Dr. Russo has been seeing our twins since they were babies, and he is a truly wonderful doctor. He's helped us through so many things, and he's a big reason they are growing and thriving like they are. Plus he's super nice, great with kids, respectful of my kids, and supportive of our family. We love him!
I found that it took Dr. Russo too long to figure out the issue. We left and found a new GI and have been much happier. I simply could not recommend.
I found that it was very hard to reach Dr. Russo. I would leave messages for his medical assistant and sometimes would get a return phone call. Other times I would not. Dr. Russo seems not as focused as he used to be. It is also frustrating to take so long to reach a solution after trying to fix the issue and your child is not feeling well in the process. Leaving practice to find another GI that can better handle my child's GI issues.
My son was a patient of Doctor Russo for many years and was very kind and gave us plenty of information on my son's Ulcerative Colitis. He is a top rate Doctor. Unfortunately Dr. Russo is in Pediatrics and my son is 23 now.
I am currently 18 years old and about to head to ACU for college. I understand many patients are too young to write a review but I would like to tell all parents considering dr. Russo for their children that he is an amazing doctor! He works really hard to keep all of his patients healthy and prepared for the future. Unlike allot of doctors out there, he is very compassionate and understands what is going on. He is also attentive and very soft spoken and gentle. Unfortunately for me, I had a battle against my body a year ago and I had to undergo two surgeries in less than six months apart. Dr. Russo taught me that I am not a victim of my own body and that weaknesses can be overcome! He put me on a great diet plan and knew right away how to treat my condition in order for me to go away to school and be successful. If your child is need of a gastroenterologist, please consider dr. Russo!
We had out first visit with Dr. Russo and he was super nice. He did a sing along with Frozen to make my 6 year old daughter feel more comfortable. My 2 year old son loved it, that is his favorite movie! We had to have some blood tests and he called me personally to let me know the results and to tell me that he was still waiting to hear the results back from one of the blood tests. I had to bring my two year old along to the appointment and Dr. Russo was super nice to him too. So far we are please with Dr. Russo. He was very friendly! We are still waiting to hear a final diagnosis, so I didn't put a rating.
Dr. Russo is kind, attentive and supportive. He genuinely cares for each patient he sees, as he has treated both my daughter and son. I am so thankful for the help he gave my son, especially, and for his overall concern for his well being. I will refer anyone having GI issues to Dr. Russo.
As a pediatric Speech Therapist focused mainly on pediatric feeding therapy, I work very closely with many GI doctors in the DFW area. However, I have never dealt with another GI doctor who is as attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable as Dr. Russo. As a matter of fact, any patient of mine having GI related difficulties gets a referral to Dr. Russo-not because of any pre-determined contract with his office, but because he has proven time and time again that he genuinely cares about my patients and their families. Dr. Russo spends substantial time with all of my patients' families to make sure to answer each question. I trust, when I refer a child to Dr. Russo, that he will listen, follow up, and give the same level of care to my children as he would give to his own. He has, on numerous occasions, found diagnoses which other GI physicians missed, leading to a positive recovery for my patients. I often have difficulty getting call-backs from physicians when I contact their office regarding a patient, but Dr. Russo almost always returns my calls the same day or the next business day. He genuinely listens to my opinions and concerns, and I never feel blown off. He understands the value of listening to parents, as well as other medical professionals when it comes to the diagnosis and treatment of his patients, and I will continue to refer children to his practice time and time again.
Dr. Russo is amazing. His knowledge and bedside manner are impeccable.
My son used to see Dr. Russo. Sadly after not figuring out the issue we consulted with another GI in Dallas. Our son ended up being hospitalized quickly and is on his way to having the issue fixed. I wish we had switched so much sooner so our son could have felt better. I went to Dr. Russo many times to help me and he kept doing the same thing over and over with no good results. Our son was suffering. Disappointing that we had to leave him to go to another dr. Dr. Russo doesn't have the drive and passion I used to feel he had. I don't know why or what happened but I find my son to be cared for much better with his new GI.
Dr Russo is a superb doctor. My child sees several doctors and he is, by far, my favorite. He is very attentive to everything you say and he is very detailed when explaining things. He does not rush to surgical options, although he is very thorough when he feels surgery is necessary. I would recommend him to anyone needing at GI. I can't imagine better.
Dr Russo actually saw my son almost 15 yrs ago when he was at Arkansas Children's Hospital! My son had multiple health issues. Dr Russo was always there to answer questions and never gave up! He always went out of his way to check on my son numerous times a day! He treated me and my family with the utmost respect and helped us through not 1 but close to 5 surgeries!! I wish he was still here at ACH. He is an EXCEPTIONAL doctor!!
