Dr. Abdul Kareem Jaffer, MD

I transferred to this primary care physician recently and only needed two visits with him to realize I had made a huge mistake. First he told me that I didn’t need to see a cardiologist even though the cardiologist wanted me to undergo an echo and wear a Holter monitor after he read my recent EKG from my previous doctor. My previous doctor said the EKG looked like I had undergone a heart attack. No reason given from Dr. Jaffer as to why he wouldn’t comply with my cardiologist’s wishes. I guess he felt he knew more about cardiology than the cardiologist although this field is not listed as one of his specialties. Then he said he would not give me a referral to a neuro-ophthalmologist even though my eye surgeon wanted me to see this kind of specialist because of vertical diplopia that recently occurred with my eyes. Dr. Jaffer again gave no reason for his refusal to accommodate my eye surgeon’s request. I was diagnosed recently with chronic kidney disease, stage 3, and asked Dr.… Jaffer if I could see a nephrologist since this is a serious disease and it’s at an advanced stage with me. Again, he refused without giving an explanation. I really got the impression he was trying to show me that he was in charge and would make his own decisions about my care because he knew so much more than my other doctors and specialists, including what previous imaging studies and tests revealed about my health. To top it off, his receptionist made a face to a coworker that was directed toward me when I walked by. I had looked back quickly and caught her doing so. She knew I had seen it and thereafter was overly nice to me. I think she was afraid I would tell Dr. Jaffer (which I didn’t). I had done nothing to warrant her ugliness toward me—it was my first visit. What is up with this office? I have quickly transferred my care to another doctor. This one is a female and I’m pretty sure she’s not going to try to bully me in order to show me who’s in charge. Dr. Jaffer seems to be on a real power trip. Maybe he does better with his male patients, but from the other reviews, it doesn't sound like it.

Office staff argued with us if we had had a test and that they did not take the CD yet I have no doubt at all that they did as does my wife. Rude and UN-professional. Were supposed to or a CT scan of brain. Never have. 2 times we have been there with the same results from his office staff. We will not return again. Still do not know what is causing my problem.

My experience with this Dr. was life changing. He not only saved me from paralysis but saved my life . 10 minutes and he saw what other Dr.s didn't ,within hours I was in spinal surgery and since I have had 6 altogether . Where others failed me , he saved me. Thank-you to not only Doc but to his exceptional staff. God bless you all.

When ever I had to go to the Dr appointments were made quickly. When meds were needed to be renewed appointments were the next day. He is very responsive to my needs and up to date of current practices. I have shown up very early for an appointment and still taken in within 5 min.

He does not listen to what you say. Reluctant to give referrals. Told me if I'm not happy to seek another doctor. He is terrible I hope he loses his licenses.

1. communication barrier.( English ) 2. Purpose of visit (company referral non contractual medical review) Performing a re-examination on my current status. Neurological disability previously approved by both USC NEUROLOGICAL DEPT. & KAISER NEUROLOGICAL DEPT He read over reports from two very prominent hospitals that both have research at their facilities for Neurological conditions & disagreed with both facilities. In short , MRI,s do not lie & foreign items in the brain do not reveal a "NORMAL MRI" he purposely left off the entire statement documented disabling conditions supporting MRI & does NOT AGREE I am unable to perform my normal job. How can Dr Jaffer determine anything about work percormance when he has not identified or asked me anything about my job description only my job title( responsibilities & goals differ at many companies); neither if I work in the office,computer,lab, field,territory Coverage, field time, B2B or employee reporting… ,deadlines,training etc., etc. Did not do a through evaluation or ask enough questions & when I tried to volunteer information about my daily lifestyle changes,accommodations or restrictions he stopped me and said thT he had enough information but I still wanted him to know the before and after. 3. Use a current Neurological Specialist (1965 grad of bagdad :( ) restrictions

The doctor is very nice

After being treated by the doctor for a number of years, I had to seek a new neurologist.He misdiagnosed me. He refused to do other testing - because in his opinion the tests were not needed. After seeing my Primary Care and getting those needed tests through her, I found out I have MS.Dr. Jaffer thought the nerve pain I was experiencing along with the other issues did not warrant further testing.I want to strongly urge you away from this doctor. If you do not mind being given nothing but pills, he is your man. But if you want education and answers, you will not get it.

One of the most pleasent experiences I can remember in the past 15 years. Time will tell on the diagnosis, but I have great confidence we are on the right track. My prior neurolgist was superficial and lacking any impathy or desire to allow me to understand my condition.
