speaks very broken English, bad enough that I couldn't understand what he was saying. He walked into the patient room... no hello, no how are you doing... just raised his voice and started yelling at me. For what? I'll never know, his actions were uncalled for. He has a reputation for being rude and obnoxious. Perhaps he should learn some common courtesy, because if he keeps treating people the way he treated me, he'll soon have no PCP referring hurting people to him!
Clinic was a bad experience every time went. Have no insurance, so paid cash before each visit. There for pain management, but Dr. never saw me, only has nurse prescribe me narcotics without examining or questioning me about my disability causing pain each time. Only discussed her personal life & issues to me. Wrongly accused of owing for visits called me in for & then not seeing me. Yelled at by management. Nurse called pharmacy & told not to fill prescriptions given. Left with no drugs instantly. Been on narcotics for years and have to for life, but clinic is forcing instant withdrawals. Different Dr. told this is illegal, they must give one month worth of meds. Also found falsified parts of medical records. They are there for money only & treat person like a number.
I was recommended to Dr. Bernard for pain treatment. When I arrived for my 1st visit I was quickly ushered in and with no discussion or information about treatment given an injection. It worked well and I was told to come back in 1 mo but not told the purpose of next visit. On 2nd visit I was refused treatment because I had not discontinued blood thinner -- but had not been told to do so.On 3rd visit I had just finished a regimen of antibiotics for an urinary tract infection -- was at first refused treatment, but when my husband threw a fit, Dr. Bernard decided he could give the injection. It worked well.On 4th visit I had had surgery and still had stitches in my foot. I was again refused treatment.I was never told about the restrictions regarding this treatment, and if Dr. Bernard had communicated them to me, I would have spared the two bootless 140 mile drives to his office. I am not going back!
My pc dr. Sent me to this dr.Bernard The first visit I should have realized it would not be good. He did not seem to listen and the next visit he basically told me if I did not have a procedure he felt I needed even though I explained I had had all these producers done which did not workSo I had spinal fusion done which is causing me more pain now. My surgeon tells me I should not be in pain and basically told me to find a pain drMy second and last visit to bernard was just being yelled at by him . He told me the only way he would refill my pain meds was to have the procedure, needless to say I never got a pain med refillI would tell anyone with an appointment to this dr be prepared to be treated like dirt
I'm a quadriplegic, with three pinched nerves in my neck (verified by MRI). Having been disabled for over 20 years from an accidental gunshot wound to the head I can say that I have seen my fair share of doctors. I have found Dr. Bernard attentive to my needs & exceptionally knowledgeable in my three visits to see him. My primary care physician, who I've had for the last three years, doesn't seem to have a problem with him either. I know this is all based on opinion & other reviewers don't like him, but my experiences have been really good with Dr. Bernard. I'm going back to Dr. Bernard for periodic treatment for my condition & would recommend him for anyone in a similar situation.FYI Dr. Bernard is foreign-born and his mannerisms may be interpreted by some as being rude and/or arrogant. (Just trying to explain for the unfavorable opinions.)
I have titled this as Dr. Death because I feel as if Dr. Bernard is trying to kill me. I had a brain tumor removed and I survived. However, I have developed pain that will not go away because of nerve damage due to the tumor. My pain medicine has been reduced since the other wonderful Dr. left the practice and I have been in constant pain since then. He doesn't listen to my concerns, he is one sided and pompous. Dr. Batiste is his goffer and serves no purpose. She never listens to my concerns and tries to tell me I have lower back pain. I have never had lower back pain and I tried to tell her that but she still put that down in my chart. Do Not Go to these Doctors!! Save your time and money. I am at the point of no return. My pain has gotten the best of me and I am no good to anyone anymore. My family always tells me how worried they are about me and I am trying to find another Doctor.
I have accompanied my husband to all of his appointments with Dr. Bernard and he treated him like a drug user every time. My husband is an ex-cop who'se never used any drugs in his life other than the pain meds he's had to take when he's had surgery. His PC referred him to pain managment in hopes of getting his pain under control for the total knee replacement he needed and this jerk off decreased his meds a week before surgery! Had the surgeon not spoken up, my husband would've spent every night after surgery in the ER trying to control his post-op pain. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to my worst enemy!
DR refused to cooperate with his partner and the partner left so the patients were left with Dr bernard to treat them and he refused leaving them without any help or referals. Most patients were on pain control and were left in great pain and without the medication that they had been getting from him for years and because he would not treat them they were left to go into withdrawal on top of the pain that they were being treated for.
