Dr. Bettencourt is awesome! She found skin cancer on 2 areas that my previous Dr missed. She is very thorough and truly cares about her patients. She takes her time and makes sure all your concerns are addressed. Very kind and understanding, and has the most gentle bedside manner around.
Dr B's office has the best team of medical staff I have seen in a long, long time. Despite the doctor being super busy, she still took the time to make me feel like I was the only patient there. She's also incredibly competent. I recommend the Bettencourt Skin Center as first rate!
I have been a patient for over 12 year. She is a fantastic doctor. I highly recommend her. Operated on me twice for skin cancer with great results.
Dr. Bettencourt has always taken extraordinary care with me. I recommend her to any who asks.
Dr. Bettencourt is both professional and personable. She has been caring for my skin cancer needs for several years and she remains supportive and informative as I receive treatments. I highly recommend Dr. Bettencourt!
My poor mom. What she has gone through is appalling. This office should be ashamed of them selves. An quit blaming Obama Care. You know you are the issue...not the insurance.
Dr. Bettencourt has been taking care of my husband and I for quite a while now. She is a wonderfully educated and skilled doctor with great bedside manner, and we are lucky to have her in our lives. She was able to diagnose a problem for my husband that no other doctor could. And prescribe the necessary treatments to control the condition. She continues to care for both of us, whatever the issues are, in a dedicated manner. And we would, and have, recommended her to numerous friends and family. Her staff, starting at the front desk, carry on her excellent patient service.
Dr. Bettencourt is, hands down, the best dermatologist in the city. I have seen her for everything from rashes to mole checks (which I think everyone with our sun should have). She is brilliant, and can literally diagnose you with a glance. She is also a Mohs surgeon, which means that she has the highest training that exists for skin cancer. She has removed precancerous moles for me with minimal scarring. My daughters have seen her for acne, which completely cleared up under her treatment. Moreover, she is kind and caring and takes as much time with you as you need. Her office is well-run, and her staff is pleasant and professional. Dr. Bettencourt is the best!
My husband & I have been going to Dr. Bettencourt for over 10 yrs. and have complete trust in her judgement. When other Dermotologists recommend their patients to her for her expertise in Mohs Surgery - that is when you know you are in the best hands possible !
Dr. Benecourt is very thorough and has excellent techniques to aide in prevention of skin Cancer! She is very explanatory and provides me with the knowledge necessary to avoid other skin issues!! I have been a patient for over the past 7 years, and am very pleased with her skills!
Dr. Bettencourt and her staff are so very caring and have great technical skills. Several staff members worked with me and I was pleased with how personal and friendly as well as knowledgeable each one was. The doctor is beyond words in her skill and she put me at ease and explained the procedure I needed in a way I could understand. I would refer Dr. Bettencourt and Advanced Dermatology to everyone.
We have been going to Dr. Bettencourt for a number of years. We are happy that she finds (from all or sun exposure) the pre-cancer problems. She is the best !!!
I have been a patient of Dr. Bettencourt's for many years after very disappointing results with a large clinic with revolving doctors. I saw Dr. Bettencourt after getting an annual check up and clean bill of health for the next year at the clinic yet Dr. Bettencourt found a mole that turned out to be precancerous that she removed immediately. I am fortunate to have her as my dermatologist.
She always spends plenty of time to me to check me out and follow up. Great to work with.
Dr. Bettencourt has an excellent bedside manner. She is Duke trained and an expert at her craft. Be sure to thoroughly explain the purpose for your visit to her nurse so she can zero in on your issues immediately. She has always been a leader in choosing the best skincare products and is highly knowledgeable in addressing all of my skin related concerns. On more than one occasion she identified and removed pre cancerous spots. If you ever went to a tanning salon or regularly baked your skin in the sun, make an appointment today. I've done the research, no one has an eye for irregular moles like Dr. Bettencourt.
I have been going to Dr. Bettencourt for over 10 years and feel confident in her abilities and treatment.
Dr. Bettencourt treated a skin cancer in my face, she did an excellent job, so good that the doctor that refer me to her could not believe me, he said she could be a plastic surgeon, I went to her because this doctor could not perform the surgery because it was in a very delicate placeb! thanks so much doctor !i actually wanted to give her 5 stars and for some reason gave only 4 and I could not change it !
