It is freightening to go to a cancer unit for treatment. I felt at ease with Dr. Filicko. It was like talking to one of my girlfriends. She explains everything in plain language. Tells you the good as well as the worst that could happen. But prepares one in a way that if the worst happens you are prepared to face it. She takes time with patients There is a systemic problem that appointments are cancelled quite a bit. It seems like the oncology docs' schedules are less predictable. so you make an appointment for 3-6 mos in the future and a week or so before it gets cancelled. The appt is cancelled an you have to go to the back of the "line and start all over- waiting another 2 to 3 months. The wait time is long. Have to get the first appt of the day. But the wait is as a result of her taking her time with patients. So ones does not mind as much. the office staff is courteous. There are snacks put out ! Even sandwiches in the infusion center, if you are there for treatment.… Sometimes you don't feel like eating but later in the day you may feel like eating. The snacks help with this problem. Her bedside manner is wonderful. She takes time reviewing charts and coming up with a diagnosis and also making sure one understand their medical condition regardless of its complexity, Dr. Filicko is able to expain the condition in laymen's terms. You also leave uplifted and know ing what the next treatment step(s) will be.. It they can just do something about their appointment system. It is not her fault but the hospital. I would recommend her to a friend. I am glad that my dr referred me to Dr Filicko.
