Dr. Kristophe Jemel Karami, DO

I am beyond grateful to Dr. Karami for the extraordinary care and skill he demonstrated during my spinal tumor surgery. From our very first consultation, Dr. Karami stood out as not only a brilliant surgeon but also a deeply compassionate professional who truly listened and made me feel heard and understood. Facing surgery on my spine was very scary, but Dr. Karami took the time to walk me through every step, explain the risks and outcomes, and answer all my questions with patience and clarity. His calm confidence was very reassuring, and his surgical expertise gave me hope. The result speaks for itself — the procedure was a complete success, and my recovery is going much better than I expected. I credit Dr. Karami's precision, dedication, and personalized approach for that . His team was equally outstanding, ensuring I felt cared for every step of the way. If you're looking for a surgeon who combines top-tier medical skill with genuine heart, Dr. Karami is the one. He gave me my hope… for a normal life back, and I will forever be thankful.

I don't do this lightly, but patients need to be warned. This surgeon blatantly lied to me about my brain surgery. When I confronted him he doubled down and denied it. When I presented the indisputable proof he had an epic meltdown that resulted in him SCREAMING at me for over 30 minutes. He was backed into a corner, knew he'd been exposed, and his response was to yell at a patient who just had brain surgery. He inappropriately called me at home after he learned about my official complaints. I never should have answered, but once he began his tirade I allowed him to keep going, on speaker with a witness. I've filed an official complaint with the Medical Board, but warning others via online reviews is the only way I know to possibly help other patients avoid this doctor. I truly hope he gets help if it's a mental health issue. I hate that reviews are abused by disgruntled patients, but this is more serious than "he was rude" or "terrible bedside manner." Far. More. Serious.

Trips over his own ego.

My experience with Dr. Karami occurred during his tenure at Johns Hopkins. His professional skills and abilities, mannerism, and empathetic nature were traits that I found remarkable in this day and age where there is typically an aloofness between doctors of his caliber and their patients. In addition to his medical astuteness, he possesses impeccable bedside manners, is very through and patient--takes the time to answer questions/concerns and give detailed explanations of what's involved and the medical approach he will undertake. He performed two very intricate cancer surgeries on my husband in 2012 and I appreciated how he took the time to listen to my husband's fears, concerns, as well as, what I would classify as his frivolous gaffs. My husband had immense faith in Dr. Karami's medical abilities (that is second to God), and so did I. To sum up his personality: caring, down-to-earth and affable. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK DOC AND CONTINUE TO BE TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE!! … Thank you for all you have done and your support and empathy during our ordeal.
