Dr. John E Stevenson, MD

Am scheduled for surgery soon. So far, I am very very pleased with Dr. Winestone.

Dr. Stevenson is great. From delivering the news that surgery was the only real option through the surgery itself. He went through the front of my neck, removed a disc, then a spondylotic bar from c5-c6 (causing numbness when I looked at my toes.) Then he finished with a spinal fusion using titanium plates, screws, and donor bone. The discomfort was well managed after surgery, and was mainly in shoulder muscles and not the spine. My only issues after surgery were horrible nausea and a non-working bladder, both likely from the anesthesia. If I had to do it over again, I would have asked for Phenergan (for nausea) before surgery and asked for a listing of EVERY potential complication, since I did not expect to develop a 'retention' problem. It can happen, it does happen (about 1 out of 50 surgeries), and that was more painful than any surgery related pain. I also could not adjust my hospital bed (couldn't turn my head) to get up at least 20 times dealing with it, but that's… really a hospital issue. The surgery itself was excellent and so was the surgeon!

Had C5 C6 C7 fused and bone spurs removed. Was in great discomfort before surg.After surg was without pain within a week. Been almost 2 yrs now and hand and arms still feel good. Arthritis hurting other areas. guess to be expected.
