Dr. John Bernard Devine, MD

I had seen Dr. Devine after months of acute, severe, intractable, pelvic, and lower back pain, abdominal swelling, and constipation, which I believed to be ovarian cancer. I could not sit, stand, lie down, or sleep. He told me I had a urinary tract infection and that was where all my debilitating pain was coming from. He did give me an order for an ultrasound to rule out ovarian cancer, but it was the wrong type of ultrasound. He refused to give me any type of pain medicine whatsoever! He told me I had IC, which is Interstitial Cystitis, and it says in the literature, that this pain can be so severe that many patients contemplate suicide. I left him 5 to 6 messages today and including that fact. He never returned my call, but did send two police cars to my house!

Do not let him perform surgery. I went in for prolapsed bladder and he convinced me I needed a complete hysterectomy, cystocele, rectocele, and bladder sling. This resulted in a shortened nonfunctional vagina, bladder infection and treatment for OAB. After the worst year of my life with discomfort, found a Board Certified urologist who took out scar tissue, permanent stitches and had to replace and reposition the sling. Also informed me with an ultrasound test, that II had bladder retention, not OA B. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone.

went to him for a uti he told me he had to insert a catheter I told me NO I was told that is the only way he checks so I had to let him do it he hurt me so bad i asked him you like hurting people he told me yes it was a bad joke i was so sore i could not sit walk bend over. the whole week end. i call the office the next morning and told them of the pain and cancel my next app. i will never go back to him now he want 133.00 for the catheter i will not pay he likes to bill medicare . next i am going to report him to the medical board.

This doctor showed me pictures of his client's vaginas on his phone when i was his server at a venice beach restaurant. The pictures were close up so no ones privacy was violated but still rather creepy. My wife saw this doc for a mirena birth control device. I did not find out until after the fact so i have never her told her about this incident because it would just make her feel very uncomfortable and possibly violated.

Dr Devine is by far the best women’s doctor I’ve ever had! I recently had a hysterectomy and couldn’t ask for a better experience, especially since it was my first surgery (except for cesarean sections). He made me so comfortable during the the whole thing and even was the one that held the oxygen mask as I drifted off into neverland! All the nurses were saying how hands on he is and such a great surgeon. His staff Susan and Judy are both down to earth people. I am so overjoyed with Dr Devine and his staff, I couldn’t have been in better hands. Highly, highly recommend!

From the moment you make the appointment to the time you leave the office you are greeted with friendly and helpful people. Dr. Devine and his staff take the time to answer all of your questions and they truly make you feel like you matter. Thank you Doctor Devine!

It was my first time ever seeing a gynecologist so I was nervous, but Dr. Devine was so kind and took his time to explain everything to me and answered all my questions throroughly. I’m very happy with my visit and I highly recommend him!!

Had a referral from my PCP, but was told he left...

I loved Dr. Devine and his nurse! This was my first time going to a male gynecologist and he did not disappoint. He answered every single one of my questions. He is very chatty which is refreshing because most doctors don't even give you the time of day! I was able to sit and chat with his nurse as well. I can see where people would maybe give him a 1 star for his comments, but I think they are being a bit ridiculous! He's trying to make a tense situation, funny LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE! He talked to me about some other issues I was having and he didn't make me feel bad at all and told me everything he was willing to do to help. Anyways, he was very professional during my exam and actually did more than my old Gynecologist would! I would definitely recommend Dr. Devine to any woman!
