A real family doctor and Christian...and I am a nurse!

My mother, 88 years old, has been a patient of Dr. Dayton's for years, about 10, maybe more. Today, we needed a very simple form filled out and were told by staff when we called before the end of business hours that "he wouldn't be able to do it until Monday" even though we said it was critical that it be done today so she can be safe over the weekend in an assisted living home. In fact, someone hand delivered the form to the office. I contacted him just after the office closed via the answering service. He said that he "would not fill out the form" even though it was simple and straightforward. Instead, he said "if it is so simple, why don't you have the recent surgeon do it?" Dr. Dayton has been my mother's primary doctor for years. This is the worst condition she has ever been in and the most urgent time she needed her doctor to step up. I was aghast at his insensitivity and apparent lack of interest or concern.I informed Dr. Dayton that we were done with him and would next… contact him for records to send to her new internist. His unprofessional behavior was appalling. I would never recommend him and only wish we had had a more invested physician when we most needed it. Find someone else.
