Dr. Lilly Francine Ramirez-Boyd

This review will be lengthy. If you are not willing to read it, I suggest you pick another gynecologist rather than blindly walk into what I had to experience. At age 17, Dr. Boyd found a mysterious ball of tissue in my abdomen that was progressively growing. A few months after this discovery, Dr. Boyd completely stopped reaching out to me. This lasted for about a year. Granted, I could have made more efforts myself, but I had absolutely no idea what to do. It would have helped if Dr. Boyd followed up on me once. After that year, I contacted her office, which resulted in several unanswered calls. Finally, I successfully booked an appointment where Dr. Boyd referred me to a surgeon. Her office lady gave me the surgeon’s number, which ended up being incorrect. For a month I called this incorrect number, and I was forced to contact several different offices myself in order to finally find the right number. Once I got the right contact information, my surgeon told me he was incapable of… scheduling an appointment with me until Dr. Boyd sent over my documents. For 2 ½ months, I repeatedly called and reminded Dr. Boyd’s office to send over my documents, 95% of the time getting no response, and the other 5% getting told that they were on it, but they were not. The documents were finally sent over, and Dr. Boyd told me to inform my surgeon about her plan to attend my surgery. Maybe I’m wrong, but I found it inappropriate that I was given the responsibility to be a messenger. Despite this, I informed my surgeon of Dr. Boyd’s plan, and she proceeded to make zero effort to reach out to him. I contacted her office to remind her that my surgery was coming up so she still had a chance to attend. The office lady answered the phone and stated she would call me back at 3 pm. 20 minutes after 3 pm passed and she had not yet called back, so I reached out again. Once more, she stated she needed more time and would call me before closing. The office lady never called me back and Dr. Boyd never attended my surgery. After surgery, my surgeon revealed I had stage four endometriosis and suggested I get medication prescribed by Dr. Boyd to prevent it from growing back. I called her office for three days, multiple times, and got no answer. With little patience left, I contacted my surgeon to make him aware of Dr. Boyd’s inability to pick up my calls. His office staff then had to send Dr. Boyd a private message to remind her that I still existed, forcing her to answer my calls. When I first started birth control (what prevents my endometriosis from growing), I had to pick a pharmacy for it to be sent to. I called Dr. Boyd’s office, and she failed to respond to me for days. Finally, the office lady answered and assured me that my prescription order was sent and ready for pick up. I called the pharmacy myself to make sure this was true, but it was not. I was forced to call Dr. Boyd’s office several times again to make sure they sent it and wouldn’t lie again. Since I’ve moved, I needed my prescription to be sent to a new location, so I called Dr. Boyd’s office for 5 days straight (Monday-Friday during business hours). Some days I called as many as 9 times, but I received no response. Since Dr. Boyd and her staff failed to pick up my calls and change my prescription location, I have been unable to take medication for 6 days now and my endometriosis is at risk of growing back. I don’t feel cared for by Dr. Boyd and her staff, which is why I am leaving this review and finally getting a new gynecologist who will hopefully take my health seriously.

Dr. Boyd is kind, courteous, thorough and knowledgeable. She never rushes, explains everything. Answers all questions. Office wait can be slightly longer than most but worth it to not feel rushed. The office staff is polite and helpful.

Sigh... This Dr...she has so much potential. She's smart and well meaning. But her own arrogance has blinded her, at least in my opinion. I've been her patient for about six years. And I am going to her again for pregnancy care, for the fourth time. It wasn't what I wanted, because she can be very difficult, to put it nicely. She rushes me out of the exam room (after waiting 2+hours) about 90% of the time. I can barely get a single word out before she splits. And when she does stop and listen, she makes me feel stupid. Her tone is condescending and rude. As if because I don't have a medical degree, there is no way I could possibly know anything. I desperately wish I didn't have to go back to see her. If for no other reason than I don't appreciate how she makes me feel.

I have read most reviews about Dr. Boyd and I am not one to say you ladies who gave a poor reviews are wrong, because we all have different expectations, but I have been beyond pleased with her and her staff. She is currently my OB for my first pregnancy and to my blessing I am expecting twins. The babies are going through some complications and when it was discovered her and her staff called me within a day of my ultrasound to advise and I was seen by a specialist later that day. I know many complain about the wait, but honestly I have never been to a Dr's office where wait time is not an issue, sometimes we need to be a little flexible. I don't mind if she is called out due to an emergency delivery while Im waiting to be seen because if I were to be the one waiting for her to attend my delivery I would also expect her to drop everything and attend my delivery. I don't believe anyone should eliminate her because of a long wait time; she is very knowledgable, has lots of experience,… gives her patients the time and attention needed. One of the most personable doctors I have ever been to.

Dr.Boyd is one of the most caring and competent physicians I have ever had. She genuinely cares about her patients. When she had to tell me I had cancer, Dr. Boyd put her arms around me and explained all the options and what thought was best for me. Her staff was always available to help me and Dr. Boyd would personaly call me at home with test results. Her surgical skill removed all the cancerous material. She saved my life. A couple of times I had to wait because she had emergencies, but she gave my appointment her full attention did'n rush me. She saved my life abd I will always be grateful to her. She is exceptional!!!

Despite intentionally booking the first appt of the day, it still took nearly 2 hours to be seen by the MD and that was only b/c I was in the process of requesting my copay back when the MD overheard me and came over. the office staff was "waiting to confirm benefits" which takes about 1 min on the internet or 3-5 min on the phone. MD saw 5 pts before me despite me having the first appt time; apparently she often overbooks her slots.

Overall, she's not a bad doctor; she's nice but she's not someone I'd recommend. I get that she's busy. However, how she runs her office really needs an upgrade. It is so difficult to speak with someone over the phone; you are basically put on hold forever. Sometimes you are sent directly to voicemail, and even then there are numerous occasions when the inbox is too full. Being a first-time patient is a nightmare. The first time I came here I had to wait nearly 2 hours for a LEEP consult that only lasted about 10 minutes. I don't know, maybe it should've lasted longer; the nurse insisted that they needed to see my cervix even though I told her that I was on my period. I ended up bleeding on their chair because they took forever to wait on me. I was mortified and angry because 1.) I made a mess of things even though I had already voiced my concerns and 2.) it's not like they'd see anything anyway because I was bleeding! You don't do a Pap on your period; wouldn't the… nurse/doctor use common sense?I think the one thing that really bugged me was when we were discussing what should be done if I got pregnant in the future. Apparently, the surgery would give me an incompetent cervix because it cuts off a significant amount of tissue. I told her that I didn't really think of it as an issue because I never want children. She actually had the gall to tell me that I'm still too young and that I might change my mind in the future. I get a lot of flack from other people regarding my lack of desire to become a mom; honestly, the last thing I need to do is to hear that from my doctor. Not even my last gyno was like that! Ugh.Thankfully, I've never had to really deal with her again after my surgery. Like I said, she's nice, but the overall experience was just stressful and not worth it.
