Dr. John Lister, MD

Dr. Lister is a caring genius. I went to him as a second opinion after I was misdiagnosed and treated with chemo at another hospital. After a few years of follow up appointments, I developed diffuse large b-cell lymphoma. I had a tumor in my large intestine and a compression fracture in my back - all from the lymphoma. Within days, he admitted me to West Penn Hospital began aggressive chemotherapy and had a surgeon perform kyphoplasty. After a month - I developed t-cell lymphoma in addition to b-cell lymphoma. Dr. Lister immediately adjusted the chemo and eradicated the tcell lymphoma. Six months later - I had the tumor and 13 inches of my intestine removed. I was then put on the bone marrow/stem cell transplant list. In three months I had a donor and he performed my transplant. A stem cell transplant is not for the faint of heart and you become unimaginably sick, but Dr. Lister eliminated the scare. His caring demeanor and his profound expertise cured me. His sense of humor and jovial… mannerisms was and will always be welcomed. He is a medical genius and a beacon of hope for all cancer patients.

Very disappointing. I went to him because my doctor thought he was good. His staff is not very on-the-ball, and he doesn't care how much they've messed up. He never followed up. I finally decided that this esteemed doctor was not worth the exhaustion and hassle. He didn't seem especially eager to render help. I guess if you die waiting for him to do something to help you, that is ok.

I have been seeing Dr. Lister forever and he is amazing. The time you wait in the waiting room is on the long side sometimes. BUT... When you need more time he gives it to you. If you are in the hospital and need him he goes to you. So, to me, it is worth waiting because I have been the one who needed the extra