I've had skin cancer twice, and both times, Dr. Bettencourt saw it in seconds, confirmed the diagnosis with 100% accuracy, and then dispatched it with unparalleled skill and with minimal scarring. I could not be more pleased with the result. I have numerous professional friends, many of whom are physicians, so I asked around for a referral. They all recommended Dr. Bettencourt as the best in town. In my view, they were right. I recommend her to all.
Dr. Bettencourt has a great bedside manner while at the same time completing a detail assessment of potentially cancerous moles. She answers questions in a straightforward manner. Would highly recommend.
I first met Dr. Miriam Bettencourt approximately thirteen years ago. We had been referred to her for my wifeâs dysplastic moles. At our first appointment while talking with my wife Dr. Bettencourt would periodically would look over at me. After a number of glances she stepped toward me at which I stepped back. She laughed and said she wanted to check something. I had a red spot under my eye that would come and go, scab over, and occasionally bleed. Dr. Bettencourt suggested that we biopsy that little red spot then and there. It turned out to be skin cancer. An appointment was made and she very skillfully over a number of hours was able to remove all of the cancer without scarring my face. To say that she is extremely observant is almost a misnomer. She also, in my opinion, has her priorities right in that anytime I have been in her office for a regular checkup should she discover something that needs attention she will address it immediately. We have continued to faithfully go to Dr. Bettencourt for regular checkups. I find her to be very professional, extremely skilled, very caring, and always willing to listen attentively to any concerns I might have. I HIGHLY recommend her.
Dr. Bettencourt is a gifted Doctor, who cares very much about her patients. She is a wonderful diagnostician. I had occasion to see her several years ago for skin cancer removal, and she got a clear margin the first time. Since then, I have seen her regularly and I find her to be very thorough, diligent and compassionate. I wholeheartedly recommend her!
Dr. Bettencourt is one of the top physicians I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. She is very thorough and professional, and she has expertise in psoriasis that I have not seen before. She is heavily involved in patient care and conducts research for new drugs. She also is recognized for speaking around the world about Dermatology. I would highly recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Bettencourt is an excellent dermatologist. She has a wonderful approach and gives the patient the time needed. I appreciate the time she takes with me on each visit. Her office staff is always friendly and helpful as well. I would highly recommend her!
I'm so happy I found Dr. Bettencourt! She really listens and I didn't feel rushed! All my questions were answered and I felt relieved and at ease!
I would definately recommend Dr. Bettincourt if you are looking for a dermatologist. She is professional, bright and a concerned physician. She doesn't waste time having you come back and forth for multiple unnecessary procedures. She makes a diagnosis sometimes requiring a biopsy and has a tailored treatment plan to discuss with you on your followup visit. She is also a celebrated academician and speaker. She is an outstanding dermatologist all around!
My husband and I have had a doctor patient relationship with Dr. Bettencourt for over thirteen years. She is highly respected in her profession and shares her expertise all over the world. We are very pleased to call her our doctor.
Dr Bettencourt is caring compassionate, knowledgeable. The office staff are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend her.
Since I moved to Las Vegas in 1977, myself & my family have seen enough Skin Dr's until I found Dr. Bettencourt in 2008, I will recommend her to all of you out there. To find skin cancer SHE IS THE BEST!
I see Dr Bettencourt often to get my skin check-ups. I have a lot of moles and used to live in the sun in my 20's. She has always made me feel comfortable when explaining my problems and how to keep me looking young in the desert! Her staff is always very friendly. I recommend her to everyone I know because our skin is the most important and she is an expert!
Dr. Bettencourt has removed several pre-cancerous lesions quickly and easily. She is my first choice for any dermatological issue. Highly recommended.
Dr. Bettencourt is a wonderful physician. She diagnoses and treats skin problems efficiently. I would recommend her to anyone.
My husband and entire family have been patients of Dr. Bettencourt for many years. Many times Doctors tell you what you want to hear...however, Dr. Bettencourt tells you what you need to hear to ensure your skin health. We appreciate that very much. Yes, she is busy and the reason for that is she is the best there is. I would trust no one else to take care of my family including my 95 year old mother-in-law. Living in this sunny climate we have to be confident in our dermatologist! And we are!
She is a narcissistic, money driven person. I find it hard to believe she took the oath to do no harm!
