If you are looking for a Doctor and Doctor John Lee is available....GRAB HIM!!! My story is 25 years old but please read it if you are trying to choose a Doctor. Dr. John Lee was referred to me by a retiring doctor my sister worked for. When we got there he and his wife were so relaxed and welcoming. My husband and I always joked that he was our "hippy doctor". He had such a great sense of humor and was very open to natural child birth. Everytime we went in it was so good to see him and if I remember correctly his wife worked at the front desk...but he could have been joking about that too...ha ha. As the pregnancy went on he was very attentive to the fact my baby was big and always encouraged exercise and healthy eating. I loved to workout and I always ate healthy so I was confused to why he was so big Dr. Lee said it was genetics (i'm 5"9 my brothers and dad are 6'4") but He never let me off the hook with exercise and good food. He would say as long as it doesn't hurt keep going… (except for ab workouts after first trimester). We joked towards the end because I always thought I was going in labor, it was my first, He would actually personally take my phone calls and say "Robin you are talking pretty good, call me back when you can't talk" and you will probably be ready. I was also concerned because we lived off Cedar Lane no matter which way we went we had to cross a draw bridge and I had extreme fear getting stuck at a open draw bridge...so you can imagine how much I bugged him. Finally one Monday morning I was feeling really bad, his office wasn't open but they were there doing paper work, He told me to come on up anyway I was relieved and shocked...we went to the back he examined me and said "call your husband, but tell him not to drive crazy, you are in labor. We called back when my husband got home from North Carolina and Dr. Lee spoke with my husband, told him to walk me around the neighborhood for awhile because they would just stick me in a room to wait, he thought it was better to walk through beginning stages of labor. We did that for a while and headed up to the hospital. He came over from his office and we all laughed and talked like old friends. Dr Lee really made this first time around so much easier, I wasn't scared at all because we had so much confidence in him. As my labor progressed and we were 4 hours into it with considerable pushing Dr. Lee gave us the bad news, that our son was in a posterior position and stuck in birthing canal , we would have to do emergency C-section. Dr. Lee said He was sorry many times and knew how much I wanted a natural birth. When he sent the nurse to get the room ready, he leaned over the bed and said we can try one thing while we wait for the room if you think you can do it, but we don't have much time, we have to get him out. He went on to tell me that if I was willing to get on my hands and knees and everytime I had a contraction sit back like a dog sits... and sometimes it makes the baby flip. It was real hard moving to that position but we did it and within 2 contractions I felt our son spin around, Dr. Lee and my husband help me turn over and out came our 9lb 15oz baby boy , just in time for the nurse to run in and say the room is ready...there stood Dr. Lee grinning from ear to ear holding Will. I have several pictures of that moment and We think about him all the time. My husband had a fishing trip planned the next day and I didn't want him to miss it, I didn't have any family around so I was bored and lonely in the hospital...in walked Dr. Lee later that day just to say hi and check on me see if I need anything, He even called later that night to see if I was ok and if my husband was back with any tuna :) Unfortunately we moved away had 2 more boys in two different states...we had to go to big practices and it was horrible. Sorry this was so long, but our son just got married and moved back to Chesapeake and we drove around to show him the hospital and Dr. Lee's office. Great Doctor, need more like him!

I love this man!!! I came to him after having one successful birth and one miscarriage. Dr. Lee came higlhly recommended by friends so I made an appointment when I found I was pregnant again. On the way to the office that day I began cramping. I arrived for my appointment and was almost immediately taken to an exam room. Dr. Lee came in and we made introductions. I told him what was happening and he was kind and gentle. He then asked my husband and I to wait in his office. He came in and told us sweetly that I was having another miscarriage. God bless him, I felt bad for him. He knew just what to say and how to act! Several months later I was back and this pregnancy took!!! Dr. Lee and I always joked around. It seemed to make things easier. I called him ' Dr. Eeyore' because he sounds like that at 8am and he's been at the hospital all night!! But believe me there could be no better doctor on the planet! I ended up having to have a c-section ( so was my first child) but… delivered a 10lb 2oz healthy baby boy. 6 months later I was back!! Pregnant again!! Dr. Lee just laughed even though I was horrified. He guided me through a very uneventful 9 months. My babies like being in utero and didn't want to leave! I told Dr. Lee that he could induce but could not break my water for this delivery. He said "hey you're calling the shots!" So after 2 miscarriages and 2 c-sections I delivered a 10 lb 11oz baby girl with no epidural and no drugs!! I was the talk of the town! But it was only because Dr. Lee knew what he was doing. He even knew EXACTLY what she weighed before she was weighed!!! Like I said... I love this man!! Just wish he were out west where I am now.

Dr. Lee delivered 2 of my babies and if he hadn't taken a brief retirement, I would have gone back to him to deliver a third. He is incredibly patient and has a Country Doc Charm to his bedside manner and a very good sense of humor. One of my favorite things he said to me was when my due date had passed "I've delivered a lot of babies and I've never seen one of them come out with a calendar." When I first went to him, I was afraid that he wouldn't like my "Natural Birth Plan" but my fears were soon laid to rest and when I checked into the hospital in full labor, I saw the nurses jump when they found out I was Dr. Lee's patients. They knew that I was not to be hooked up to monitors for hours and Gravity and Nature were going to assist in my babies deliveries. Because of his techiques, my deliveries were quick and easy. I even managed to deliver a 9lb 14oz baby naturally without any tearing or cutting. Dr. Lee told me "He'd of been a 10 pounder if they weighed him before he… pooped." Got to Love Dr. Lee :)
