Absolutely LOVE Dr. Kwong and her staff. Always a pleasure to visit and have appointments. Helped tremendously with acne and works with you and actually listens to what you have to say.
I had a great experience with Dr. Pearl. She was very nice, answered all my questions. Fixed my son's problem and let me pay the following week. Her staff was really nice and I spent some time talking to her husband, I assume. He was very friendly. i didn't think the reminders on the wall was a big deal and my son loved to follow the footprints on the floor to the exit. I would definitely recommend her.
Call to speak to the Dr. herself she spoke over me the whole conversation then when I asked if I could see another doctor in Jacksonville she hung up in my face.
My daughter has seen Dr. Kwong a few times over the past several years. She recently had a strange looking growth on her leg. I called to get her in and the person who answered the phone was not speaking coherently, I had to actually ask if I was calling Dr. Kwong's office. She verified that it was, I tried to schedule an appointment and she rudely said there is nothing until the 13th. I then said is there a cancellation list, she said yea.... silence.... I said can you put her on it. Silence, I said hello, all while I could hear her chewing something. I said do you need her name, she said I guess, but the wait list is three pages long, then silence. I then said please add her, gave the name and there again was silence. I said do you need a phone number?, she said I can look it up. I said my number has changed, she looked up the numbers and both were out of date. She said something about moving too much. I said I have not moved, just changed my number. Please update her file with this number. She said ok, and the call ended. Really do not care to go back there.
The signs hanging in the office were ridiculous. Very rude front desk. Dirty feeling office.
My office visit with Dr. Kwong was an awesome experience. Her bedside manner was caring and the time spend with my daughter was very thorough. I would highly recommend Dr. Kwong for any child. The staff was very courteous as well.
Dr. Kwong stands on the opposite side of the room and charts the entire time. She has no bedside manner and should not specialize in pediatrics! I would never recommend!
When you call to schedule an appointment, the woman working the front desk sounds as if your bothering her. The day before my appointment I received a voicemail threatening me that there would be a $35 fee charged if I did not call back to confirm my appointment. When I arrived at the office, I noticed that there was an unnecessary amount of signs posted almost every where, scolding you for things you haven't done. The doctor was cold and rushed and did not help my child at all. She does not like to use pharmacies or generic prescriptions either. She will fill your prescription with a company that will mail it to your house. I'm not sure what kind of perks she gets by doing this but it is apparent that there must be some because her entire staff gets annoyed when you tell them you prefer to use your own pharmacy. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. They all need a serious attitude adjustment.
Dr Kwong did not have a very good bedside manner. She was impersonal and made my teenage daughter feel uncomfortable. My daughter refuses to go back and I don't blame her. There was very little eye contact because she was typing in the computer most of the time and her demeanor was cold. Even before we saw her, I didn't have a good feeling because of a sign in the exam room with multiple exclamation marks and all caps that appeared to be screaming at you about their rules. Not a good place to go.
The staff was rude. We waited over an hour in the waiting room and then waited another 45 minutes in the room. They have signs posted everywhere about being considerate to the doctors time and how they will charge you for missing appointments, but they thinking nothing of leaving the patients waiting!!!!
Dr. Pearl Chu Kwong gave me a ointment that stopped my itching that my previous doctor couldn't figure out
I brought my infant son to Dr. Kwong years ago, and she seemed nice enough. This time, I tried to bring in my daughter, but was not even able to get past the front desk! I gave the receptionist my insurance information when I made the appointment weeks before (we have Blue Cross Blue Shield). When I arrived to the appointment, I gave her my card. After waiting like 20 minutes she finally called me and asked me if I knew how my insurance worked. She said she was not able to pull it up on her computer (no other doctor we see seems to have this problem). She told me she could either try to call the insurance company, or I could give her my credit card to self-pay. I asked her to please try and call. She said, and I quote: "I can't call right now, I have this and that going on..." I said OK, please give me back my paperwork and ID's and we will be on our way. No apologies or any other comments from her, so I walked out the door with my children. I'm not going to self pay for an appointment when I know it should be covered by our health insurance only because the receptionist was too busy or lazy to call and verify our insurance. Every other doctor's office that I've ever been to has always called to verify the insurance, even before you arrive sometimes. So no, I will not be going back there. On a side note, when I was trying to fill out the new patient paperwork at her office the copies were so poor that I could not even read them. I guess they are too lazy to make new copies as well.
