Dr. Mervyn Leon Lifschitz, MD

I was sent to Dr Lifschitz after being diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. He is so kind and compassionate. I truly felt that he cared about my well being. I am very Thankful and blessed to have him looking after my well being.

Dr. Lifschitz is a doctor of the old school. I can not say enough good things about him.

Dr. Lifschitz takes excellent care of me by paying extreme attention to detail. He checks my condition every three months and I feel I wouldn't want to be checked any less often. He has practiced many years and brings to his patients an extreme depth of knowledge within his specialty of endocrinology. He uses old school techniques such as personally drawing blood himself and hand written notes. If you want a doctor to be tapping away on their iPads then perhaps you should seek another doctor. I give my personal well being to sit in the hands of Dr. Lifschitz.

The ill will felt toward Dr. Mervyn Lifschitz and his staff did not grow from one unfortunate incidence which may have been excusable, but rather from numerous inexcusable incidences, taking place during the care of my sister which ultimately resulted in death. The doctor and his staff's disregard for my sister's condition, their unprofessionalism, lackadaisical attitude and lack of compassion have left our family devastated and certainly in need of cautioning others who are contemplating using this doctor's services. My sister's health was deteriorating and Dr. Lifschitz could offer no diagnosis, yet was often condescending to our family, and rather flippant and impatient at times, telling her daughter that her mother should just "toughen up. ". The medical staff's wait and see attitude and concern for the almighty dollar, in spite of adequate medical coverage, defined their mode of operation. The front office staff was just as insensitive, refusing to reschedule appointments,… displaying rude and unacceptable behavior inspite of the gravity of the situation. My sister slipped away within a month after being told by Dr. Lifschitz to "toughen up." During the course of her treatment, another medical team was eventually obtained, but it is reprehensible that any patient and family should have to undergo this type of treatment during any part of their medical care. If anyone values integrity, compassion, ongoing concern and responsibility from their treating source, it would be wise to look elsewhere.

Dr Lifschitz is old school medicine. Solid as a rock, good as gold. This practice is nothing fancy but he calls personally with test results. He knows his stuff and he cares.

Throughout my experience of dealing with Graves, I've come to dislike doctors more than any other profession. I came from another Endo who told me everything I had been feeling was my fault (e.g. tremor, weight gain, fatigue, depression, basically all the signs of Graves) and to deal with it because my levels were "normal". I've been going to Dr. Lifschitz for a little over a year now, he has always been upfront and honest with him. He actually listens to me and my symptoms. He adjusts my medicine based on my levels AND how I'm feeling. Anyone who has been dealing with any thyroid problems knows it's not the same "fix" for everyone. It has been a very long road, but I'm as close to "normal" feeling as I have been since this all started 5 years ago. Dr. Lifschitz has been a wonderful help to getting me feeling good again. The biggest down sides to seeing him are:His incredibly rude receptionist, most of the reviews revolve around this young lady. I believe that he keeps her around… because he has a big heart, but she is rude and is truly giving Dr. Lifschitz a bad name.The other is, he doesn't take credit cards. Which in itself isn't that big of a deal, but if you use flexible spending it's kind of a hassle to get reimbursed.

I cannot speak to the quality of care that Dr. Mervyn Lifschitz provides but I can tell you that, if it is anything like the professionalism that his staff showed to my wife and I after we missed an appointment, he clearly should have his license revoked. Our primary care provider recommended Dr. Lifschitz only because he was closer to us than the other physician she wanted to recommend. But when Dr. Lifschitz could not see my wife in a reasonable amount of time our Dr. recommended that we go the extra distance to see her initial recommendation. The appointment that was made with Dr. Lifschitz was forgotten about in the confusion and while it is true that they made a follow up call to remind, the call was made to my phone and not my wife's phone and I confused the appointments, thinking that is was not necessary to follow up. Shortly after missing the appointment we received and extremely rude message from a woman in his office. When I called to sort it all out I was met with an amount… of smugness and disrespect usually reserved only for those spiteful bill collectors with zero integrity. To be sure, it eventually came down to money and how they were going to send me a bill for $70 because, "your missed appointment results in our losing money." Well I agree you should get paid, but to allow your patients (or, otherwise would be patients) to receive that sort of treatment from your office? Shame on you Dr. Lifschitz; shame on you.
