Dr. John Richard Barbour, MD

Dr. Barbour did my surgery at the end of 2017. Since the surgery, my thumb ias been stuck in position and I can not move it. It looks abnormal and in worse condition than before the surgery. Dr. Barbour never told me all the information I needed about the surgery and was in a rush to get it done because he was transitioning to his own office. Now I have to live with a deformed thumb for the rest of my life. He did a terrible job on my stitching, I have a huge unnecessary scar on my hand now.

Dr. Barbour was called in when I came to the ER for a pinky finger injury. He fixed the deep cut and was so nice and funny during the visit. I went to his office a week later for a follow up and they were all so nice.

The surgery was to repair the wing after a muscle flap surgery.He disappeared from Georgetown post surgery.Dr.Attinger picked up his patients and referred me to other doctors.Noone can repair the “steak size”as Barbour referred to the amount removed.Arm/shoulder has dropped. Strap will not stay up.Pain is on going.Deformaty and muscle movement is devastating.

I had a panniculectomy to resolve the issue I was having with my C-section incision. I had done some research of my own on the procedure & spoke to a few women who had the procedure done and they all had their belly buttons redone, Dr insisted that redoing belly button is not part of the procedure, and that it wasn't a tummy tuck, just a panniculectomy (even though his website states "A panniculectomy requires a new opening for the bellybutton"). Day of procedure he was more than an hour late. He also removed my drain even though I was still draining 70+ cc every 24 hrs, chances of seroma likely. I called to let him know that I have a hard lump on my left side but was told not to worry about it by his assistant. Overall I felt dismissed with my concerns.

I had several nerve injuries to my ankle and leg. I am thankful he could help the pain stop.

I recently had Dysport injections with Dr. Barbour. His office staff is super friendly and he runs on time for appointments. Dr. Barbour is very personable and spends a great deal of time explaining any procedure and answering any questions. I’m thrilled with my results. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Barbour is amazing at everything he does. He is a spectacular nerve and hand surgeon, but not everyone knows that he is also fantastic at cosmetic surgeries and injections. Not pushy, what is the most important. Thank you, Dr. Barbour, for everything you do

Very calm and knowledgeable and made me at ease. Also very humble. I would definitely getting his opinion if you have a nerve injury. His bedside manner gave me reason for hope.

Dr Barbour came to the ED to put stitches in our son after an accident. He was very friendly and very patient and the entire experience was smooth. The ER nurses said he’s their favorite doctor. Most ERs probably don’t let you request any doctor you want, but any parent or patient would be lucky if Dr Barbour is available to help.

Dr Barbour spent probably an hour with me the first time I went to see him. He let me tell him my entire story (unlike other doctors) and he understood my pain and frustration. As someone who had been to so many doctors over so many years, I can tell you he is VERY different. He listens. He understands. And makes you feel like a person (not just another blip on their schedule). I've seen him for 4 months now and he always remembers me. He knows my problem (which other doctors ignored for years) and he always gives me a hug when he leaves the room. I'm feeling great after the surgery, but more importantly I feel like a human again. People in pain need more compassion, and he delivered it for me.
