Patient Reviews ? Write a Review
I've never really had much of an issue with Dr. Johnston. He knows his stuff and is a nice guy. He is very long-winded though but "in the grand scheme of everything" isn't the worst thing.. but just in the grand scheme, you know. (he says that constantly). He does seem rushed at times so he talks very fast. I like him though, fine doctor.
I have recently started with this this physician and I am shocked with how he felt he could speak/treat me. He comes across as an arrogant person. Some may like this, however I did not. When confronted on how implied his demeanor he did not even acknowledge instead he dismissed me. I will never go back to man and I warn others!!!!
WoW..... what a difference of opinions!!! My husband and I have been seeing Dr Johnston for several years and trust him explicitly! He gives me great advice and understands me! He is very informative and is respectful of me and my concerns! My husband and I hopes he will be our doctor for years to come!!
I have had nothing but great experiences with Dr Johnston. I have been his patient for 5 years now. He speaks quickly. I feel he needs to tell me as much as he can about my issue and I like this. he has always listened to what I needed to say. He thinks out loud. I have seen doctors who listen, examine, prescribe and then never explain why. reading these reviews I am utterly astounded. He could be Jeckle and Hyde, but he is definitely the doctor for me.
I am shocked with how this PCP treated me and never been talked to or treated so poorly in all the years of seeing a physician. I agree with below and hope that Mercy does look at these comments because they obviously need to do something.
Horrible. Dr. Johnston has no interest in what you (the patient) has to say. He is interested in belittling you and telling you how you should live your life. Good luck getting treated for the actual problem. Narcissism at it's finest!
I really wish Mercy would pay attention to the reviews on this physician. All of the negative reviews are spot on as I had a horrendous experience as well.
If you don't mind being treated like you are clueless about your health and don't dare to question him you'll be good. I was released from his care because he can't handle someone questioning his diagnosis eve though I had a terrible cough for over two months. An over inflated, narcissistic complex who talks more to hear himself talk than what you have to say. I'm sure the staff is tired of the blathering dribble coming out of his mouth. Good riddance. A Quack he is not but if you are a patient I would DUCK out.
I have never witnessed such arrogance before in my life. Very unprofessional and did not help with my care.
I am not shocked with how many unhappy reviews this physician has and they are spot on with my experience as well. I agree that someone within Mercy needs to focus on these reviews and make sure he is aware as well. Even though I doubt he will change. He treated me poorly and I will make sure to inform all that I know.
He may be kind to some however my few visits with have been horrible each time. He is a very rude person and did not express concern for my issue or give me time. Beware of seeing him for your care..... moving on and hopefully Mercy doesn't get a bad name because of him!!!!
I think Dr. Johnston is professional and a great doctor! As an RN, I think he is one of the best around. My husband, AJ, doesn't like doctors, but he does like Dr. Johnston. He is always very accurate with any diagnosis and his bedside manner is great. No problems at all, ever with him. I saw him years ago at Healthsource as well. He also spends more than 5 minutes with me unlike other doctors. He takes the time to listen to me which is why I think he is the best!
Dr. Johnston took a great deal of time with my appointment. He has excellent knowledge about endocrinology / diabetes, and takes time to explain medications. I think he is a fine doctor.
I don't know what all these bad reviews are about. I think he has a lot of bitter, nasty people as patients! He has always been nice and respectful to me. I have no problem with him at all and I hate to see doctors. If you don't like him than switch instead of being a troll and attacking him online!
If you like someone who does all of the talking and jumps to conclusions on your care then see him otherwise please be CAUTIONED and seek a more qualified physician for your care.
I tried to give this physician more than one chance to prove he could be nice and understanding instead each time he proved how rude he could be. He needs to be taught how his bedside manner should be to keep patients.
dr was very rude each time i visited i do not need a rude dr bed side manners are terible
Kept me waiting for almost an hour and walls are so thin could here in the room next to me. He talks to much, social chit-chat. Then during my visit he was in and out giving me inadequate time.
I recommend that the below comments about this physicians attitude be read. I agree with all of them and my experience was the same as most of them. Paul Thompson stated it best so read his. I agree this man should not be caring for others and should be working in a different field.
Rude...boy, did he show me who the boss was!
After reading the reviews it doesn't seem that people are overly sensitive especially when they are paying this Doctor who should have a good bed side manner. I know people don't always mesh but he needs to figure out and learn how to do this. His ego is way to big and it shows. I dont beleive he was having a off day either since he has been this way before while seen. Time to move on and find a better PCP.
I recently switched to this dr after years with my prior dr. I wanted someone closer to my age and with a modern approach to medicine. It's obvious this guy is smart and I trust him 100%. All of these negative review don't make sense to me unless it's from people who are overly sensitive.
His bedside manner is awful and I can take a blunt person, but without the God complex. He is no better than me just because he has MD behind his name. I appreciate the fact that he made it through school and his boards, but learn how to interact with others without being a total jerk. I have never been treated so poorly by a physician before. I will be informing others of how he is and recommend that they or anyone they know not see this physician.
My experience with Dr Johnston has been nothing but good. Detail oriented. I argue good bedside manor. He cares about my health. He is blunt, but I prefer this. Great doctor
My daughter saw this physician because her PCP was not in the office. All of the negative comments are spot on with how this man is and someone with mercy should re-evalute his employment. He should not be working with patients becase his bedside manner is horrible!!!