Our son has run the gamut with doctors and specialists. We've seen dozens, and Dr. Russo is by far, the best specialist we've ever seen. He didn't just look at our son's GI issues- he looked at EVERYTHING. He has been the most determined person we have met seeking a diagnosis. He spends so much time with us you'd think we were the only patient he has. We have so much trust in him- he's wonderful. The only complaint I have is that sometimes I wish he was a regular pediatrician because we want to use him for every single thing that comes up with our special needs baby.
Dr. Russo has taken wonderful care of my little boy! He is very caring and never seems to be rushed. It an expectional doctor!
Doesnt seem to know what he is doing and never is prepared or look over lab results
We love Dr. Russo! Very personable, patient, and easy to talk to. He really cares about his patients.
Dr. Russo sees both of my kids. He has an excellent manner both with the parent and with the child. Our son had some pretty serious GI issues that took some time to diagnose. He hung in there with us and solved our son's complex GI issues. What I also liked about him was that he looked at our son as a whole instead of simply his GI issues. He believed from the beginning that our son has Neurological issues that contributed to his GI complications. He is also very accessible. He gave me his number to call or text when needed and is very responsive when I do. He also came and recently saw our son in the hospital when he was hospitalized with Salmonella poisoning. We feel he is the kind of Dr. that goes above and beyond in many respects. Cannot recommend him enough! We love Dr. Russo.
We saw Dr Russo after a 7 month dead end with a highly respected GI Dr in Fort Worth. We where so relieved after the first appt with Dr Russo. The prior Dr had repeatedly implied that we where over reacting about our daughters symptoms. Dr Russo let us know that our daughters GI bleeding issues where something to be concerned about, and that he was confident that he could help.
Eosinophilic esophagitis... a disease I despise has taken years to diagnose. We have been through several pediatric gastro dr's over the years - and Dr Russo is by far our favorite doctor!! He is great with my kids and great with me as the parent. He takes his time, talks to the kids, listens to my questions/concerns, and balances quality of life with my children's condition along with symptoms. He just moved from Children's Dallas to DHAT - and when I received the call he was leaving, I actually cried... but soon learned he was just moving locations within the metroplex - not leaving the area/ medicine all together. I could not more strongly endorse a particular doctor if I tried!!
Dr Russo is an amazing doctor. My daughter has had a lot of GI problems that have not always been easy to diagnose. He has never given up. I would recommend him to anyone without hesitation. We Love Dr. Russo.
Dr. Russo is an absolute Blessing to our son & family. When we are at our Dr. visit, nothing else matters to Dr. Russo but our son during that time. He is soft spoken, caring & rapidly gained the trust of our son. He worked diligently with us trying to get our son's Crohn's disease under control & I can happily say our son is doing AMAZING!! I can't say enough kind words about Dr. Russo - we will be grateful to him for life.
Great doctor, soft-spoken, kind, and will listen. Don't be afraid to tell him you opinions, and thoughts. He is sure to listen, and treat you to the best of his ability!
My son continues to receive excellent care from Dr. Russo. I recommend him without reservation.
Very caring!!! We saw 3 GI specialist prior to Dr Russo, he was the only one that seemed to care at all, and didnt just jump to diagnosing an allergy as the underlying issue. We will always be great full to Dr Russo.
Our daughter was hospitalized for 10 days due to a major flare up and Dr. Russo failed to call or come see her even once. We ended up seeing 4 rotating doctors during the stay, which was frustrating to say the least. Her scopes were done by one of these rotating doctors and we were told Russo was being informed of her results. I do not want a second hand diagnosis from someone who can't be bothered to be there or even pick up the phone. He then does not bother to see her for 2 weeks after her release, even though the hospital recommended 1 week follow-up. It was clear that he had not read her hospital notes and did not even recall what caused her to be hospitalized. He puts on a good act and seems to care but clearly he does not. Don't waste your time with this guy - your child deserves better!
First of all you need to learn to listen to parents and NOT judge them because THEY know their children! Second of all not all parents are bad parents and want to hurt their children some of us actually want to help them. It is no thanks to you that our son is finally diagnosed! Do you realize that if we had not continued to test him he would have eventually had to have a liver transplant? No, you don't because you were to focused on us as parents hurting him and not him acutally having something wrong. Well thank you very much for calling CPS on us and not believing us. By the way even CPS could see that there was/is something wrong with him and closed the case before it even opened! So here is some advice: don't blame the parents as a cop-out if you can not find the diagnosis!
