Dr. Nora R Taylor, MD

Not impressed. She made me feel as if this appt was a waste of her time as she had a non-rheumatological explanation for my test results and my reports of joint pain. She scrunched her face up while explaining that she didn’t feel it necessary to look into any treatment. I felt like she was talking down to me and dismissing me. Told me I didn’t need a follow-up until my symptoms got worse. Will not make any more appts with her

My GW doctor had been urging me to see a rheumatologist because of frequent illness - he had been very helpful in treating symptoms but was concerned about repeated recurrence. Dr. Taylor treated me very similarly to the person who saw her for fatigue though that was not my issue. I am obese, and that is partly related to the problems I've been having over last few years. She entered with a friendly greeting and then increasingly seemed barely able to conceal her contempt. She quickly noted reading my file that she could rule out the specific concern my dr had noted in the referral. However, had she been willing to let me talk (she interrupted dismissively each time), I could have told her the dr hadn't thought the condition likely but thought someone should look for underlying condition. Dr. Taylor said that I appeared fine (and indeed I was that day). She noted that I did not have documentation for all the times I'd been ill over the previous year (I cld have provided if I'd… known I needed to bring proof.) She didn't order any tests. She had said a couple of times when she first came in that she would do a full physical exam. She asked me to change into a gown and paper shorts. The shorts didn't fit (I left my underwear on). When she returned and saw that I hadn't put them on, she was irritated. She began examining my feet, but when she then moved to press my abdomen, she stopped (she looked disgusted), said I was fine & shld get dressed. She came back & reiterated that I was clearly healthy, that she had addressed the referring dr's specific concern, noted that without test results (which I could have provided) my reports of previous illness were only my opinion, she said I should not make any follow up appointments with her (not sure why she thought I would). Then she gave me some info sheets on weight with a bmi chart. I am sorry I disgusted her, but I was miserable w shame for days so at least she has that. Honestly, I wish non-ER docs could be open about their fat phobia and not schedule appts w us. I'm so hesitant to go to any new doc that I haven't had recommended tests in years. I don't doubt that Dr. Taylor is the fine physician noted by other reviewers - just not for everyone.

OMG..Dr. Taylor is the best! She is warm and caring and she will actually call you and follow up with you later, if you came in feeling really bad. She is the best doctor ever!! I was in the hospital overnight and she came every single day to visit me. I couldn't ask for a better rheumatologist!! She not only cares about you physically, but she cares about y our personal well-being. She can always tell if I'm having a bad day when I come into the office. She is just connected with me as a patient. Sometimes I'm feeling great and just want to see her anyway..

It is hard to believe someone had a negative experience with Dr.Taylor. She seems very caring and follows up quite promptly as well as spent considerable amount of time at the appointment and let me ask her as many questions as I could think of. Very approachable and informative. In fact, I liked that she wanted to take her time in giving the right diagnosis as oppose to quickly jumping to conclusion. I would definitely recommend her.

My appointment with Dr. Taylor (now with GW Medical Associates) was very frustrating. I explained to her that I had been experiencing numerous symptoms for over 1.5 years, including extreme fatigue. She wrote me a prescription for "exercise." (Yes, she actually wrote it out.) Subsequently, I visited a more competent doctor who diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Dr. Taylor did not take my symptoms seriously and her "prescription for exercise" was derisive. Don't bother visiting her.

Warm and caring ... Dr. Taylor listened to my concerns and questions and followed up with me by phone. I would definitely recommend her!
