Dr. John Marshall Armitage, MD

My mother is about to celebrate the first time meeting him 17 years ago tomorrow. I had just turned 11 and went with my parents. He is the reason I have always been fascinated with anatomy and one of the reasons I am now in EMS. Most importantly, he is the reason my mom is as strong as she is now that she has her onyx valve. I didn't understand then how close we were to losing her. Eternally grateful to this wonderful man and look forward to seeing what all he continues to accomplish. - A Thankful Child

Summer of 1995, after being in Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia for a week of running tests, you and your team operated on me and replaced my heart valve with a “Saint Jude Ceramic Heart Valve “ and as I enter this comment, as of today that valve is still working strong. 0ver 35 years it kept my alive and more to come. Am very glad I had the chance to meet such a wonderful, kind doctor in my area. Was very sorry to hear that he left the area. Hope to see him the next time I visit my family in the future. I was a patient in 2008 and Dr. Armitage is the best ever. Saved my life. I have never heard one negative remark!! His skills and care are 100%. His personality, time spent with patients and his bedside manner are the best I have ever encountered. He takes great time with every patient and I wish he was still with us in Fredericksburg. He is missed and loved by so many. I hope he and his family are well and happy. He is so kind, careful, intelligent and very special.

Back in 2002 when Dr Armitage was in Fredericksburg VA he did a 5 bypass on my dad. He took the time to sit with the whole family (my parents have 8 kids) and explain everything to us in detail which made us feel so much more comfortable about the surgery. My dad was 62 and had never been sick a day in his life. He was up walking the halls less than 8 hours after his surgery. I fit wasn't for Dr Armitage we would have lost my dad then but thanks to him we had another almost 7 years left with him. He passed away in 2008 from compications from the flu shot. Hopefully Dr Armitage is seeing this and I just wanted to thank him for everything that he did for my dad. With love and thankfulness, The Hatchel Family

Being somewhat of a physical fitness fanatic all my life I was surprised by the severe case of angina that landed me in the hospital at age 60. Following a battery of tests, it was determined that the arteries to my heart were about 90 % clogged. Early the very next morning I was the recipient of a triple bypass CABG. Dr. Armitage did an excellent job. I was on my feet the day following surgery, walking the halls the second day and went home only 75 hours after the triple bypass. It's been two years since that experience and I am grateful to Dr. Armitage for these last two wonderful years.
