I dislike that Dr. Mues changed his medical records for his own gain after being confronted with a lawsuit. I like that this was found out because he had sent the unchanged records to other physicians after he purported to have changed them. I dislike that he did not offer my identical twin sister a biopsy when he misdiagnosed follicular thyroid cancer as a multinodular goiter and the follicular thyroid cancer, which is around 95% curable morphed into anaplastic thyroid cancer, which is 100% incurable. I dislike that he spent a follow-up appt. talking about the cost of his own malpractice insurance (especially since it cost substantially less than my sister's insurance) instead of giving her the results of the ultrasound. When she left the exam room, he was too busy that day to see her for 5 more minutes to explain the ultrasound results. Later he would have his office staff call to tell her that it was "a multi-nodular goiter--no biopsy necessary" when in fact it was 6 cm. of tumor! The result was her death at far too young an age. She died at the end of Jan., 2007. No amount of money could ever compensate for her death, but, in the end, Dr. John Mues was held accountable.
