Dr. Michael Lee Merrin, MD

Dr. Merrin diagnosed GERD when in fact it was a blocked LAD artery. His contempt and arrogance and certainty that his diagnosis was the correct one created a life-threatening situation that could have resulted in tragedy. He is by far the worst doctor we have ever worked with. He lacks professional inquisitiveness - he doesn't care. He makes a snap diagnosis and when the patient doesn't respond to treatment he doesn't question the diagnosis. Instead, he questions the patient. His backwards approach is dangerous is contrary to what one expects from a healthcare professional.

Dr. Merrin's original opinion re. my supraglottal mass was correct. Unfortunately, the ensuing biopsy did not prove to show a malignant mass, although abnormal cellular aberrations were evident. A subsequent re-examination by Dr. Merrin led him to suggest a repeat of the biopsy. This time, the pathologist reported a malignant mass (squamous cell carcinoma). The condition having been identified allows me to commence radiological treatment. Dr. Merrin's persistence will hopefully lead to successful therapy.
