Patient Reviews ? Write a Review
I saw him for a foot problem and I was told information I could have gotten off of Web MD. He was in and out so quickly I don't even know if my problem even registered with him. I spent more time with the nurse & aid than him. With a comeback later for a checkup. So disappointed.
I first say Dr. Loeb several years back for rotator cuff surgery & reattachment of my upper rt. arm tendon. He is a serious man who lives, eats. and breathes to help his patients. Every patient I talked to and the rehab people he referred me to all say he's an excellent physician. They all say he needs to smile more! I mentioned this to him in a visit and he said he just thinks that his patients come first with him and I still told him to smile more. He's very competent, as is all his staff. To say he or his staff are rude is just plain wrong. You should see the people they have to deal with on a daily basis. They have been unfailingly polite to everyone, no matter how rude the staff are treated. He is a very busy man and yes, sometimes you have to wait while he may take the extra time needed with the previous patient, but I would expect him to do the same for me. The other orthopedic facilities in Tallahassee are also in this predicament. So many patients, so little time. I am speaking from experience. I have and will continue to use him. He is excellent...but he does not smile enough...he's just very serious about his work, giving the best care he possible can.
When I first went to Dr. Loeb five years ago, he was highly recommended as an orthopedic surgeon. My primary care doctor warned me that Loeb's bedside manner was not great. However, I had a talk with him about that; he listened; and we now have a very good relationship. He has replaced both of my hips and the second operation using the anterior approach, made both leg lengths even. I am so pleased! I would trust him with any orthopedic need.
I went to see this doctor many years ago and stumbled on all the bad reviews. I thought it was just me. Nice to see other people felt the same way, arrogant bleep is all I have to say! I wouldn't let him touch me with a 10 foot pole, run, don't walk!
I am livid after a visit with this incompetent practitioner. I come to see you for an issue and you can't even tell me what is best that I do you're going to insinuate that I have not been doing what I was supposed to do. This idiot barely even took a look at my xrays and went by the diagnosis of another practitioner that wasn't even a doctor. I will never return again. Tallahassee is the worst place to get health care all they want to do is take your money I pay a $40 copay to be insulted by a doctor not even given any care.
I have been fighting my weight for over 50 years. As I child I was taken from one doctor to the next in an attempt to "cure" my obesity. Finally, in 1999 I had gastric bypass, what was to be a dream come true. What was discovered as I walked to keep my weight under control, I have severe osteoarthritis in both knees, no cartilage. When I came to Dr Loeb, I was presented with severe arthritis in my shoulders, as now I have to use a walker with wheels. I have been through therapy, but it was all to no avail. Now, when I had lost 150 lbs, they said I was too young to have my knees done. I have gained back 50, after having rough years of gaining weight, but managed to loose much and get closer to my lowest, weight the less than I did when I got married. The point is, we didn't talk about my joints, except to say that while they would need to be replaced, I am too fat to operate on, because it's a risk to put me under. Now if it was said matter of fact, that he wasn't comfortable working with someone my size, I would respect that. What I DIDN'T appreciate was his constant discussion like I'm the fattest person that ever lived. He would pick up my arms, grab the sagging skin and fat an shake it. When he looked at my knees, he said, "Well they're not bad; they're skinny, not like..." then he patted my stomach. Right where the grapefruit sized scar from the botched bypass surgery was performed. He just went on and on about what a health disaster I am, like the biggest pig in Tallahassee. I shave my hair VERY short, for ease of care at my advanced age, but he had to make some remark like I'm so fat my hair has fallen out! I felt devistated. How long do I have to wait to just be treated like a person, not a big blob of fat. I would never let him "fix me" as he puts it. I choose pain for the moment. I hate that Florida doesn't like to treat people with chronic pain, but if you try to do something about it to improve, you get shot down by the body image police! Grrr!
The best word to describe this man is odious. I have never met anyone quite as obnoxious as he.
Dr. Loeb. What can I say about Dr. Loeb and still be true to my upbringing. My parents have always told me that if you can't say anything good about someone, don't say anything at all! Well, I'm going to try anyway, because he's a professional in his field, and professionals come with certain credentials. Dr. Loeb's credentials show that he is very well educated and comes highly recommended by many. I, for one, would counter others' recommendations of this doctor! I have been seeing him for about two months now and his demeanor is terrible! I was referred to Dr. Loeb after an accident at work, therefore my claim is a Worker's Comp Claim. My right foot/toe was shattered in over six places. He decided not to do surgery. He walks into the exam room, but doesn't greet or speak unless he is spoken to first. He has never really touched or examined my broken foot/toe, but instead he only looks at the x-rays. I am usually afraid to ask him questions because he doesn't seem to know how to answer any questions without snapping! I really hate feeling that just because this is a Worker Comp Claim that Dr. Loeb is not attending to my injury as he should, but I do find myself feeling this way after each of my visits to his office. It has been almost eight weeks now since my accident, and there is still a great deal of discomfort in my foot/toe! It would really help with our doctor-patient relationship if he would welcome and answer questions in a courteous and professional manner; and it certainly wouldn't hurt for him to, at least on occasions, to actually touch and/or examine my foot/toe.
Very competent, great Doctor, great service.
Okay, maybe we would not be each other's first choice to have a beer together, Doc Loeb, respectfully stated is a bit of a charming curmudgeon. But I did not retain a clinical perfectionist, orthopedic surgeon to be my buddy. I retained him to cut my dead knee out of my leg and put in a new knee. And I would put his technical mastery of surgery up against any surgeon who replaces knees. I don't need friends, I needed an expert. And I got more than I paid for. I for one, being a bit arrogant myself, find his demeanor perfect for a leader in his industry. I want a surgeon who counts the swabs three times and bites the heads off of the incompetents we are surrounded by. I wanted perfection and I got it. The staff is no different. They excel in every way. I highly recommend and in fact, like this healer.
