Dr. Pete Kovatsis, MD

Pete Kovatsis, MD, is director of Liver Anesthesia in the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital and an associate professor of anaesthesia at Harvard Medical School. He specializes in pediatric anesthesiology, with particular expertise in liver transplantation, perioperative anesthesia, and the care of children undergoing complex surgical procedures. Dr. Kovatsis earned his medical degree from the Pritzker School of Medicine at the University of Chicago and completed his internship there, followed by residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital and fellowship training in pediatric anesthesia at Boston Children’s Hospital and cardiac anesthesia at Massachusetts General Hospital. Board certified in anesthesiology, his work focuses on advancing perioperative care and improving outcomes for children undergoing high-acuity surgical interventions.
