Dr. McKinstry is from a rural area outside of Philadelphia where her father practiced general medicine. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Swarthmore College and continued on at Yale University Medical School. Upon graduating from Yale, she studied in Ophthalmology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Following New York, she moved to California to also study at the Jules Stein Eye Institute of the UCLA School of Medicine in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. McKinstry practices at the Laguna Hills office and is also Chief of Ophthalmology at Mission Community Hospital and an assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at UCLA.

Dr McKinstry performed surgery on my eye for which I am very grateful. The procedure went very well and was highly successful. I am very impressed with her surgical ability and expertise. The after care was excellent and her staff was very professional and knowledgeable. If I need additional surgery I will certainly return. I highly recommend Dr McKinstrys professional and compassionate care. - Dennis Anderson

I had eyelid surgery with Dr McKinstry for my droopy lids. My vision was impaired, and I was having trouble driving. Dr McKinstry did a ptosis repair, and I am now able to see! She and her staff, are the best!! They care about the patients needs, and explain everything in great detail.

Dr. McKinstry has been treating my dry eye symptoms, which I have been dealing with for years. I am happy to say, she has dry eye down to a science! For the first time, my eyes feel the best they ever have! She is so caring, along with her staff! great office!!!

After an eye injury, I realized the need for a good eye doctor. Not wanting to chance my vision with just anyone, I researched a lot of board certified ophthalmic plastic surgeons and I kept coming back to Dr McKinstry as one of the best in Southern Orange County. Thinking back, I was doubtful that two large red veins in my eye could be removed of cleared. Dr McKinstry was confident on fixing that issue, as well as, a small growth on my eyelid. I remember not being comfortable looking people in the eyes because of these issues and am very grateful to have perfect eyes again. Today (over 2 years later), I felt the need to say thank you to Dr. McKinstry, and her whole staff for being so efficient and professional!I should have done it a lot sooner, but it's funny what we take for granted, sometimes. I finally followed through with writing this, when having to schedule a regular eye exam and remembering how I have not had any eye problems since seeing Dr. McKinstry. Highly recommended!!… Many thanks!

I had a great experience with Dr McKinstry. I had severe dry eye, and she has treated me with great success. I am very thankful for her complete follow through, and her kindness. Another note, her staff is the best!