What an ordeal. Arrived 30 minutes before my appointment as requested, filled out all of the paperwork and then....the waiting. 30 minutes in the lobby, hey they called me back sweet.....nope, more waiting. Then another dolt comes in and reads the questions I just answered on the form...from the form! After my nodding "yes" and "yes" i finally say. If you are simply going to regurgitate to me everything I just wrote, there is no need. That info is current, I filled it out 35 minutes ago, it's ok to assume it's accurate". Then she says, "the doctor will be right in" by "right in", she meant "put your feet up, it's gonna be a while" finally an hour into it the Dr. shows up. The same thing happened the second time at which point I said, How can a Doctor be an hour late at 8:00 in the morning. There is something wrong with the operation of this company. I cancelled my next appointment and found another Doctor.
I went im for my first appointment and waited over 2 hours and Dr B spent no more than 2 minutes with me in the room before deciding I needed a biopsy. Second visit I found out it was basal cell and I am thankful she found it however she did not educate me on what basal cell is and left the room immediately and left the nurse to tell me what to expect! The nurse tried her best to educate me and was very kind however it unsettles me that the doctor wont give you the time of day after telling you that you need surgery to remove the cancer and come to find out I could have used a topical medication instead of having her butcher my face! My third appointment was for the surgery which I was there for over 4 hours in a room with other people who where having the same thing done where you could overhear everything going on outside that room which in a few instances I over heard her being less than friendly to her own staff. Very bad bedside manner. Also come to find out she puts in the stitches the next day which she says is for the best but my ER doctor thinks that was the cause of my staph infection! Yupp after all the bad experiences I got a bad staph infection and less than pleasant scar! My face is ruined forever!! Stay away from this place!!
Dreadful person. Curt, nasty personality. Makes a terrible impression. Might be a good doctor but there are plenty of good doctors who care about their patients. Won't be seeing her again. Two hour wait andshe did not spend three minutes in the room. Don't recommend a doctor such as her!
I really do not have anything positive to say and I am not that much of a negative person. The wait was over 1.5 hours in a cold, dark (no lights in waiting room) environment. The PA was the rudest most condescending woman I have ever met in a Dr.'s office. The Dr. left a scar on my face and was very abrupt having no time for questions. If you value your skin-do not go here!!!
I had heard and read both positive and negative about this Dr. I saw the PA since she was running about one hour behind. PA did a very thorough job of my annual skin check and found a few spots she wanted to verify with the Dr. She was very, very brief, checked the few spots, said I needed them scraped and biopsied and gave me no time to ask anything, was in and out in TWO minutes.
It is now 6 years later....I had a deep scar provided by Dr. Bettencourt...she advised that maybe later I should see a plastic surgeon to repair it....The basil cell carcinoma was not completely removed by Dr. Bettencourt - I have now had most of my nose removed and plastic surgery to reconstruct - due to her inept ability to have the common sense to recommend a better surgeon for this type of procedure!
Dr. Bettencourt is knowledgeable, but her staff is rude and incompetent. She does not do anything with the input about her staff, so I've went elsewhere for my medical needs.
My family and I were patients of Dr. Bettencourt for many years until she started price gouging at her appointments. She would freeze a "few" skin lesions and charge for "many" of them at a very high price-hundreds of dollars in fact. Unfortunately it was the offices word against mine on what was actually done and what the insurance didn't cover. You also needed to go back and have many of them re-frozen off in a few weeks. More appointments with more costs! This is for freezings not biopsies. They said that it is normal for things to need to be re-frozen many times! (other dermotologist do it once and it doesn't need to be done again later)She also pushes very costly anti aging skin products and creams. Maybe they get kick backs from those companies.Be very careful of what is done at each office visit and ask questions and get costs prior to any procedures being done. They are very sneaky how they do their charges and billing. Keep track and verify EVERYTHING at the time of each visit. It is sad as she is a knowledgeable dermatologist. There are many other good dermatologists in the Las Vegas valley. Learn from our mistakes.
Dr. Bettencourt and her staff are very professional and caring.
WHILE A PATIENT AT THE WHITNEY RANCH OFFICE I RATED DR BETTENCOURT AND HER STAFF AS EXCELLENT!ON EACH OF MY 3 VISITS TO HER NEW OFFICE I WOULD RATE MY6 PATIENT CARE AS TOTALLT UNACCEPTABLE! WHILE THE MED TECHS APPEAR TO BE CARING, THE ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF IS RUDE AND DEMANDING AND CAUSE ENOUGH NOT TO GO BACK! HOWEVER, I ALSO RATE DR BETTENCOURT AS OVEREXTENDED, NOT GIVING EACH PATIENT ADEQUATE TIME TO DIAGNOSE AND TREAT PRESENTED ILLNESSES. ON MY LAST VISIT SHE OBSERVED MY RASH FROM ACROSS THE ROOM, DID NOT SAMPLE NOR SCRAPE, PRESCRIBED A CORTIZONE CREAM AND IN 5 MINUTES SENT ME ON MY WAY.I WAS TOLD BY HER ADMIN CLERK I MUST PICK UP MY PRESCRITION AT THE CVS PHARMACY AT WIGWAM AND PECOS! I DID NOT! I ALSO WILL NOT BE RETURNING TO DR BETTENCOURT FOR TREATMENT AND YOU PROBABLY SHOULDNT EITHER!!
