Dr. Melvin Seth Gale, MD

I wrote my review sept 15 th out of emotional distress and would like to apologize to Dr Gayle. He has a unique disposition, but don’t we all. I give this practice a 10. Staff is incredible

Dr. Gayle is a money hungry tyrant that uses intimidation as a method against already suffering insecure people that go to him w so much hope. Education and awards and length of experience don’t mean a thing if u can’t have or show compassion for a hurting person. But watch out for all the money making ways to charge people barely surviving. $8.00 a prescription if u call it in or use portals. Late fees even though never late. Even going back a year to find other charges to add onto an already painf visit. He’s getting insurance plus cash for things insurance doesn’t pay. He’s double dipping the vulnerable. He will make u feel less than u felt about yourself before u first saw him. If u can cross that cold, selfish barrier the staff is wonderful and u know they are compassionate and sincere to work for such a little person that builds his ego off making those he made an oath to help feel useless and worthless. The counselors and therapists are worth the hurdle if u can take him… internationally trying to intimidate u w a sad attempt at power

Wish I would have read the reviews first!!! I’ll be sure to file a formal complaint with Medicare and Medicaid regarding this practice.

Small issues like constantly having to remind the front desk that a co-pay is owed or that an appointment has been rescheduled are so consistent that larger issues become inevitable. I recently had to cancel my appointments due to the birth of my child and being quarantined due to my hospital stay during a global pandemic. A week later I began to receive repeated billing statements for a missed appointment, and despite leaving several voice messages and e-mails with no response from them, I finally got a traditionally-mailed and condescendingly worded letter today stating that their computer records did not show a cancellation and that if I insist on not paying their fraudulent fee, that they will drop me as a patient. My wife sat beside me while I canceled these appointments over the phone and shares my current frustration. Whomever I spoke to on the phone had simply failed to log the cancellations.

I enjoyed my interactions with the staff here, but this establishment suffers greatly from poor administrative practices. Even ignoring this failure and the failure to respond to inquiries for weeks, they are at the very least insisting that a national health emergency and the birth of one’s child would not excuse a cancellation. This experience has demonstrated their ability to allow mere administrative mismanagement to become a fully unethical and callous response. I am now suddenly forced to navigate the long process of seeking care elsewhere, without access to prescribed medication, while handling a newborn during a pandemic all because this office consistently fails to communicate effectively. I strongly recommend avoiding this practice until they are better suited to train their administrative staff. I also encourage this office to employ better language for their billing statements and communications. Preaching the importance of responsibility to me when it was your office that had failed its obligation in the first place is beyond obnoxious.

After a bad start with the first P.A., I saw Ashton McNutt P.A. for the first time today. She immediately made me feel at ease. She was professional but empathetic. I would suggest that if you do not feel comfortable with your physician or P.A. ask for another that will be more of a "fit". I am so pleased and made my next appointment with her. The office staff understood my concerns and were great about scheduling me with a different provider in the office.

This is the most responsive and professional practice I have found in Cincinnati this far. They have a multitude of providers, and are willing to accommodate your needs if you feel that your assigned provider does not work for you. My therapist is very good and so is my psychiatric provider. They even call in to check on me! With them I never have issues with the pharmacy or running out of my medications. I’ve recommended them to a lot of people :).

Dr, Gale is much more than a "psychiatrist. He is great at psychiatry but is also a wonderful comprehensive wellness manager.

I had to leave a previous provider abruptly due to insurance and desperately needed to make sure I didn't lose access to my meds, made an appointment with Dr. Gale before seeing the reviews and then was terrified I'd made a bad choice. On our first visit we discussed personal and family history and background and then past treatment. When we talked about my previous doctor who I'd been seeing for years and my experience with him/treatment he had me on despite being very stoic Dr. Gale seemed almost a little offended on my behalf. My previous psychiatrist had not only made no efforts to make any changes or alterations to my medications when they clearly were not working and when I tried to explain to him what I was feeling and how it was paralyzing me but also had agreed with me when I suggested maybe it was my own fault. Due to the nature of my disorder I naturally blamed myself and could not dig myself out of that feeling alone without either the help of a competent psychiatrist… and/or the proper medication. Within the first session with Dr. Gale I already felt more listened to than I had from all prior psychiatrists I had visited. He changed medication and was very frank, open, and informative about why he changed/added meds and dosages, what I should expect, my 'homework' (watching my mood etc.), and wanted us to meet regularly while in adjustment periods. He also requested blood tests when adjusting meds/dosages due to rare but potential hazardous side effects. When medications unfortunately did not work out he has helped look into other options that might work for me. I consistently feel much better because of this. Dr. Gale has continued to listen to my feedback while my life circumstances and our different attempts at finding the best medicine match have changed but also (very importantly) pushes back when I try to blame myself for what I feel/go through when they are out of my control. In short, I feel that Dr. Gale has done for me exactly what a psychiatrist is meant to do--apply their knowledge to help recognize a patient's needs and valuing and listening to a patient's input while also balancing that with how their diagnosis might be affecting aspects of that patient's feelings and thoughts. Dr. Gale has never undermined my thoughts/opinions but has (correctly, I feel) offered me questions that prompt me to think more about the situation and better articulate myself in a way that is more helpful and has brought about better results. I have always been seen on time, I have always been treated very kindly by the staff, and although Dr. Gale would likely not be called warm and fluffy it is obvious to me that he values my well-being and respects me as a patient. Despite the negative reviews, I am VERY happy with my experience.
