Dr. John Saburo Ebisu, MD

Dr. Ebisu made me come in three times for something that could have solved in one visit and we had to pay for all three visits all he called them 'follow up' visits. Never going back.

Didn't introduce himself. Didn't tell me the plan of care or what he was going to do. Didn't wash his hands. Didn't wear gloves or tell me he was going to pull off my surgical dressing, which was very painful. Left the room to get supplies, again didn't wash his hands (there are a lot of door handles to touch from my room to the supply closet), and placed a new dressing on without gloves. I tried asking him a few questions to which he replied, "I have a lot of patients. This isn't an emergency. The doctor on Monday will take care of it". He might be a good surgeon, but who cares if he is a horrible doctor to you when you're awake?

I was referred to this surgeon by a dr that was not mine, however when i spoke to MY dr later she said she would have done the same referral, so, on that note, i had some ultrasounds, done, never saw a report OR pictures of my gallbladder. when going into the room was asking the assistant if i would be shown my ultrasound pictures and the gal said "well i dont think so, you wouldnt really know what you were looking at anyway" i was floored. So when the DR came in i again asked him the same question, and he said "well no, you would not understand what your looking at anyway" WOW< i was already just irritated and floored that they would assume such things. He read my report seemingly for the FIRST time, i had not seen that either, and then proceeded to tell me i had many gall stones, needed to have surgery (something that i had nver had and im scared crazy as it is) and that if i did not then one could lodge here and cause cancer, or there and cause more cancer or inflamation of the… other organs, then said how he did the surgery (this was THE ONLY THING i liked how he described, but the other, well i was trying to to cry... I asked for a copy of my report on the images and was really unimpressed. When i called them the next day for a different reason they were more interested it seemed to get me "scheduled" than answering my questions. Guess they needed the $ for christmas. NOT impressed and if i have to trust someone, well, i guess i want to at least like them. I did manage to get a copy of my gallbladder ultrasound, and after reading the report on my own, i found i only have ONE, kinda big, but ONE gallstone, so when i remember him saying i have many, i was more upset than ever again! ID like to give im a NO star, NONE

Dr. Ebisu is very upfront about what needs to be done. He explains in detail what happens during surgery, any possible complications that could happen during surgery, and what to expect after surgery. I appreciated his honesty. I'm not sure why he has a 2.5 average rating, I had a very positive experience. I give him and his staff a 5!

Dr Ebisu does excellent work. About 5 years ago he fixed a hernia I had and it healed well and I am fully functional again. Recently I had a cyst removed from my lower back. His pre and post operative visits are quick and straight to the facts and I don't have to read between the lines.

I was sent to Dr. Ebisu from my regular doctor for an emergency appendectomy which he did not diagnose. When he was consulting me before the surgery, he spoke as if he had personally made the diagnosis and I discovered that he had taken credit for it when I took a look at my medical charts later. His bedside manner is horribly detached and emotionless; "plastic" is a good word to describe it. He shows no empathy and does not make any sort of effort to make me feel at ease even though I'd never had a surgery before and I was scared witless. His only comforting words were, and I'm not kidding, "I perform them so often it's like tying shoes." Yeah, I felt fantastic after that.Upon my follow-up visit, he spent a whopping 90 seconds with me. He told me to lift up my shirt, said my wounds were healing fine, and attempted to walk out. As he was leaving I asked his opinion on my uncomfortable, distended belly post-procedure and the fact that I still had pain and a small amount of pus… coming from the surgical site. Without turning around he said I'd be back to normal within a week and continued out the door. I'm certain that he must have been busy, but taking a five-second glance at a surgical wound doesn't seem thorough. He didn't tcheck for pain or tenderness in my abdomen or back, either. Not to say he's a bad surgeon, he did a good job otherwise I wouldn't be here writing this review. He is efficient at the very least, just...he has the social graces of slime mold.

Do not ever bring spouse worst bedside manner ever
