Great personality, an old school no frills doc who takes time to converse with his patients and is up front about everything. His office is in a charming old office building, and the rooms were clean

Dr seems more interested in telling jokes and boring the patient w/ his family stories than the needs of the patient. Very confident and no doubt knowledgable - just not present. Also, questional billing methods. If the diagnosis on the billing statement doesn't match the service you get in the office and his staff threatens to turn you over to collections anyway - RUN!!

Dr. O'Brien is a very experienced doctor, and I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a dermatologist. He has detected two melanomas on my skin while they were still in situ. I am a young father of two girls with a son on the way, and Dr. O'Brien was extremely proactive and understanding of my concerns. He was also very thorough in my exams and in my treatment.

This was my first time seeing Dr. O'Brien. He is nice and jokes around a lot, which can come off as unprofessional to some. I have read the other reviews on here, and maybe persons of color have a less favorable experience with him than I did (I'm white, female, about 30 years old). He seemed a bit condescending, but no more so than most older male doctors I have seen. When I was there his clientele seemed to be mostly elderly white men and women. I must say the office staff was very friendly, and they were able to get me in for an appointment faster than other places I tried.

my first time going there on 9/17/09 would be my last..the male receptionist treated me like a 2cnd class citizen with the insurance that i presented to him (medicare)he purposely embarrassed me when i told him (medicaid)was my secondary insurance...to make things worse once seen by DR.OBRIEN..he only spent no less than 5 minutes with me and made alot of joking remarks which were unprofessional..didnt seem at all interested in knowing me as a new patient and what my main concerns were..and before he left..he patted me on the head and said ''atta girl'' like im some animal...mind you that i am african american.I will never go back to his office again, the only person who made me feel comfortable was his nurse, she listen to me and explained to me what i was taking.

 |  Very Rude Doctor  |  show details
by DonnaLu on Jul 2nd, 2009 on kudzu.com

I agree. Dr. O'Brien was very rude to me when I went to him several years ago. I also agree that he has no respect for his patients. I left him and went to another practice that was more up to date on new medications and more progressive than Dr. O'Brien -- and they were nicer to me.

 |  Not a Great Listener or Communicator  |  show details
by Midtown on Jan 15th, 2009 on kudzu.com

Dr. O'Brien is very old school in his style and communication methods. He does not pay very good attention to your questions and he is typically extremely rushed in his manner. I have been frustrated a number of times because I don't feel like I can talk to him. He is about 68 years old, so he is not going to change any time soon. If you need or want to actually talk out treatment options with a doctor, he is not for you. If you have a simple, one-off problem and you live close to his office, then maybe try him out.

The staff that work in the doctor's office are very nice and helpful, but the doctor has no respect for his patients.
