Dr. Jean Schulman

I have a rare type of cancer and in my experience, Dr. Schulman told me that she would NOT follow normal protocal and guidelines to monitor it, (CT's and labs every six months for 10 years). That is the industry standard and she felt that she was above it. Needless to say, I switched and found a doctor who cared more about the patient and protocol, than shoddy opinions and judgements. Right around my five year mark, from my first cancer being removed, a metastisis was found in my liver. Without propper monitoring, and following the every sixth month National Guidlines, it may not have been found in time to try and fight/beat it. At least I have a chance to try, now. She also refused to test me for a genetic condition, after a small clot was found in my 40's and the ER staff suggested testing, since I was under 50. Instead she said, "I am not testing you, you were stupid and provoked it", because I had been on a long drive, one that I have done 10+ times before. The ER staff… said that it was odd to have one under 50 and to see my hemotologist, to have the testing done. Unfortuneately my father became very ill shortly after my clot was found, and I was his caretaker for over two months. Because Dr. Schulman had not seen me, since his illness was an emergency and across the country, when I ran out of the blood thinner that I had been put on in the ER, she refused to refill it unless she saw me first, which was impossible at that time. When I did see her, she was rude, mean and blaming me for not continuing it. I did not have out of state insurance and my father had more urgent and important needs, so I waited until I got back to AZ and could see her. She was beyond awful to me, the whole appointment. When I switched to the better and more knowledgable oncologist, I was genetically tested and DO have two blood clotting factors. Last Fall, I had two occluded leg veins with 18+ inch clots and a Pulmonary Embolism (a clot that goes through your heart and into your lung). If you are lucky like I was, it was small. My grandmother died from a larger PE. My mother also has one of the two clotting factors. But Dr. Schulman still did not care to even test it and instead blamed it on me. I found that in my chart she made constant derogetory remarks about my weight and being sad and frustrated with feeling so run down and poorly. She knew that my immune system was low and that I could have been given infusions to help bring them to a normal level, but even in her notes about several things that were flagged, she said that she chose not to. And she knew that I was stuggling, fatigued and constantly sick. Fortunately, these notes were all in the old portal, printed and saved before taked down. I would suggest that you stay away and find someone who cares about the patient, more than what she thinks or feels like doing. It might save your life.

She successfully took care of my wife a decade ago for breast cancer and is not treating me for multiple myloma (sp?). We trust her. She takes time to answer questions.

Dr. Schulman is wonderful. I was anxious going into the office. Her staff were very friendly and welcoming. Dr. Schulman is so easy to talk to. She spends all the time you want with you and explains everything in detail. It's like talking to a friend. She has an amazing attitude that rubs off on you. Cancer because a little easier to bear. Go see her.

This lady is an excellent Physician ! Dr Schulman is one of those people whom you feel comfortable with. She takes the time to answer any questions you have. I have never felt rushed at any appointment with her. She is professional and easy to talk to. I feel fortunate to have her as my Oncologist.

Took her time with me, made me feel like I was talking to a family member rather than a Doctor. Very happy with the service she provided.

Staff were friendly. Dr. Schulman was caring and compassionate. She answered all of my questions and concerns. She made me feel like I was talking to an old friend.
