Dr. John E Phay, MD

Dr. Phay spent a good deal of time explaining options and procedures to me. I am much more at ease now regarding my thyroid issues and potential surgery. He has very good bedside manners.

Dr John Phay is a very warm, compassionate physician . He is very approachable and willing to answer any questions. He encourages questions and on each visit he asks how you are doing. He is also very attentive and never seems to be in a hurry/rushing. He is s great surgeon and a man of his word. Very accessible for questions after one leaves his office by way of My Chsrt.

I am driving to Columbus from Marietta to see Dr. Phay and I will have my ultrasound and papers for him to look at. I saw Dr.Phay last year and now we will see if there is a change in my thyroid. He spent a lot of time with me and I know I found the right Dr. He is very nice and doesn't rush you through your appointment.

I had a great experience with my thyroid removal surgery with Dr. Phay. Before my surgery, I was very scared about what the scar would look like and spent a lot of time researching scars online and honestly, freaking myself out. Dr. Phay did an amazing job and made my incision much smaller than what I was expecting. I am currently a little over 2 months post op and it has been such an easier experience than I was expecting. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Phay when performing this procedure and I hope this review helps calm someone's nerves before their surgery.

I was under the care of Dr. Phay at Vanderbilt for over 3 years, for stage 4 metatastic thyroid cancer. From the first appointment through all of the subsequent surgeries and treatments, Dr. Phay and his staff were superb in their willingness to help me understand and deal with the disease. Dr. Phay's knowledge of MENIIA is far superior to every other doctor that I've seen through the years, with the exception of the doctor he trained under for this type of cancer, who happened to be the first doctor I ever saw for the cancer. I cannot accurately express what I fine doctor I believe him to be and I'm saddened that he is no longer nearby for me to continue as his patient.

Being diagnosed with thyroid cancer can be overwhelming. Dr. Phay thoroughly explained the surgery and what the test results meant. He even called me at home before my surgery to inquire if I had any other questions. One typically does not get this kind of service from doctors. I would highly recommend Dr. Phay as your oncology surgeon.

Dr Phay was my doctor for approximately 7 years. I can say without exception, he has been the best doctor I have ever had since being treated for a rare genetic thyroid cancer. What struck me about him the most was his patient,empathic manner. He was knowledgeable about my disease process and treated it aggressively. I nearly cried when he left his Nashville office.

I contracted a deadly infection during my thyroid surgery and almost died! This after Dr. Phay basiclly tells me that infection doesn't happen with thyroid surgery. I spent 26 days in Vandy fighting for my life and my daughters spent 26 days without their Mother. DO NOT GO TO DR PHAY!!
