Dr. Matthew E. Nielsen

After my diagnosis of a "pretty rare" form of kidney cancer I went into the UNC Urology Center/Cancer Center with a lot of anxiety. After my first talk with Dr. Nielsen I felt better and more confident about the future. He was with me all the way, often calling me personally to discuss my case. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Nielson and his staff. He is an excellent surgeon and a good man who understands the stress and fears that are a part of cancer.

When we discovered our 87 year old Dad had bladder cancer we turned to UNC Chapel Hill. It was by the grace of God that we found Dr. Matthew Nielsen who preformed a cystectomy on Dad and saved his life! Our family was concerned about Dad's age and complications. Dr. Nielsen is a brilliant and gifted surgeon with tremendous compassion for not only Dad but with our family. All questions and concerns were answered with upmost honesty, clarity, and confidence. There is not a rating scale high enough for this fine physician! He is Dad's and our Hero!
