Dr. Kyudong P Uhm, MD

My mother was a patient of Dr. Uhm. She was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer. She had her choice between Dr. Uhm and Columbia. She chose Dr. Uhm because he seemed caring and attentive in the beginning. He also indicated that it was good that we went for a second opinion, because if his recommended treatment was not working, he would call the 2nd opinion doctor and devise another strategy to see if they could collectively come up with a new treatment plan. So ultimately, his treatment wasn't working and he immediately went to a hospice care recommendation. I asked him if he reached out to the 2nd opinion doctor, to which he replied no. I said, didn't you say in the beginning that if treatments weren't working, you would call him immediately to confer? He says, "you can call him and I will call him as well". Here is my issue with that, what would i say to the doctor? I am not a physician, so what good would me calling him do? 2. Why do i have to remind you to do… something, you said would be the first thing you do should treatments prove to be ineffective? When i brought this up, he seemed to be on the defensive. He is also hard to get on the phone. I found myself having to call him for results and followups. He is extremely lackadaisical in his approach and his bedside manner is horrible. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Uhm to anyone. And I am glad I won't ever have to deal with him or the hospital he is associated with.

Dr, Uhm has an excellent bedside manner. He is very kind and soft spoken. I wish all doctors were like him. Highly recommend.

Although, being of Korean Extraction, he is not what we Americans are used to, socially, he is a very brilliant and humble man. If you have a real concern, he speaks to you from his office or from home, within minutes. The best Doctor I have ever known, and I am 70 years old. There should be a 6th Star for him, although he isn't looking for glory.

I definitely would recommend Dr. Uhm to anyone. I feel that he gives me a better level of care than I would receive from any of those famous NYC cancer hospitals.

Dr.Uhm is an amazing doctor. Very patient, friendly.....and he goes out of his way for his patients ..myself being one of them. Sometimes as many doctors offices the doctor and office get busy. But I would wait hours just to see Dr.Uhm. Also I dont know what in the world is going on with the other person who wrote another review was seeing in the office.....dirty...NOO NOT AT ALL. And im a germ freak. Plus amazing staff...just the older white lady sometimes is moody....but in every office theres always one. :)

Office setting-dirty. Staff nice.Doctor in a hurry, seemed annoyed when I asked him to repeat himself because of his accent, so I was afraid to ask questions. Did not feel comfortable at all. Would not recommend!!
