Dr. Pamela B Abrams, MD

My son has been going to Dr Abrams for 4 years or so. She spends time with us, looks us in the eyes while she speaks, and explains everything to us so well. She's even calls me when she wants to adjust my son's insulin pump vs a nurse. Also, when my son wasn't doing as well, she was always so encouraging to him. Now that my son is 21, he has to go to a different doctor since Dr Abrams is Pediatric Endocrinologist. I can only hope the new dr will be as good and personal!

The appointment was a complete waste of time. This doctor has no clue about autoimmune thyroid diseases. She wants to treat them just like any other thyroid disease, and with the exact same medication. She also bashed certain types of medical professionals in front of my child and a medical student that was also in the room. She has no idea what an autoimmune protocol diet is, and said that if any food elimination made a person feel better that they must be allergic to that food. I guess she's never heard of a food sensitivity. She prescribed a medication for my child, and said that if it worked that it was a placebo effect. My child is young, and doesn't even know what that means. If that's how this doc feels about that particular med, then why even prescribe it? Then she said that it was very expensive and not always available, it was in the pharmacy and only $5. Oh so expensive. If you have an autoimmune disease, I recommend a holistic D.O.. Not this woman. Never again.

Dr Abrams spent quite a while explaining the medical reasoning behind her opinion and course of treatment for my daughter. I did not agree with her but I trusted her decision after she explained everything to me.

Dr. Abrams looked my daughter in the eye when speaking to her (my daughter is 16). Spoke in terms that she would understand and Made sure that all of our questions were answered. She didn't rush us out and did not talk down to my daughter. If she didn't specialize in pediatric endocronology I would be going to her myself.
