Dr. Michael Joseph Silverglat, MD

Years ago I was treated by Dr. Silverglat as an inpatient in the neurobehavioral unit. It was one of the most difficult, painful times of my life and initially I trusted his belief that certain medications would help the depression and anxiety. However, as I experienced terrible side effects that worsened symptoms I was deemed resistant to treatment, even though I truly wanted to find healing. So what happened? Shipped off to the State Hospital after a commitment hearing where he didn't even show up to speak on my behalf. As someone else stated, I too am glad to see he's gone into sleep medicine where less harm can be inflicted.

I honestly can't say what Dr. Silverglat is like as a sleep medicine specialist. But based on my prior experience with him, while he was in psychiatry, I can say it was truly awful. Beneath the initial charm was a controlling person who saw any disagreement with treatment as a challenge to his authority. I truly don't believe the "working as a team" statement, unless he's mellowed with age.

I was a patient of this so called doctor for several years, starting at about age 14. I found him below average in everyway, and unable to do anything but follow the standard protocol, no matter how ineffective. I am pleased to know that he is doing this sleep clinic thing now, since it makes it less likely that he will screw up another persons life as he did mine through bad decisions, drugs that don't work and mediocrity.

I have been seeing Dr. Silverglat about my sleep problems for 10 years. He explains everything in detail to me so I understand what is happening to me and why. I highly recommend him for anyone with a sleep disorder.