DON'T COME HERE!! Rude, rushed, & overbooked! That describes my visit here in regards to the doctor & her staff. People go to the doctor all the time with questions, so I don't understand why the doctor constantly dismissed mine. Not to mention she openly displayed aggravation when I was trying to ask some simple questions. I wanted a physician who can I can be partners with in terms of my healthcare & she was definitely NOT that. Too bad for her, I know a TON of people because of the field I am in & she will NOT be receiving any referrals from me nor will I be returning.
If you want to make a question about your condition do not go to this doctor because she is really rude and she gets angry if you dare to talk she is the only one who can talk during your visit. From my experience she is not helpful, she is rude, and her diagnostic was completely wrong.
I would have written this sooner, but I was too busy looking for a new dermatologist. I was recommended by some friends, but have since learned my lesson to ask my regular doctor instead. Their office motto "We listen, we care." What a joke. The doctor didn't care to listen to me. In fact. when I tried to ask questions she got mad, talked down to me, & rushed out of the room. So rude (and if I thought she was rude to me, I was horrified to hear her reaming her staff in the hallway as I could hear her from the room I was in)! And this is after I waited 1 hour in the waiting room and maybe another hour in the back. Plus, she didn't even address what I came in for. She was more concerned with wanting to biopsy multiple spots, which I understand, but could we at least address what I came in for as well?! After reading several other reviews on her, I'm glad I didn't agree to the procedures. I've read about her scarring patients. I'd fight to get my co-pay back, but I just want to be done with that place and have since found a dermatologist I am happy with. Advice to all...read a doctor's reviews before going!
Dr. Bettencourt is a great listener. She's attentive and thorough. Bettencourt quickly identified and resolved problems.
After waiting to get in as a new patient for about 3 months I have been to see Bettencort a few times, both of which I waited over an hour to be seen. The first visit consisted of a quick look over, she didn't even bend over to inspect my lower body. She did a biopsy on a light pink mole I had on my thigh. I go back a couple weeks later for the results, of course they can't release these over the phone because this money hungry doctor wants to charge my insurance for anything and everything she can. Well the biopsy comes back pre cancerous for melanoma she tells me, I'm 25, it was a shock but I guess age has nothing to do with it, it was just strange because it looked NOTHING like a melanoma mole, complete opposite actually. So a few weeks later I go back for surgery. I ask her if I will have a bad scar, her response is "would u rather have a scar or skin cancer?" Seriously? After shunning all my questions of to her assistant, she finally administers the surgery leaving me with the nastiest wound I have ever seen. 10 days later, part of my skin is black and dead, which will scab over and leave a nasty scar. She sowed me up with dissolvable sutures on the outside, according to my plastic surgeon, that is the works of someone who has absolutely no clue what their doing. His first comment was that it was the worst stitch job he had ever seen in his 30 years of practicing and he cant believe she is board certified. Putting dissolvable sutures (which are white & fibrous like thread) on the outside of a wound is guaranteed to give you the worst possible scar u can have. They are supposed to use fishing line type of thread on the outside. My plastic surgeon also said that the 16 days Bettencort makes u leave the stitches in is ridiculously too long, I saw him yesterday at the 9 day point and he removed them for me to try and save me from a puckered manly looking scar that is unnecessary for this type of procedure. The moral of the story is never let a dermatologist perform surgery on you, they are not trained and in this case Bettencort has no clue what she is doing. I will be obtaining my biopsy report from her office to see if it really was a pre cancerous mole or if she was just scamming to try and get the $15 from my insurance for the surgery. She is an awful doctor, doesn't listen to u, repeatedly interrupts when u speak, runs in and out of the room several times while ur in the middle of speaking to her and then rushes you out before your done asking questions, doesn't take her time.... She diagnosed my husband with eczema on his hands dispute him telling her that we recently moved to a home with well water and have been doing a lot of yard work. He simply wanted a recommendation for lotion that will stop his hands from cracking. She said as we get older we develop conditions, yep ok, just coincidently he develops eczema the same week we move, she had not interest in listening to a thing he had to say. And after my "surgery" I asked if she would look at a spot I have on my calf and hands, well her assistant jumped in and said insurance won't cover a look over the same day as surgery. OMG, that was the moment I decided I was gonna find a new dermatologist, before I even looked at my scar!!! Talk about being all about the money. A doctor that cant take 60 seconds to look at a body part that she didn't bother looking at on my first visit isn't a doctor in my eyes. After all, she was PAID for that first visit and she didn't give me a through look over.
