Dr. Laura Jacks, MD

She was so awesome at talking with us and explaining what was going on with our son. Very thorough.

My daughter went to Dr Jacks after both feet were crushed. She was only 5. Dr. Jacks bedside manner put her at ease and she did a fantastic job through the three surgeries my daughter had. She is 9 now and on one foot, there are no scars, and on the other foot, it is just slightly visible. This is a miracle if you could have seen them at first! Amazing!

my daughter has seen Dr. Jacks for 11years now. I don't know what we would do without her. We moved out of state 5 years ago and the Orthapedic doctors did not even compare to her. My daughter has kyphosis, scoliosis, and osteopenia. We drive 5 hours just to see her. We are blessed to have her taking care of my daughter. She is excellent!

I took my 2 year old to see Dr. Jacks after he broke his arm. Almost everything that she said contradicted the ER doctor who set the arm (who was an ortho. surgeon) and then she started even contradicting herself. She said his arm would have healed perfectly without even being set (the ER said that he couldn't move it in one direction when they set it) and then she said how awful the break was and how unbelievable it was that he could have broken it this badly (when the ER dr. said he sees this in this age all the time and it was a result of him trying to catch himself when he fell). But all of that is incomparable to what she did next. At the end of the visit, she was "messing" with my son-nudging him, bumping him in the arm, things like that. And then, she balled up her fist, put it right in front of his face, and then pushed it into his forehead with enough force that he moved backwards! She did NOT hit him, it was more of a gentle push- but it was NOT appropriate! He… immediately started to cry and her only response was, "Oh, you're fine, I was only playing!" I would NEVER let this woman alone with my child and I will try my very hardest never to take him to see her at all again!

MY FIRST OF IMPRESSION OF DR. JACKS WAS THAT SHE WAS KNOWLEDGE, BUT IN NO WAY PERSONABLE AND SHE DID NOT APPEAR TO WANT TO ENGAGE IN ALOT OF CONVERSATION. SHE ASK TO HOLD MY HUSBAND'S HAND TO DEMONSTRATE WHAT HAD HAPPEN TO MY DAUGHTER WHICH WAS QUITE ODD. SHE DID ANSWER OUR CONCERNS AND OUR DAUGHTER HAD 4 BROKEN BONES AND WAS PUT IN A CAST. WE NEVER SAW HER THE NEXT 2 APPOINTMENTS THEN OUR LAST APPEARED RUSH, AND I THINK WERE I JUST WANTED TO TALK WITH DR JACKS MORE REGARDING MY DAUGHTER THAT SHE MIGHT HAVE THOUGHT I QUESTIONING HER AS A DOCTOR, I DON'T QUITE HAVE THE ANSWER. THE DOCTOR THAT WAS WORKING WITH DR. JACKS WAS VERY KIND, KNOWLEDGABLE AND SPOKE GREATLY WITH US. HE SUGGESTED MORE TIME IN THE STEEL BOOT AND A FOLLOWUP; HOWEVER, DR JACKS CAME IN SAID THAT "I COULD THROW A BRICK ON HER FOOT AND SHE WOULD BE FINE", BUT SHE ALSO SAID "SHE WILL HAVE SWELLING", "THAT FOOT WILL NOT HEAL FOR ABOUT SIX MONTHS". MY HUSBAND AND I DID NOT UNDERSTAND THAT. WHEN I TOLD HER THAT I… WOULD LIKE TO ASK A QUESTION AFTER SHE JUST GOT THROUGH SAYING SHE WOULD SEE HER 1 MORE TIME, SHE SAID, "SPEAK". SHE THEN ADVISED THAT SHE WAS "FINE WITH BOOT UNTIL FRIDAY THEN REGULAR SHOE" AND "SHE DIDN'T NEED TO SEE HER ANYMORE SO GO AHEAD AND ASK THE QUESTION". SHE DID EXPLAIN WHERE MY DAUGHTER'S FOOT WOULD HURT ON MY HUSBAND'S FOOT SO WE WOULD KNOW WHAT TYPE OF SHOE TO GET FOR HER TO WEAR. THE OFFICE STAYS VERY BUSY. AMANDA IS GREAT. SHE IS DR. JACK'S ASSISTANT. THE XRAY STAFF ARE VERY PERSONABLE AND KIND. HER OFFICE HAS DISNEY MOVIES GOING ALL THE TIME AND THEIR ARE ALOT OF TOYS, CRAYONS, AND A PLAYHOUSE FOR THE CHILDREN FOR ENTERTAINMENT. A COOL CHAIR THAT THEY CAN SIT IN THAT LOOKS LIKE A HAND. I THINK I WAS MOST DISAPPOINTED THAT DR JACKS DIDN'T GIVE ME A CHANCE NOR MY HUSBAND TO FINISH ALL OUR QUESTIONS ESPECIALLY SINCE THE DOCTOR WORKING WITH HER WERE HAD SOME DIFFERENT OPINIONS AND HER TELLING ME TO "SPEAK" WHEN ASKING A QUESTIONS WAS NOT VERY NICE. I CAN SEE HER EXPERTISE AND SHE IS VERY WELL KNOWN FOR WORKING WITH CHILDREN SEEN AT KOSAIR'S SO MAYBE IT WAS JUST A BAD IMPRESSION.

Our experience with Dr. Jacks has been very positive so far. She is very informative, takes plenty of time to answer questions, and acts more like a human being than most surgeons do. I highly recommend her.