Excellent orthopedic doctor - he is THE BEST IN TALLAHASSEE. I wouldn't let another MD touch me even if they paid me!! Kind, considerate, knowledgeable, caring, excellent surgeon, knows his stuff and is willing to be educated if something better comes along. Expects his patients to comply with his instructions or he will let you know about it! Highly recommend him!!!
I have been to many Doctors. This guy needs a new profession!
This doctor is bad enough that he is now having to accept workman's comp. patients. He does the least possible, doesn't follow general medical protocol, would not provide a splint for a broken bone and seemed generally bored with my case. Though I have a fractured bone he refuses to give any pain medication stronger than tramadol. His response when requesting something stronger is to take Tramadol. He will bicker with you, say demeaning comments and generally be a jerk. He was perfectly fine in allowing me to leave his office with a partially healed, unsupported fracture. Someday his karma will come to him. I didn't have a choice in doctors, if you do don't go to this guy. He has the personality of a porcupine.
Appt. was scheduled for 3:05, got in to have x-ray taken 4:50; then waited another 45 minutes before going into an exam room. Once in exam room I was not entered into computer so dr. left and nurse cam in to enter my information into computer. Then PA came in, said I could have shot or dr. may want to operate to remove bone spur in my shoulder. Once dr. came in he pretty much said same thing altho I could tell he would prefer to do surgery. His bedside manner does not exist! He barely looked at me, just sat with his face to computer, did shot and sent me on my way after a 3 hour wait!
This is truly one of the worst orthopedic doctors I've ever seen. I left his office feeling really cheated. He has zero personality and bedside manner. I really would not recommend him. Terrible!!!
Doctor Loeb is the worst "doctor" I have ever dealt with in my life. I broke my hand, and called numberous times to make an appointment which none of my phone calls were returned. FINALLY after two weeks of walking around with a broken hand I get a phone call for an appointment for an xray when I already sent his office xrays. After I got the xray this doctor asked me why I waited so long and I explained that it wasn't my fault it was his offices fault for not returning my phone calls. He then told me instead of getting a surgery I should just let my hand heal on it's own,and it would only take two months to heal. I work with computers all day long typing nonstop. I was in desperate need of a sugery so I begged him to make an appointment for a sugery. He agreed after me asking numberous times, but I couldn't get sugery for another month. So I was walking around with a broken hand for two months because of lack of communication with his office. Then when the surgery was suppose to take place he said he no longer was interested in performing the sugery. He wasted my time and caused me to be in severe pain. He was the ONLY doctor who could perform this sugery for me in tallahassee. I didn't want to have to drive two hours away to see a doctor. He was extremely sarcastic and rude. All this man cares about doing is making extra cash on things like xrays etc. DO NOT GO HERE! I'm going to the board of medicine!!!!!
His PA is very rude. Front office staff is incredibly unfriendly, DO NOT RECOMMEND.
From my first visit to last, he was uninterested in how I was feeling, maybe because workers comp, is not as lucrative as private pay. Whatever the case, he was uniterested in my pain, and dismissed me at every turn. Unbelievable and unhipocratic.
Dr. Loeb was annoyed by any questions, NOT patient and very short, frankly rude. He didnt do surgery and put me in some half cast that i could take off myself. He keep saying everything was pretty good week after week but didnt show me my x-rays. When i finally saw them, he told me that my arm would never be the same & there is nothing that can be done. I finally, went to another doctor, who told me that if i had surgery earlier my bone could have been fixed right. Im currently looking for a lawyer
DR. LOEB WAS THE WORSE THE DOCTOR THAT I'VE EVER SEEN. WHAT AN ATTITUDE, MAYBE THE SHORT MAN COMPLEX. UNPROFESSIONAL AND NOT FOCUSED DURING ANY OF MY APPOINTMENTS.
i recently has a total knee replacement done by dr Loeb. Before the surgery, I met with how pa, Mark, several times as he explained how a. They would handle everything with ins, I have state employee BCBS, b. they would arrange for me to go to rehab in patient, and c. I would have pleny of pain Meds, not to worry about the pain, they would manage it. Let's just say a and b did not happen, they did not handle anything or help me. I got 40 pain pills to take 1 every 4 hours or about 7 days worth. When I asked for more he told me I could have 2 days worth and " he wasn't giving me any more, take Aleve".
We waited for 2 hours and 45 minutes to even get into the examination room where we then waited for another 45 minutes. Absurd. Not even the courtesy of an apology. We were seeing him for a minor fracture of the hand and were not even told what the procedure would be when he finally came in. Arrogant! Inefficient.
I had a gunshot wound to the left hand. It shattered the knuckle of my middle finger. Dr Loeb rebuilt it. I had some problem with the extendor muscle muscle. He had to go in a second time. But fixed it. I now have full use of that hand. I still have some nerve damage, but I never figured I would have full use of it again. Thanks to him. I do. He is a good guy, but hard to understand. His bedside manner is terrible. But, he is a damned good surgeon.
Dr. Loeb operated on my ankle and was supposed to take out a fatty deposit but he did not do what he said he would do....his personality is terrible and I waited four (4) hours in his waiting room to see him. He doesn't seem to care if I am in TERRIBLE pain....still with my ankle.....
