Dr. Jean Kathryn Calhoun, MD

Dr. Calhoun is fantastic! She is extremely professional without being stuffy. She takes the time to listen to all your concerns and questions and reviews everything with you. She explained fully all my options and let me decide what would be the best approach for my situation. Every office visit has been pleasant with minimal waiting. I would highly recommend her for your dermatology needs.

I have no qualms of Dr Calhoun’s qualifications, but this is my experience. I had an appt scheduled one month in advance to remove a small area affected by squamous cell cancer. I received a text twice reminding me of my appt and I was asked to confirm by text which I did, twice. When I arrived for my appt I was told their system showed I cancelled two days earlier and they scheduled someone else in my place. I showed them my correspondence with them on my cell proving I did not cancel and they said it didn’t matter, their system showed different. I left and Dr Calhoun lost a patient due to the incompetence of her staff.

Dr Calhoun was ill mannered, insensitive, and unprofessional.

She is a wonderful doctor. She doesn't rush you or talk down to you. She uses words you understand and drawings to describe what she is explaining, when necessary. She is also very thorough.

I recently visited Dr Calhoun, her bedside manner is awful, she appears to not care, and does not listen to your questions, very rude. However her nurse, Renae was very sweet, kind, caring and knowledgeable.

Dr Calhoun took the time to listen to me. I did not feel rushed like other offices. She helped me understand the problem and took care of it right away. The office staff was friendly and helpful too.

Wasn't impressed with her. I have scleroderma, and had some patches on my skin. Also had a place that looked suspicious. She used liquid nitrogen on everything.

It was a very good experience. Friendly and caring staff. Appt. Was at 3 and i was out by 330.

Poor diagnosis

I went to Dominion Dermatology Group and Dr. Calhoun needing to get a bump reviewed and removed on my leg. Dr. Calhoun spent time with me, listened to my concerns, explained what needed to be done and biopsied the growth. I was informed quickly of the results. Luckily for me it was not cancer and my leg looks good. I also appreciated the nice office staff and calm environment.