For the record, I ended up being a patient of Dr. Johnston by default only because the doctor I had been with for years (Steffen) left the medical field. I would have never picked this doctor in a million years even if he were the last doctor available and I was gravely ill. I have only seen him a few times, but each time his attitude gets more and more snooty and his communication skills have gotten worse each time too. The way that he talks to you during an appointment is down right rude and demeaning. I'm in the process of finding a new doctor as I type this review. Zero follow-up on anything. You'd be better off choosing another doctor before settling for this guy.
CAUTION to anyone who has chosen him as their physician. He did not listen not give me good care. I had a illness that could have put me in the hospital and he did not provide a lab order to assure the first round of antibiotics worked. I had to contact the office manager to provide the lab order, so if you want good care don't see Dr. Johnston.
First visit with Dr. Johnston was fine. Follow up visit was a disaster. He came in with an attitutde and left with an attitutde. If he treats others as he treated me not only will his practice never grow he may impact on how the office is viewed and impact the other physicians who have to share space with him. He is young and obviously not taught how to treat others. Hopefully with time his bed side manner will improve or Mercy should look at my comlaint along with the many listed to see if maybe he should not being having patient contact.
I have worked in the medical field since 1994. I have never encountered nor seen one of the physicians I have worked fro treat a patient as poorly as this physician treated me. His bedside manner is horrible and it started from the moment he walked into the exam room. He needs to realize I an equal to him and I am the customer. I will reach out to my family and friends to inform about this physician. He needs to realize his actions have consequences and bad day or not act like a professional.
Great appointment today. Thank you Dr for all you have done for me. Will see you again in a few months.
staff is great. Dr Johnston uis the best
I am very disappointed with Dr. Johnston. My husband went to see this physician suffering acute panic attacks. Dr. Johnston elected to keep him on ineffective medication and refused appropriate care. This approach is completely neglegent, careless and shows abandonment of his patient. It is my full intention to file a complaint against this physican for his unethical conduct and request a review of his practices.
I don't know what is wrong with you all. I see lots of complaints with no specifics. Dr johnston has taken care of me for some time. He does talk a lot, but it has always been informative. He has always explained everything well. He is Very cordial. I have always gotten along with him. These reviews are all black and white. The only trend that I see on the bad side here is that he "has a god complex", ect. I totally disagree. I will say that sometimes he gets sidetracked talking with me, but my care has been excellent. He is very thorough.
Never had a visit like this before with any physician I have seen. Bad day or not nobody should be treated this poorly by someone who chose to be a so called professional. Please choose wisely before seeing this physician.
I think many of the below statements are spot on with their opinions by giving a bad review. I was not a former patient of Dr. Steffen, so missing him and getting adjusted is not the case for me. This physician's inexperience showed and should work in a Morgue!!!!
This physician has a horrible bed side manner and has a God compex. The way I was treated and spoke to has never happened to me before. I would not recommend my worst enemy to see this physician.
I have seen this "Doctor," unfortunately, for about a year now. I am 61 years old. Never in my entire life have I met a "physician," so nasty. He has absolutely NO bedside manner. He is extremely rude. I saw him today and my visit was SO BAD, that I had to call the office manager and complain. He is only 34 years old and believe me, his inexperience shows. I would not take my dog to see this man and I don't even have a dog. He is horrible. PLEASE, PLEASE, do not see this man for any of your ailments. The worst physician I have ever had in my life, going back to when I saw Pediatricians as a little boy. He should be working at McDonalds.
I think Dr. Johnston is a great doctor! He spend the needed time with me or family every visit. I do not mind to wait because I know he is taking care of other patients. Not only does Dr. Johnston really care but his nurse is so sweet. She does whatever she can to help you. There is a email system called MyChart. She is so quick to respond. Normally a good doctor doesn't have a good staff or nurse, but he does! I will always stay with Dr. Johnston thank you for all you have done and will do for me!
I was a patient of Dr. Steffan whom i liked very much, however i am very happy with Doctor Johnston. He is very helpful and a very knowledgeable doctor. My 4 month old has been going to him as well and I have had no problems. It gives me peace of mind to know that my son has a good, smart doctor like Dr. Johnston to go to when he inevitably gets sick, hurt, etc.
He likes to speak mostly about himself and his time in med school and residency. I actually had to interrupt him several times so that I could tell him what was bothering me. I spent 1 hour waiting and then 1 hour with him talking... and talking... and... talking.
I had two unpleasant experiences with my sons and Dr. Johnston. We had previously been patients of Dr. Tim Steffen and had wonderful care from him; after he left, we were referred to Dr. Johnston. My 12-year-old's teachers had concerns with his ADHD medication, so I talked to Dr. Johnston about changing his meds. Dr. Johnston was unwilling to treat my son, saying he thought he had behavioral/mental issues and sent us to Child Focus. Three months later I am still waiting for an appointment and help for my son. I also took my older son in to see Dr. Johnston to potentially prescribe some ADD medication. Dr. Johnston was very accusatory of my son and said that he thought he had defiant issues--after just meeting him. My son, who was never had any issues in school related to defiance, was not receptive to Dr. Johnston. After leaving the office, my son was very upset and said he would never go back to that doctor again. So we were not able to begin any type of treatment for his potential ADD. Very upsetting that this doctor was so antagonizing toward a 14-year-old of whome he had no knowledge. We are now looking for a new doctor.
Great physician, really knows his business. Is interested in you as a patient and gets to the heart of what is troubling you with very appropriate, timely and excellent care
Dr Johnston is a wonderful doctor. He spends time to explain things well
