Dr. Ponciano D Cruz, MD

Worst experience with a doctor I’ve ever had. He cut me off when I was answering questions about my own medical history, and because of that, misdiagnosed me with atopic dermatitis when 3 other dermatologists, an allergist, and my own experiences know I have contact dermatitis. Not only did I not get the answers I came for, I left feeling belittled and ignored. A complete waste of time and money. I feel bad for the residents who have to work with him daily. He has an impressive resume but a massive ego — even the most educated doctors can’t make a difference with patients if they’re not willing to listen to them.

Unfortunately, he was worst doctor I have ever been to. I went in for a patch testing for an allergic reaction and he could not help me narrow down what I was allergic to after spending thousands of dollars. In the end, I was told I had to be the one to write down 'my results'. They gave me no results themselves and I was not allowed to take a picture of what they marked down I was allergic to. I had to fill out an allergy form based on what I saw I was having a reaction to from the patch testing. He also put an hour charge for a meeting time with him when he only spent a rushed 15 minutes with me. I was told an hour was just the minimum amount that could be charged but I pulled out an older receipt that had a 30-minute charge and told them they were incorrect. Their solution was for me to sit with the doctor for another 5 minutes to get any questions I wanted answered. If you want a doctor that truly cares and bills you ethically, I would advise you to stay away from Dr. Ponciano and… his staff.

Ive been dealing with chronic dermatitis for 2 years and got the run around with 2 other doctors. Finally I was able to get in to see dr. Cruz and we did patch testing for the NAC-80 + his 37 patch hair panel. I found out I am allergic to hair bleach among other chemicals. Dr. Cruz listened to my complex history and actually started my testing same day— normally doctors make you come back in but he didn’t want to waste any time. I am soooo so thankful for dr. Cruz and his expertise. He is so smart and knows so much about dermatitis and which chemicals to avoid and which chemicals fall under the same area as another. I highly recommend anyone dealing with these awful allergic reactions to go see Dr. Cruz ASAP. He has truly changed the outlook of my future!

Brought my 8 mo old baby & he didn't even look at her or talked to us and immediately wrote a prescription of Triamcinolone ointment. Our visit lasted less than 5mins. After a few months, we learned from my baby's pediatrician that the drug he prescribed was a steroid that can cause stagnant growth. He failed to mention that side effects because he didn't talk to us.

He should not have recommended that I go through with testing. Had he listened we would have learned that before and not after the waste of time and money. He knew the insurance company would pay the claim and that seems to be all that mattered.

My daughters saw no improvement after 9 months of seeing Dr. Cruz so he made a referral for food allergy testing. We made an appointment and waited 2 months to see the doctor. I was called the day of the appointment to say that it was cancelled because they don't test for food allergies! These 9 months have been a waste of our time.

Only Dermatologist to diagnose my skin allergy...and I went through a lot of highly rated ones!

He would not let me talk, and when I finally was able to talk about my condition he would cut me off in mid sentence and was just a horrible listener! He's so accustomed to teaching that he treated me like a student.... I felt like I had to raise my hand to speak. Dr. Cruz ... If u r reading this.... Your bedside manner is flawed.... Work on it and learn to listen to your patients. Care a little bit. I'm human just like u are!

Para la persona q corresponda, mi pregunta es si el Dr. Cruz podra darme un medicamento para mi parte genital es picazon en medio de los testiculos, ye e ido al medico y solo me dan cremas y no se me quita, creo q debo de buscar un especialista de la piel para un tratamiento de bacteria,x eso le escribo quizas me pueda dar algo q sea bueno . GRASIAS TENGO ASEGURSANZA SIGNA ...

I have never had such a negative experience with a doctor. I was referred to this doctor by my PCP for two issues, and Dr. Cruz never even acknowledged one of the issues. He told me one thing and his nurse told me the complete opposite - she said he didn't really know the details of a particular treatment, that's her job. I wouldn't know who to believe, the doctor or the nurse. I have no confidence in anything that comes from their office. I feel badly that I have absolutely nothing positive to say, but it was an unbelievable experience, I've never experienced anything like it - and hope never to again!
