Dr. Oscar Cruz, MD

He has no patience for children or the parents. He comes at you with a very arrogant "better than everyone" attitude. He cuts you off and couldn't be bothered about your questions pertaining to appointment. The nurses said he does that to everyone and is rude to people in office as well.

My son has seen Dr Cruz from the age of 18 months to now, almost 5. He seems to have very little patience with children, and for that matter, parents. When we were to start patching, he was rude and seemed annoyed by our questions. He spends a total of about 3 min in the room with us per visit. The only reason we've stayed this long is because we really like Cardinal Glennon and his other staff are truly great. I will be asking to schedule with a different Doctor for his next appointment.

Dr Cruz’s lack of bedside manner, is truly matched by his level of tact, class, and patient care. My son has seen him 3 times in the past 8 months and he might have spent a collective 5 minutes with him.

My daughter has been going to Dr. Cruz for 15 years now and she loves him. He is great with kids.

I would advise against the online scheduling, never received a call back. Also the scheduling dept at Cardinal Glennon called me once the day before our appointment to cancel, never offering a reschedule after having the appointment for months. The staff is very good. We've been to about 5 pediatric ophthalmologists and I haven't seen a better Doctor in the St. Louis area.

This doctor has his students look your child over, then he comes in for about 5-10 min looks for himself, does the same tests, which at this point your child May or may not do what they are supposed to do, then quickly tells you what's wrong. You always have to wait for long periods of time, the students that do the exams are usually friendly with my kid. Only once did I get someone who had no business working with kids. Follow ups are far and few in between. But I would give dr Cruz a big fat zero on the pure fact that he over corrected my daughters eyes and now her eyes went from a mild case of lazy eye to a wide variable of movement. Up down and cross eyed. Due to this she gets headaches and her vision is impaired. But he doesn't care. Sent me to a different doctor because he didn't know how to fix his own mistake. The new doctor. Dr davitt, keeps playing phone tag with me and it has now been over 4 months since seeing him. I would just avoid cardinal glennon all together,… concerning eye care anyway

Dr. Cruz is great! He diagnosed my daughter as a baby and has been treating her for 8 years. The waiting room is often crowded and it takes awhile to get in to see him but his bedside manner is worth it. He always smiles and acts happy to see us. He even gave me his e-mail address encase I had concerns or questions. He is a caring doctor who wants the best for his patients.

The rating of four star for doctor cruz according to me is way over rated. Recently, I was in his office with my grand-daughter and you would not believe what happened to me, because I still don't. We were the last patient to be seen. After speaking with office affilitates who were very professional, do you know we were informed he had left the building. Really, he left the building without examining my grand daughter (a patient) whose appointment was with him. We waited three months for this appointment only to not be seen by the him (the scheduled doctor). Unbelievable.