To be totally honest she has been the dermatologist for both of my children since they were infants and she was located at Nemours.... 13 years total. She has correctly diagnosed and treated my sons the first time 100% of the time. She always remembers my kids and is very nice but she is firm. She and her staff have always been very friendly and focused. They have always correctly diagnosed my kids condition and that is what matters most to me.
I do not reccomend this doctor to anyone!!! They claim that this is the only pediatric dermatologist in Jax However, That is not the case! The office staff was friendly and nice. Dr. Kwong her self rushed me the whole entire visit and would not answer any of my sons questions. The manager of the office (apparently the doctors husband) is rude and looks like a pervert!!! As I was waiting in the lobby, I overheard him on the phone yelling to someone saying "I hope you die". I was beyond flabergastic, and to top it off, he came out in the lobby and yelled at an innocent 2 year old. This is supposed to be a PEDIACTRIC office! and children should not be exposed to that kind of language or behaivor! I do not suggest her at all, if you are unable to find a local pediactric dermatologist, just drive the 4 hrs away to the next one, trust me its worth it! Oh and to top it off, 6 months later THE MEDS ARE STILL NOT WORKING!
I set an appointment to get a mole removed. When i came for the prodcedure the staff wuz very helpful and polite and made me feel comfortable and at ease but as soon as I went to the back Dr. Kwong and her husband were very very VERY rude and impolite, made me feel so uncomfortable. As Dr. Kwong started to remove the mole she gave me the numbing shot in the wrong mole and when i mentioned it to her she gave me a surprise and dense look and said " oh oh the mole must of disappeared". Never in my life i have I heard of a mole disappearing when im comning to get it removed. I left highly disappointed and upset. I would NEVER go back nor would I NEVER recommend Dr. Kwong to anyone else!
I had to bring my younger siblings to Dr. Kwong for a re-visit about their acne. I appreciated that she did not do the usual dermatologist appointment where you explain your problem as they are writing out the prescription for what they have already decided you need. She sat down and asked them questions on how THEY felt the medications were working and what their feelings were with the medications they were on. At the same time she talked to them as capable people instead of baby talking them like most dermatologists. I have recently made my own appointment to see her as well, switching from my old dermatologist.
Is the rudest most inconsiderate person I have ever encountered. I will never expose my child to someone that condescending and disrespectful again. I cannot even express the experience I had in words. I'm still in shock.
Dr. Kwong was able to diagnose my 11 year old daughter's skin problem that 2 prior doctors were unable to diagnose, and she gave her the right prescriptions to clear it up within days! Amazing. Thank you Dr. Kwong!
Has taken care of my Son for 8 years. Highly suggested, much easier since she left nemours.
Cannot understand how she could be a pediatric dermatologist. She could not have been more impatient with my naturally nervous 9-year old. Kids are naturally afraid of needles and shots. I'm amazed the doctor was surprised to see this. Will never go back to this doctor.
She is not very gentle. If you have a mole you want removed, see a plastic surgeon. I have a huge scar because she hacked me up so badly.
This was a terrible experience!! I would never recommend this Dr. The staff was very rude, the spot that we went to have looked at wasn't even there once we got there so she had nothing to look at. She was in the room less then 3 min. and told me nothing but to schedule another appt if it comes back. They charged my insurance $260 for the visit, my insurance denied it and they have called yelling at me for it.The first time they called I didn't answer because my daughter had to have surgery and the office manager said i was a horrible patient because i don't answer my phone!!! This is a terrible office all around...please do not take your children here!!!
We love dr kwon, she is very precise with her words, no "southerisms" or make nice, just the news. She is a very kind person who always asks after past visits during the current one. She treats my husband and I as a courtesy and my husband was shocked at the thourghness of her exam during his annunal scan, until she explained that you can get skin cancer even in places the sun hasn't been. I have recommended her to many of my friends and if you don't need someone to tell you how pretty you are, dr kwon is the most competant and thorogh derm I have seen.
This doctor, though very nice in many ways, seems to think shes never wrong. She has misdiagnosed my problems and has also insulted me on a couple of occasions. PLUS, her staff is highly unprofessional, lazy, speaks poorly, and has been flat out rude and inconsiderate. I have seen this doctor enough times to feel confident in expressing these opinions.
I am plese with her as my child's doctor. I highly recommend her.
