Dr. Patricia Gao, MD

The average waiting time for our visit is 2 hours or more and she only spent 2 or 3 minutes with us when she was busy to input our data to her system. Last Saturday 50 patients were treated within 3 hours based on the sign in sheet! I've never come across a "doctor" with such less appreciation for professionalism or ethical conduct! She doesn't care about patients only about getting paid.

She speaks very well and appears very knowledgable. But she did a few unnecessary procedures (shots) on my son (which happened so quickly that I didn't not have time to google if it was necessary).

For children with virus infection she likes to use antibiotics, so you don't need to come to see her again. During the course of 2 years, my son had got 10 different antibiotics from her. She is not responsible, only for short benefits of her own double booking business.

We have been going to Dr. Gao for 14 years. I agree about the wait time being terrible because of overbooking. My tip is to get the earliest appointment for the day, then be in the office 30 minutes earlier. When they do open, you'll be the first to get in despite the many other patients scheduled the same time as you are. Beats waiting for 1-2 hours. Anyway, Dr. Gao does talk fast, and she does not seem to need to even think or blink when making a diagnosis. I'm impressed with that in that she knows what is wrong right away and is very confident with it. The people who answer the phone are PLAIN RUDE. They sound as if YOU ARE DOING THEM A FAVOR by calling their office. They are abrupt, DO NOT SMILE EVER, and are just plain mean. But the nursing assistants(?) are nice. It's just these front desk people that really get to me.

I felt like part of the cattle herd. Office was packed and Dr. had one foot out the door while spending her 3 minutes with us. Some staff members very nice but overall staff rude, uneducated, and abrupt. Didn't trust info I was given by staff or Dr. Looked and found a much better pediatrician in Staten Island. Don't settle!

She is a Wonderful doctor! My son has been going to her since he was a newborn and every visit I leave feeling pleased. She always answers all of my questions and is excellent with the children. The only down is the wait time, but it is worth the time.

The office staff are uncaring lazy and sometimes do not know what there doing.Dr.gao is an excellent doctor but her staff and the waiting time do not make up to it. One of her medical assistants cut my sons ear by trying to pull out wax with a plastic cutip,no one should ever put anything in a childs ear,only the doctor,i do not recomend this doctor as a caring doctor either.

On multiple occasions, we have waited anywhere from one to three hours just to move to examination room due to multiple bookings on the same appointment time. The staff is less than helpful or accommodating and quickly (less than 30 days of invoice) threatens collection if you cannot pay fast enough. This is especially true for those insured with a Health Savings Account (HSA) that is replenished in installments. Unfortunately, Dr. Gao herself acts like she is completely powerless and helpless in her own office when it comes to issues regarding billing, insurance, and her staff. As for Dr. Gao as a doctor, she is average, providing your basic pediatric care (if you can understand her heavily-accented, fast-speaking English), but when it comes to her staff, it simply ruins the entire experience overall.

For the past 2 years Dr Gao has been my child's pediatrician. I really like her and think she did an excellent job with diagnosing and treating my daughter. Unfortunately her staff are mainly interns,inexperienced and not properly supervised(which is quite evident when you meet with them) and the receptionist is very rude. If you can look past all this along with the 30minute waiting room wait (at least!) then Dr Gao is great. I tried to do this for 2 years and finally have decided to leave.

The experience with Patricia Gao is extremely bad for our case. We went to her clinics and we have to wait for 2 and half hours before she can start to look at our child. Then she disappeared after just 3 minutes and we can never talk to her again. She let the nurse handle everything and are impatient to explain anything. The clinic is very crowned and it seems she only cares about how to maximize her income. Please avoid her as possible as you can.
