Dr. Jeffrey Michael Jacobson, MD

Dr. Jacobson is Professor of Medicine and Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases and HIV Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine. Dr. Jacobson received his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College, New York, NY. He completed his internship at University of Wisconsin Hospitals, Madison, WI, and his residency and infectious disease fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center, New York, NY. Dr. Jacobson is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He currently sees patients in the Partnership Comprehensive Care Practice. He serves as Chair of the Translational Research and Drug Development (TRADD) Committee of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) and is a member of the Scientific Agenda Steering Committee of the ACTG. Previously, he was Chair of the Therapeutic Immunology Subcommittee. Dr. Jacobson has extensive experience in the design and conduct of immune-based studies for HIV infection. He has …chaired and co-chaired numerous protocols within the ACTG. He conducted the pivotal studies in the ACTG that demonstrated the effectiveness of thalidomide in treating HIV-related aphthous ulceration of the oropharynx and esophagus. Dr. Jacobson also collaborates with several biotechnology companies in developing monoclonal antibodies targeting proteins involved in the HIV-host cell interaction that leads to viral entry. Dr. Jacobson has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, and was the editor of "Immunotherapy for Infectious Diseases."
