Dr. Mary Cecelia Portis, MD

I only had one visit with Dr. Portis but found her to be thorough in her evaluation of my symptoms. She sent me for an endoscopy which confirmed what she thought. Her bedside manner is not the best, but she's not rude--she's very straightforward and "business like" which may be be off putting to some--I thought perhaps she was shy??? I did have an allergic reaction to the medication she prescribed for me but the support staff was slow to respond to me when and I called and told them what was happening. I had to go to a urgent care center to get help. However, she did prescribe an alternate medication for me which helped.

I made the appointment for my husband who wasn't really pleased about seeing a woman dr. However, it turned out that he liked and respected Dr. Portis and will continue seeing her.

I found Dr. Portis to friendly, knowledgeable and easy to talk about my concerns to. The day of my procedure things went just fine.....she creates a very relaxing environment to help the patient deal with the anxiety of already being there.

Dr. Portis did diagnosis my condition which I am grateful for however she absolutely has no bed side manner at all. I went in for a procedure in which I had to be put to sleep. Once it was over she came in, showed me the pictures, said keep taking your medicine and walked out. She didn't bother to discuss the condition and I honestly think that she didn't even look at me. My office visit was pretty much the same. She definitely don't beat around the bush which is appreciated but she comes across as very inconsiderate, non-caring and possibly rude.

Dr. Portis was very compassionate, attentive and thorough. I will return to her when I need this type of medical attention again.

My experience with this physician was horrible she was very rude, no bed side manners whatsoever, next time I am going to someone else in the office b/c the office itself is good the doc I seen never again I will leave it at that

I am a UC sufferer. Mary does not talk to me or answer any questions about my UC. During my appointments I always tell her what's wrong and sometimes ask questions, but her answers are non-committal and she doesn't volunteer any information. She comes off as really non-caring.
