Dr. John Richard Mantione, MD

Dr. Mantione is an outstanding doctor who helped my husband and I I during a very difficult time where we found out our baby did not have a heartbeat. His level of professionalism and empathy is unmatched which helped us get through a very sad time. I am forever grateful to Dr. Mantione for his role in explaining, understanding and helping us cope.

After my previous gynecologist, whom I adored, moved out of state, several women recommended Dr Mantione. And now I understand why, he is fabulous! He is such a kind soul with a warm genuine persona. I have endometriosis, which often makes gynecologist appointments less than pleasant. But Dr Mantione is always so gentle and talks me through his exam which makes it much more tolerable. Coming from a fellow healthcare provider (physician assistant), I highly recommend him!

I am 25 years old and have seen 3 different OBs for what I now know to be severe endometriosis. Days before my 24th birthday I was told I'd never have children, by my husband, because the OB I was seeing at the time couldn't wait til I woke up from surgery to tell me himself. I started seeing Dr. Mantione shortly after that and I will never go anywhere else. He was the first physician to acknolwedge the pain I was in (physically and emotionallly) and when I developed hydrosalpinx during an IVF fertility treatment, he fit me in for surgery the same week. I am now 36 weeks pregnant with our IVF miracle and was recently in a serious car accident that required a day hospital stay. Dr. Mantioned saw me twice in the hospital, I saw his associates 2 other times, and at my follow up was sure to ask me how I was feeling about travelling emotionally (we are to attend a wedding more than an hour away). I am constantly impressed by his compassion and care for his patient's and my husband and I… look forward to delivering our baby in a few weeks. I highly recommend Dr. Mantione and Woodward and associates to all!

He is competent with doing an exam and I don't have complaints that way, but his interaction with me as a woman was quite unfortunate. After sharing my infertility history experiences which are now 9 & 6 years ago he discredited tests that were taken and therapies and treatments. He interrupted me and was very contrary with my personal history. I felt disrespected. I did not let it go and spoke up. He apologized but I would not return to him again nor would I recommend him.

Dr. Mantione is a very knowledgeable and precise doctor. I will say that the office staff was kind of rude. The receptionists were fine but the one woman who is a medical assistant and takes your vitals is plain rude and I had to bite my tongue numerous times. I'm thankful for Dr. Mantione because upon looking at me and hearing my symptoms he diagnosed my condition even before the bloodwork came back. That shows to me that he knows what he is doing and thinks thoughtfully about his patients.

I have been a patient of Dr Mantione for about 9 years he has always spent all the time with me that I needed he always answers all my questions and never makes me feel rushed. I recently had surgery and he made me feel so comforted during the initial time in the OR he held my hand and talked to me until I was asleep. He personally called me with the results of my pathology and again answered all my questions without making me feel rushed. I would recomend Dr Mantione to all of my friends.

Had to have Hysterectomy for endometrial hyperplasia and excessive bleeding with periods. I am only 34 yrs old, and ha(e not had children. Dr Mantione made sure that I really wanted to do the Hysterectomy or try to wait and try to treat medically. I chose to have the hysterectomy as i was completely miserable each month and excessive bleeding. The plan was to do vaginal Hysterectomy, but I had made it clear to him that I just wanted everything out and he was to do whatever was necessary to accomplish that. I was very swept the day of surgery which caught me completely by surprise. Dr Mantione was very sympathetic. He stayed with Mr til I was asleep in the OR. I ended up with an open abdominal Hysterectomy which was a blessing in disguise. Found out that I had endometriosis which was not known before surgery. I needed to stay in hospital 2 days, but felt fairly well on discharge. I am 2 weeks from surgery and feeling quite well. The thing I appreciated most about Dr Mantione was his… listening ear and compassion. I would tecommend him for any gynecological needs.

I had a very stressful visit him with cancet being a possibility. He spent as much time as I needed to have all my questions answered. I am a pediatric ICU nurse with minimal knowledge in gynecological issues. He was very patient in answering questions which were many! He didn't make me feel rushed at all. Then, when I had D&C and biopsy, he stayed in oR and held my hand till i fell asleep. I highly recommend Dr. Mantione for your Ob/Gyn needs.

Dr. Mantione saw my wife on short notice on a Friday afternoon at 4pm with no appointment. We needed an emergency diagnosis, and he not only diagnosed our situation with accuracy and performed the surgery the next week professionally and excellently. We would refer Dr. Mantione to anyone. His Christian ethics are obvious!

Dr. Mantione made a very stressful situation (cervical biopsy) both informative and relaxed. He showed me everything he was doing, spoke to me like an equal, and got back to me promptly with the results. I have been happy to refer him to friends.
