Would refer any family member or friend to Dr. Melnik!

I was shocked when I read the negative comments on here. Yes, there is usually a lengthy wait at her office before you get to see her, but she never has acted rushed, and always takes her time to insure all of my questions are answered. I feel confident I am receiving the best possible care from Dr Melnik abd her staff, and she has always been compassionate and willing to provide me with all the options available. She is not the first physician I have seen for my condition, but she will be the one I have chosen to continue my care through my scarey, unknown journey, and I feel confident I have chosen the best!

Impersonal, cold, uncaring doctor

She's always late. Keeps you waiting and waiting and waiting (even late for surgeries). Then relies on her staff to do the talking. Spends minimum time possible withthe patient and it seems the time she does spend with a patient is painful to her. Routinely interrupts patient visits by answering her blackberry and walking in and out with it. Always in a hurry. Little time for patient questions which she answers cryptically and with an attitude. Will just not volunteer to explain anything or give information herself that you could really use and benefit from. You have to extract everything from her. She assumes you know everything about a disease like breast cancer and should. Will not offer any extra info to you. You have to work to get info. from her about your situation and options. Good luck. Then, if you go prepared with your questions, she will complain in her doctor's notes about how you took so much of her and her staff's time in asking your questions. She writes over and over in her notes about how much time she gave you, when in fact she did not. Very impersonal and cold with a really uncaring bedside manner. Cannot empathise at all with the suffering and pain of the patient. Is almost flip about it. Has an attitude of real superiority. It's her way or the highway. Does not give due regard to what the patient wants, or is concerned about. Instead, gives priority to the interests of medical entities who pitch trials and drugs. She is more concerned with their interests than those of the patient. Pushes referrals with her clique of doctors, plastic surgeons, etc. Big on pushing medications, medical devices onto patients regardless of their wishes. Forget about her feeling even a moment's compassionate empathy with you. Be prepared for her to leave you feeling cold to the bone. She is reputed to be a pretty good surgeon. She seems fully aware of her reputation and quietly arrogant. She's a real diva! She maybe a good surgeon, but she's no doctor in the sense of acknowledging, caring for, and respecting the whole patient, the patient as a human being. A surgical technocrat with a giant ego.
