I have been Paul's patient for YEARS he's always Professional Courteous and always asked how I'm doing. wears a Big Friendly smile his office staff Betty & Paula are very giving and always smiling..

Doctor might be OK, but Receptionist is rude and snobby, ridiculed me just because I had to move my appointments 2 times. She was insisting that I "missed" an appointment while i did not. I was always calling and asking to move it. Communication via Patient Gateway messages is completely ignored by this office, never got any answer from them. Waiting time for an appointment is very long. Not recommended . Find other dermatology office.

Never met a doc as knowledgeable and caring as Dr. Birnbaum. And his staff are amazing! What a breath of fresh air after being treated on Long Island like a robot for so many years!

Great doctor!

I made an appointment to see Dr. Birnbaum for a cancer screening of my face only. I have gotten numerous sunburns over the years and had some concerns. My insurance covers 100% of cancer screenings - they don't even require a co-pay. Receptionist made me pay co-pay. Dr. Birnbaum spent about thirty seconds looking at my face. Said he didn't see anything cancerous. When I asked if he saw anything pre-cancerous, he said, "Anything can be pre-cancerous." I asked about some other more cosmetic issues on my skin and he said he only handles medical skin problems. When I got home, I called my insurance company to find out why I had to pay the co-pay. They said I shouldn't have had to pay one if the doctor coded my visit as a cancer screening. I called the receptionist and told her what my insurance company said. She said she would ask Dr. Birnbaum how he coded my visit. She called me back. She said since I refused the full body screening, he did not consider it a cancer screening,… therefore, she was correct in collecting the $40 co-pay. I subsequently found a new dermatologist for my mother, husband, and cousin. Also, the doctor has seen me come to appointments for all of the above people and yet did not recognize me at my own appointment. I felt as though I had been completely invisible to him on the approximately ten times I saw him over the last few years. Would definitely NOT recommend him to anyone for anything.

misdiagnosed a rash on my face and neck as "folliculitis barbi"...it turned out to be a latex allergic response

This dr. has no bedside manner at all. He was completely frustrated that I had researched my condition on my own and that I asked him questions (I'm an attorney and highly educated myself, even if not a doctor). My concerns were dismissed, and I was treated like an idiot.Although the treatment he gave me worked, he was rough and I felt excruciating pain. He also did not give me any advice on how to treat my wound (I had to call a medical professional friend to get this much-needed advice). I received no warning that I would experience any pain.I had to go back for the first follow up, but I have now found a new dermatologist. When I mentioned my past experience to her she did say that my experience with Dr. Birnbaum was not unique (her office is near hers, and I'm guessing many former patients take flight over there).The worst medical care I've ever received.

Excellent physician. He is a very knowledgeable dermatologist. I would definitely recommend him for any skin related problems.
