My first visit I was scared, I knew that he was going to suggest surgery which I wasn't thrilled about. The pain was so bad. I did not like the courteousness of the receptionist, they were short and sad. The nurse for the Dr was terrific and listened to everything I said. When the Dr came in he sat down and looked as if he was ready for me to spill my thoughts about what was needed. He explained I needed surgery, explained the process, showed me the prothesesis and we scheduled. Surgery: I was in the hospital for 2 days, the Dr visited me every day, stayed as long as I needed and had the best bedside manner for being a surgeon. My followup was the same. He spent as much time and answered all my questions. Therapy went well and I am so pleased with the results. As I have been told by all: should have done it sooner. No pain what so ever. I need the other hip done and now can't wait to get in there and have Dr Barrett do the other. What a special caring person. Thanks!!!!!
On my first visit, Dr. Barrett was very short (borderline rude) to me. He appeared rushed and aggravated. On the second appt. that I made with the office...I was called less than two hours prior to my appt for them to cancel, as Dr. Barrett had a personal appt. that HE had to go to. (How could you not know about this personal appt. the day before?) Anyway, I had already driven 45 miles from my home and was in Murfreesboro. When I requested if another doctor in the office could give me the cortisone shot, he refused to allow another doctor there to treat me. His staff simply said, I'd have to reschedule at a later date. I won't be back, I should have known after my first experience with him. Bad experience with this office/doctor.
Got mad when I told him me knee replacement wasn't right and told me to find another Doctor, so I did. New Doctor says knee is loose and PCL is very loose and doesn't stabilize knee. I can't go up or down steps without pain or stand long or walk far unless I where a brace now, and will need more surgery to fix. Family Doctor and rehab workers were shocked by how loose my knee is as was Dr. Barrett's own nurse.