Prepare yourself to wait about an hour after your appointment time. You will then see Dr. Bettencourt for a total of maybe ten minutes, while she attends to three other patients at the same time. And the doctor will try to sell you a $300 skin care package. I wasted an unnecessary two hours while they processed dozens of patients through their office. I've been here before, and in an attempt to remedy their ongoing customer service problems, they now display posters that explain "why" you will be inconvenienced. "The doctor will spend an appropriate amount of time with you", etc. And silly signs are now displayed that state that they "care". Very funny. If this practice actually cared about patients, they would not book every single patient at fifteen minute intervals all day long. If you treat people like sardines, and do everything you can you crank them through your office, rather than taking the time to listen to them, you will continue to receive bad ratings from patients. I'll be looking for a better rated dermatologist for the next visit.
My overall satisfaction is poor. The doctor has many patients with small intervals between appointments. During my wait time in the office, I believe there were about 10 additional people waiting. My visit was short, the doctor hurried the process and did not provide any info, and when asked questions I felt like I was delaying her. The nurse provided me with info about the procedure I had done, which as came out later was incorrect information. The office did not infor me about their charges, even after I asked about the approximate cost. THe worst of all, I was supposed to get a phone call 2 weeks after the visit with the results of my procedure. No one ever called me, and when I called the office, I was informed that no call is PROBABLY a good news, and I was supposed to leave a message for nurses to call me back. I definetely do not want to go back to that office again, and would not recommend it to anyone either. I understand that more patients mean more money...but that is not the way to treat patients.
My appointment overall lasted 2 hours. I spent a total of 15 minutes with the DR the whole time. I had to wait three months to get the apt. I also had a follow up apt. but because I have a one year old who is not aloud to go to the office with me, I have had to reschedule three times and have had a mont wait each time. I do understand why children cannot be there, but I refuse to pay a drop in daycare service for three hours to go to the dr for 15 minutes. I had a freckle lanced and have a bad scar (it is at the bottomof my foot so I can deal with it) I have had two other areas lanced by another Dr,one even on my face and there are no scars.I would be sure to discuss scaring before you have anything removed.
as you can make A LOT of mistakes seeing the wrong dermatologist in this town... I recommend if you have a problem and want it solved see her... don&# ...
This office is ridiculous. You cant even get an appointment for 6 months and they wont even schedule you becuase its too far out. Yeah maybe Hire an associate or work more days. Waiting 6 months is outrageous. The staff was completely indifferent and did not care at all. Just said" we are busy" Duh I guess you wont be busy with me!!!
Having had Melanoma and moving to NV, I needed a good Dermatologist. The first doctor when finding a suspicious mark said it was up to me to have it removed. Not Dr. Bettencourt! She explained and insisted it should be removed and biopsied immediately. I am glad to be in the hands of a thorough and meticulous doctor.I would also recommend her to anyone who needs highly specialized care to help restore volume and fullness to your face. Thank you Dr. Bettencourt.
I was referred to Dr. Bettencourt by a friend and while she was professional and caring, I am disappointed with my procedure.I have cysts removed from my scalp and my other dermatologists in 2 different states have not a problem with this. Dr. Bettencourt cauterized the incision, instead of using solely stitches to close the wound (as my other doctors had) and now I have a bald spot on my head. It was unnecessary and now I have to cover the spot with other hair. In addition, I had stitches and they never scheduled me for removal. I had to call to tell them I stil had them in.The waiting room is too small, always crowded and the wait is long.I would not go back to Dr. Bettencourt.
dr Miriam is very nice and caring. I went to take care of some skin problems and she notice a weird mole in my back that came out pre-cancerous. She explained what had to be done and all the precations that i should take, she made me feel comfortable. I recommend her to all my friends
