Dr. Nicholas Arthur Soter, MD

Offered no insights into my condition. Didn’t ask questions. Barely spoke at all. Waste of time.

I have been going to Dr. Soter for many years now due to a rare disorder. I was going to someone else before who spent lots of time with me but gave me the wrong treatment. Dr. Soter does not need to spend a lot of time figuring things out because he knows his stuff. He is caring and extremely knowledgeable. I trust him 100%. He knew how to handle my condition extremely well during the idifferent phases of it.

I have a very rare AI disease. I had been told Soter was one of the only ones who treats it. I saw him several times. Perfunctory. No emotion. No definitive answers to my questions. After three visits, I felt like I knew more about my disease than he did. In my research, I discovered another MD who specializes in my disease. It was like night and day. It turns out that Soter's former partner was the specialist. When he passed away, Soter took over without any extra knowledge of the disease and its treatments. It would have been helpful to know that at the beginning. I feel like Langone NYU is all about the money and will say yes, yes, yes until it's proven they cannot treat you.

Do not waste your time seeing this physician. He showed no interest whatsoever

I have a very definitive diagnosis and was hoping Dr. Soter could provide thorough expertise. Not the case at all. Initial appointment lasted 10 minutes and cost me $430.

Had to stop going to phototherapy after my terrible experience with Dr. Soter. He expressed 0 interest in working with me and only asks you 1 question: "what's your itch level now on a scale of 1-5" I've seen many many dermatologists in my time and I've never come across a worse doctor. The sad part is, the institution and nursing staff is aware and no one is doing anything about his negligent care. He should be sued or retire, anything less is disservice to those seeking treatment at the NYU Phototherapy clinic. I would give him "0" stars if I could. DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR.

I am deeply grateful for the expert diagnosis and treatment which I have received from Dr. Soter. My persistent and extreme outbreaks on the skin last year were difficult for many of the best dermatologists in the City. When I turned for help from NYU, following the suggestion of one of those doctors, I turned to Dr. Soter who specialized in hives, itch, allergy among others. Four months into his care, I was nearly cured. It is a great relief to know that I can wear my under clothes, jackets and heavy coats again in the winter. I am fortunate to have turned to this exceptional doctor in the critical time of my illness.

for someone who " specializes in dermatological immunology diseases, pathophysiology of urticaria, mastocytosis and photosensitivity disorders. Special areas of interest are mast cell biology and inflammatory mediators in dermatologic disorders, and angioedema, cutaneous necrotizing vasculitides", i left there with NO answers to any questions re: my skin problems. he was polite, but totally unable to help in ANY way. don't know if it was his fault or the fault of the person who booked appt. and told me he was the "one to see"

Consummate professional. Highly skilled. Punctual. One of the best medical professionals I have ever seen.

When several others misdiagnosed me and I was ill for years it was finally Dr. Soter who got to the bottom of what was wrong. I attribute this to the fact that he is an amazing doctor who is top in his field. Dr. Soter really cares and always has a plan. There is no one better.
