Dr. John P Cuellar, MD, FACOG

Asked to speak to my husband alone to talk about my pregnancy options. Both of us were floored. THEN he got defensive when we asked for genetic testing and preached at us about not getting an abortion, which wasn't on our mind anyway.

Dr Cuellar delivered my youngest son 29 years ago, did my hysterectomy a few years ago and now is getting me through the stages of menopause. He is kind, considerate, and never in a hurry. He always explains everything and wants to hear what my concerns are. There are few people I trust and he is one of them. He and his nurse Melissa are two of the best people I know. Always there to help and listen. Please don’t retire Doc!!

Dr. Cuellar was there for me at a time other doctors could not be bothered to talk to me because “I miscarried too early). I saw him at the recommendation of a friend and was so glad I did. Dr. Cuellar went on to be my obgyn for both of my pregnancies and personally delivered my son and daughter. He treated me as though I was his daughter. His nurse Melissa felt like my sister. I always looked forward to going to see them (and I never like going to a doctor). He ALWAYS took his time to answer questions and made sure my husband was always involved in the conversation. When things took a scary turn during one of my csections he was incomplete control and we knew everything was going to be alright because I was in his care. I was sad when we moved away, because the quality of care I got with Dr. Cuellar and his team was top notch!

A friend referred me to this so called doctor. Saw him one time! He was rude, unprofessional and just a dry personality. Decided to not go back to him. Instead I drove almost an hour (one way) back to my previous gynecologist/ obstetrics. If this is what I experienced in my new environment due to relocation. I'd just rather drive the distance and get the service I deserved. Three weeks later I go a bill from my insurance, his office charged me for a whole delivery which I did not have at the time. Three months later, I got a letter in the mail claiming I was a drug addict, etc. I went to his office and they practically refused to give me my records due to some files being "lost". Worst experience ever!

After my wife got an ultrasound, he came in and was asked to provide results. His answer? "I don't know. I didn't look". Turned around and left. No goodbye, see you next week, or anything. All because my wife said no to some of his procedures. He wanted to do too many things to charge us more.

Can't compliment the doc and his staff highly enough, incredibly professional. A+ with the highest recommendation.

In 2013, I realized that I had a credit account at this doctor's office. I asked them to send me a check for it, which they did. Unfortunately, my deposit got lost in the mail and their check was never cashed. I asked them to it as a credit to my account, which they did. However, they never voided the original check. They still think I owe them that amount. After 2 phone calls, a letter, and an in-person visit, I STILL cannot straighten this out. Now I have a COLLECTION on my credit report.

My first impression was that Dr. Cuellar was a bit bizarre but I thought he was nice enough. I ended up finding out I had miscarried at my first ultrasound appointment, the doctor seemed sincere. After the miscarriage, he talked to us about birth control. I opted for an IUD and when I couldn't handle the pain of insertion, was asked if "ever had a negative experience with an OBGYN" which I thought was odd considering that the procedure is known to be painful to women who haven't had babies. Two weeks after the IUD was inserted, I was having intense lower abdominal pain. Then, on a friday afternoon at 5pm I went to the bathroom to discover I had an urinary tract infection. I called the office and got the answering service so I called the doctors personal number that he gives out for patients in need. When I called him to see if he would put in a prescription for antibiotics, he snapped at me and asked why I couldn't have called when they were open. I responded that the symptoms had only… started at 5pm and I was not aware I had an infection until that point. He then snapped again and said his daughter was visiting and I was disrupting his weekend and then hung up. After that I did not want to go back to see him but I had to to get the IUD removed. The pain was worsening and I couldn't take it anymore. When I went in to get it taken out, he insinuated that I was making up the pain and didn't act sorry at all for the rude manner in which he spoke to me on the phone. I knew going into the office that day that I would never be going back and I didn't. I would not recommended this doctor to anyone. That kind of behavior is not only extremely rude but unprofessional.

Traumatic experience no pregnant woman should be subjected to. Rude. Condescending. Shouldn't be an obstetrician.

very condescending doctor with little to no consideration of patient's feelings or wishes. without asking me, deviated from my planned birth plan, and said, oops, well, it's too late now. I tild him I had three questions to ask and he walked out of the room saying too bad. also asked me to step outside so he could discuss birth control with my husband since they knew best. Only asset is the great nurse practitioner. I will never return to this doctor again.
