Dr. Leela Vadrevu Raju, MD

She doesn't even deserve one star. She's NEGATIVE 100!!!!! I was having right sided diplopia and changes in my extraocular movements status post a cerebral angiogram. Per my neurosurgeons recommendations, I was scheduled to see this lady!!! Unfortunately, after waiting an hour I get back there and she starts telling me there's nothing wrong with my vision and "I'm perceiving having double vision" but "that there's no reason i should be having double vision." I disagree and she tells me its because my glasses lenses are "so big," I than tell her I've had those glasses, at the time, for going on two years, how would it be causing an acute issue now? Than she continues to tell me there's nothing wrong with my vision and I tell her there is and if she is unable to provide me with a solution or answer, please let me know who I can go to for help. Begrudgingly, she finally says "I don't even know why they schedule you to see me, I'm a retinal surgeon, I can't help you." I was so annoyed at… the fact that i wasted my whole morning and also incredibly disrespected by a woman who clearly has lost touch with patients. I followed up with another ophthalmologist and neuro-ophthalmologist and diagnosed with a superior oblique palsy. It's not the fact that she didn't know the diagnosis, it's the fact that she tried to gaslight me out of my symptoms instead of just admitting she didn't know or that she was too lazy to take the time to ask me additional questions or run additional test like like the other ophthalmologist!!!!! I'm a fourth year medical student, I know i have little medical experience compared to this lady, but I knew something was wrong and I am able to advocate for myself. Imagine others, elderly, disabled, less educated individuals, she's done this too. What became of them?

However, she's all business. If you're looking for a warm, fuzzy physician, she may not be a good fit. She's a great surgeon above all and that's what I was looking for. I also liked that she does humanitarian work.

I saw Dr. Raju following an eye infection. A few months after it healed, I went for a follow up visit. She wanted me to stay on prescription drops for 3 more months. When I asked if it was necessary to stay on them for that long, she became angry and defensive. She said “I think it’s better if you just see someone else if you don’t like what i’m Telling you.” She refused to answer my questions and kept insisting I see someone else.

Very arrogant and rude. No understanding for the patients perspective at all. She may have experience but she does not come up with any suggestions or solutions, rather just critic the patient and makes you feel stupid. Horrible experience. Would not recommend anyone to this doctor.
