I would not have believed this if I hadn't experienced it myself! I know Drs are stressed these days but so many offices are now seeing way too many more patients than they can be present for and compassionate with. Two weeks ago, I made an appointment to see Dr Maki in this office. He is an excellent Dr whom I greatly admire. My blood pressure had been erratically bouncing up over 170/85 and as I walked in the office, I felt another episode beginning. I had waited to weeks for my appointment and I had been to the hospital three times in the last two weeks and was experiencing these scary episodes daily. However every time, the fire dept came or I went to the hospital, my medicine had begun to work and when they could finally examine me, my heart rate and pressure were back to normal even though I was wiped out. They could find nothing wrong with my heart and no signs of a stroke. So this day, I immediately asked if someone could take my blood pressure to make I was not at risk. I was told no one was available. Then the kind receptionist informed me that they did not show that I had an appointment. Upon further investigation, she was able to see when I had called in and she told the back office staff that I did indeed have an appointment. There response was that there was no way they could fit me in and they would call me to reschedule. They didn't ask if someone was driving me, They didn’t ask if I needed to sit a minute or if there was ANYTHING they could do to assist. I was blown away. It's so sad when really good doctors take so many patients they can't really care for them with compassion and safety, But, Isn’t it their job to decide when enough is enough? When they called to reschedule told them I wasn't interested in going back. I couldn't imagine what would happen in a bigger emergency if 170 over 85 wasn't enough. Pretty sad
